    • Dating or not dating shouldnt concern anyone either. If you can keep balance tonnes n tonnes of human n cargo in the air, dating is quite simple for you to balance, on ground guys.     • idk about commercial aviation but in GA you're allowed to listen to music, there are even headsets or adapters which has two channels and mute one of them when the other is playing, i know bose has one with bluetooth and channel prioritization but when it comes to airlines i think we can trust joe

  • The "best pilot" goes hands-down to Al Haynes, Bill Records, Dudley Dvorak and Dennis Fitch. Not to defame Sullenberger, but UAL232 IMO is hands-down the best performance until someone manages to land a plane which lost its wings.

    • For me its Captain Richard De Crepny form Qantas flight 32. When he does a control check in flight to determine which of his flight Controls are still working and how him and his co pilot react to the impending danger of loosing Engine Number 2 ( Airbus A380). after landing and stopping with less then 1 metre of runway to spare in Singapore ( No injuries and Zero Fatalities).

    • Fighter pilots wear anti G suits, oxygen masks and they are strapped in an ejection seat. They have special equipment to use parachutes since fighter jets fly faster than commercial planes.

    • It's because in aviation every pilot is an "informal" captain. But when they're inside a flight deck tge stripes tells who is the Captain and who is the F.O. 😊👍 Of course that this difference also appear in the payslip during all the others careers situations. 😅

    • 1 engine failure is ok in most airplanes, the problem is 2, 3 or 4 engine failures.

    • Haha well... it just helps it to stay longer in the air. The worst thing that can happen to a plane is probably losing a wing, especially a "main" one, or the vertical stabilizer which is responsible to keep the plane going straight. Or if the plane has its elevators on the rudder, and the rudder gets torn off, its nose will go down and the pilot will be just scared af cuz the plane doesn't react if they pull back the yoke/stick. Ok not sure it's the worst, but worst thing that can happen when the plane is in the air and the rest of it is still in one piece. An engine failure is bad but you won't fall out of the sky like a brick at least, you can still glide and emergency land somewhere hopefully.

    • Technically it’s the lift generated by the wings that’s keeping the ‘flying bathtub’ in the sky lol. Depending on the weight, surface area of the wings, etc, you can glide for a very long time before landing with almost no worries

  • 6:00 MentourPilot made a podcast about that topic. It's not because parachutes are too expensive. It is because: 1. Most passengers simply can't operate parachutes properly. 2. At 30000 feet altitude, there is not enough oxygen. You will pass out. 3. The aircraft is pressurized, so you can't open the door.

    • If the accident happens during cruise, it's too high (lack of oxygen), too FAST, and too cold for parachutes on a passenger jet. Not practical, so not worth the weight if it can't help save lives. Not to mention, you have the engines to worry about, both the intake and the heat of the exhaust.

This was when O'Leary had ordered his beleaguered, under-paid pilots to "Fly slower to save fuel". Before the flight had crossed the Bay of Biscay, it had been overtaken by 9 other airlines, and possibly even a very lost pigeon.

  • 3:10 The tropopause is not a useful proxy for "cruise altitude", given that it varies from below FL300 (300 hPa) around the poles to above FL500 (110 hPa) around the equator. At any given flight level it will typically* still be warmer at the equator than at the poles. (* Out of curiosity I looked at some current global temperature charts (on meteoblue) and this simple rule seems to hold just fine up to FL340 (250 hPa). The southern hemisphere also shows some limited "hotspots" (-40 ͏°C) around 45͏° south, though around the south pole it just gets really really cold (-70 ͏°C))

The mexican presidential 787 has not one single revenue flight, sat in a Boeing hanger in Washington state for a year. Taking up rent and maintenance. And if AMLO does sell it. You can bet the next Mexican president will buy another airliner presidential jet....after all of that. It will cost the mexican citizen more then a 380.

    • If the plane goes down, there is no time for 100 passengers to put on a parachute and jump out of the plane. A B-17 had only 10 crewmember, 9 of them always wearing a parachute and still it happend more than once that not all could leave the plane befor it crashed. If the pilot can control the plane long enough for 500-800 passangers to leave the plane, he could simply try an emergency landing

    • Before that they will get sucked in those huge jet engines and scattered to pieces. Those jumping from the rear will burn their parachutes because of the hot air passing through the engines. Anyhow, they are not surviving those damn engines.

    • @@Mesteropuppets The Engines are around 5 meters away from the fuselage and dont suck magical everything in whats in front of the plane. Only a small part of the air wich goes through the engine is heated up to ~2000°C, but right behind the turbine, the temperatur is down to ~600°C and cools even more down wenn mixed with the much greater part of air from the fan. Airliner dont have afterburner. To get burn by the hot air, you have to take the over wing exit, crawl over the wing to engine, glide slowly down the wing and hang down on the flaps. There is nearly no chance to jump from the aft door right into the exhaust plume. Search on YT for C-17 paratroopers, they out a door right behind the wing, no parachute or paratrooper get burned.

  • One badass captain is Sifis Migadis. He managed to land a heavy loaded Boeing 747-200 in 1978 (Greece) after one of it's engines exploded while they were taking off and it was already too late to abort the liftoff. He managed to fly it in a really kow altitude (knocking off roof antennas of the houses underneath), avoid a mountain, turn around, drop off some fuel to lighten the plane and land the plane without a single scratch on people on board (418 people crew included). Every Boeing simulation of that incident ended with a crash!!!!
