Kalinskaya has the perfect temperament for tennis: never flustered, rarely shows any emotion except when she smiles after a win.
She’s also very respectful towards her opponents. She applauded Coco for a nice shot that had her really off balance. Hoping that Anna can continue her strong play the rest of the way

Anna reaching the semifinals is a little bit of a consolation after my favorite player Elena Rybakina had to withdraw. Nothing against Iga, but I would like to see Anna and Sorana in the final.

@@Nick_P_I don’t know her situation but maybe not everyone can afford the best physios, training conditions and coaches, especially when ranked out of the top 50-60. Now she should be more free in this department after the success she’s had at big and well paying events.

But we all have a right to do and live how we please. As long as she is happy, I am good. But great to see her win and go deeper into tournaments.

Many Congratulations to Kalinskaya, she is having a great start to the year. Like I say, sports is 99% Mental... doesn't matter what is going on at the other end. FOCUS on your game. Ever since Coach Pere Riba left Coco Guaffs team before WTA finals transitioning into 2024, her game has changed. He brought the change, Gilbert added something yes but Pere is a fantastic coach. Under him she won DC, Cincinnati and Us Open thats no coincidence. She needs to spend time working on her serve. She needs a coach, something isn't working right now. All the best to her.
I tell you Coco and Iga are my favorite players and every time they lose some fans blame the trainer for reason to change. If they win we see the player- not the team. But Is sport- physical and mental condition is important but sometimes the opponent is better and smarter. Sometimes we have good days but the bad too, just life. I wish to see Coco and Iga in every final match 🇵🇱👍🇺🇸 😃 🌈💕❤️❤️
@@anybodyhandleLol, no blame here. Coco won Auckland. Yes, she won this and that. I am saying... since he left, her game has changed. I am talking since December. Nothing to do with winning or loosing. A coach has a great effect on a players game and of course yes, its the players who have to hit the ball.
It's her mind that's not working. No coach can fix that.

I have to agree with this comment. If she is going to get past any of these 3 players, she has to work hard. I feel like they are improving rapidly. Also, i think she needs a change of coach or a new one.

Kalinskaya has great point construction, both Saba and Rybka struggle against her, she's now beaten Coco too, and I don't expect an easy win for 1ga either, Anna has that Elena-style game to potentially trouble her. An avid tennis fan is well aware of Kalinskaya's potential and I'm so happy to see her thriving finally. She should be a threat in every tournament as long as she's healthy, so fingers crossed for that, cos her game is just stunning to watch 👏 Coco played well too, 27-27 winners-ues, her fh is much better now, still a liability though, but her bh + net play are a beaut! Should be interesting following their development throughout the season and I'm looking forward to Anna-1ga match tomorrow 🌙

It is really significant to see the swift evolution of Kalinskaya. The new generation is absolutely in a more different level. That's why it is very tough to predict the outcomes of these appearances and matches in WTA tourneys as well as grand slam tournaments, undoubtedly a solid and confident performance from Anna Kalinskaya. Well-deserved glory!!!

Pretty wild hitting from both sides. The the end however Kalinskaya continued to hit harder and made less unforced errors.
Gauff was the favourite as she has excellent athleticism to run down balls - But Kalinskaya hits hard with pace and got thru the defence. Good at conserving energy to the point she gives up some points early but then that avoids fatigue and it allowed her to keep going after the commentators thought she would give up. Now she gets to play Swiatek in her first ever WTA1000 semifinal. Kalinskaya may take a little hope that Swiatek lost to Novoska in the AO and has a similar style of play but not if she has a medical issue ?
It’s insane how identical coco gauff is growing with the same problems Venus Williams use to grow with : shaky forehand and shaky second serve. But Venus use to have a vicious first serve with a very good attacking game and power. Coco is just there .

Love her game. The angles, playing inside or near the baseline, use ng the pace of the ball, hitting quite flat. Reminds me of Sloane.
And not one argument with the chair umpire. Outstanding, Miss Gauff.
Gorgeous looking girl that Anna Kalinskaya is, and her face reminds me of Eugenie Bouchard, just with much more talent, and nicer than Bouchard. Looks to me that she has powerful ground strokes, with great movement, and she took out Gauff ( #3) and Swiatek (#1 ) , so she really deserves to take this title. I'll be cheering for her, and hope she has enough gas in the tank to win it. I think she'll win against Paolini in straight sets -- hope so. She's a " real beauty" as well :)
Both ladies have incredible movement.
Sometimes it's not the better player that wins; it's the player that's hungrier. I've seen this in every kind of sport.

Wow... we can actually see the ball, because the sun isn't glaring off the surface of the court and we're not looking at the shadow-side of the ball, because someone decided to place the camera on the side of the court facing the sun. Anna is kawaii!!!
Anna is really going to be a hard nut for top players. She needs to keep the motivation stronger and workout little faster the back hand shots and spin slices.
I like the way Kalinska made fools out of english speakers commentators. You can sing "ka, ka lin, ka ka lin, kakalinka maja" abd smile😅
Coco really needs to work on her first serve percentage. It seems to always go sideways in these high pressure matches. This particular match came down to the 4th game of the third set. Nothing but second serves from Kalinskaya that Coco could've capitalized on, plus a few unforced errors to boot from Anna. On another note, I have never seen Kalinskaya take a medical time out when she's winning, but she does it a lot when she's losing. Seems like a strategy. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

No throwing her racket, etc. The few times she has spoken up about an issue (Laura Siegemund match) a disproportionate amount of attention seems to be given to it. Kalinskaya this year playing like top-10 and soon she might be there.
Most of Coco’s wins against 30-40 ranked players this year have been such slugfests, she won more than she lost but it was a matter of time that she’d lose a few of those. It’s probably a good thing for her to lose because the problems will be addressed while if she kept winning they might have ignored them. She was playing like this same time last year and then hit the purple patch in US, yet to see if that was a purple patch or more sustainable level for her. Even in the USA her wins against top players have been quite nervy and ugly, making the other player lose, quite different from Rybakina, Swiatek and Sabalenka who like to take control of the match. But I guess this is her play style.

If there is something Brad can help Coco with, it's finding the angles in her returns. Coco usually just hits the ball back right in the middle, leaving herself at the mercy of her opponent. Her agility usually bails her out. If she can begin to find the angles and keep her opponents on their toes, she'll be hard to beat.
Hey @wta why do you include double faults in your highlights?? Even if it's on a crucial point, the fact that like 10 full seconds are wasted to showcase BOTH FAULTS is like ... wasted time. I'm sure those 10 seconds could be devoted to a better point. Just saying...
Gauff's games are so boring. You pretty much know that at some point she's going to loose iniciative and going to be the less agressive one, expecting the other player to miss or get tired of boredom.
