Amazing Review. Thanks for covering so many details about the headset. I am a “sweaty” FPS gamer and I have slowly been upgrading my entire PC setup. Most recent has been my audio setup. I just received my Model ones, after trying Nova Pro’s (sent back due to a static sound while playing apex) I figured it may have been a faulty device although when I turned off sonar it seemed to almost disappear. Then I tried the turtle beach stealth pros (sounded pretty good but really uncomfortable for me, so I sent them back) that’s when I discovered VZR model ones and after researching more (including this review) I ordered them immediately. I had extremely high expectations since I am upgrading from a sub $100 4 year old Roccat headset I guess my main question is, will these headphones sound much different when pairing with a DAC? When I plugged them into my Realtek Audio driver they immediately sounded much flatter than my Roccat (same thing with Nova Pro & stealth pros) I’m guessing this is because I’ve been playing a small bass boost on my roccats for so long that even these premium gaming headsets aren’t blowing me out of the water? Or maybe the lack of utilizing a DAC? I’m going to buy the sound blaster g6 and see if this helps with the low volume and mess with the EQ a bit.
Hey there! Can't believe I missed your comment till now. They are supposed to be flat because they are rated for studio mixing. To answer your question, yes they pair well with a DAC like the G6 and respond well to EQ. You can boost the bass and treble to get the sound you want for gaming. These are my daily driver because of how versatile they are.
Was part of some of the early adopters and run this with my Schiit Hel, on my PS5, and it's still always a part of my rig. I use these and the R70x, as my mains and no matter what, the VZR never gets packed away. It'll always stay in use because they got so much right with it. They updated my cords and mic, too, when I asked a few months back and they were very cool about it. I don't mind the floppy-ness so that fine. The only issue is the I do get some slight echo, in the mic, when I use the Hel's mic input. I think it's a fault in the Hel, because if I plug the VZR right into the PS5 controller, it works perfectly, but when I put it into the Hel and attempt to balance the mic, it's either too quiet or it's too loud and echoes to those in my chat. I just end up using a separate mic but that's what I do with my R70x so it's not a deal breaker. But yeah, this hangs with some hardcore audiophile headphones so I call that a win!
What's better for competitive gaming, footsteps, imaging etc? the r70x or vzr?

Would you recommend these as the best wired headset for the PS5? If not do you have a recommendation for the PS5 wired? I'm assuming without a dedicated app there's no way to turn on spatial sound to reap those benefits of this headset on a PS5? Thanks

How do they sound with those Brainwavz ear pads? How is the bass, treble, soundstage, imaging etc affected? And you got the XL Round pads right? Do they fit perfectly with the Model One? I’m just about to purchase the headset but not a fan of leather pads lol
Hey there. Yes, XL round. It makes them slightly bass forward. The treble and Soundstage stay the same but there is one caviat: cooling gel pads don't "break in." The Model One gets brighter the more the original pads get smooshed down. I don't care about this because you can make them brighter in EQ or by giving them more volume.

Ifi Zen DAC V2 is a good option for hi-fi and the SoundBlasterX G6 is a great gaming DAC.
Hello nico, i come from one of your tron videos, i wanted to say thanks for such great tutorials on the script however i did run into a little bit of a weird issue After watching your 2021 video when it was a few months old and running the whole thing, i lost the ability to create zip folders on the file explorer. I runned tron again recently due to some shady files being downloaded into my pc by a chrome extension since you can never be too careful XD I was hoping perhaps running the newer version of tron would fix it somehow but it didnt. Other than that i the machine runs perfect So just to clarify, after running tron, if i open the file explorer and try to create a new folder i cannot create a zip folder, its not a big issue since 7zip still works but i wanted to know if this is normal. the extension was called hola vpn if you want to know.
I enjoyed your video, thank you for your review. I got the VZR headphones about a month ago and I have the Wavzs KT-1 with 6 speaker drivers per ear. This headset made me retire the Wavzs. Also using the Schiit Hel 2 for it and retired the Astro Mix-amp. I connected the VZR to my phone using a headphone jack to USB C with an internal boost amp to help power the heaphones a bit and was draining my phone battery a little faster. Just wondering what app should I download to tune the heaphones and/or the Schiit Hel 2?
I recommend Dolby Atmos/Dolby Access. It is the best surround available... Essentially every other surround tech is trying to match Dolby. It will have presets that work great with the Model One and also custom options to EQ them the way you want. Ideally a gaming DAC such as the SoundBlasterX G6 (link in description) would be used for gaming but you already have some good Schitt (🤣) so I would say you could just get Dolby Atmos/Dolby Access. It costs $14/year but it's worth it

Great review!!! Originally I was planning to by EPOS H6Pro and now this headset is my new option. Do you recommend using a DAC? If so, which one? I will use it for Gaming, Music and Work. Question; Your Tron videos brought me to your channel and I can really see the quality of your vdieos, but I have question regarding Tron, does it really Remove 100% of the viruses? I've installed some games from some site, but they're not a big deal after a few scans, they were just some of them -old, since I've been having them for like a year or so,and since it updates frequently, there might chance it detects them- Now, I removed the files (The Exe's and the whole game(s)) but I'm not sure if there's still a chance I might have them, that's why I'm asking, since they're not some crazy viruses, is it 100% sure that It'll detect them?

@@NicoKnowsTech Watched it, I have both autorun and Process hacker, everything is clean from What I'm seeing, but When I finished with Tron, the logs summary folder was empty it said 0 malware found (The normal log file did have everything though)

Not sure if you ever tested Sennheiser HD700 but would love to know how the sound would differ. HD700's are open back, known for beeing one of the best for gaming but they are veeeery neutral sounding. So looking for some headphones that can deliver some fun punchy bass as well.
Hey there. I have tested the HD700. The Model One are very diferent. Very punchy bass, high impact and great dynamics. What makes them so diferent is the soundstage. Its quite wide and it makes them ideal for spatial audio. The HD700 have a better treble.

On gaming DACs like SoundblasterX G6 I boost the bass a little and crystalizer to enhance the treble... essentially making them almost V-shaped or M-shaped since they are a bit too balanced for exciting gaming stock. This is because they are also tuned for mixing/mastering in the studio. I also enable Dolby Atmos on performance mode when I game. The Model One works with all suround technology... but it was truly designed with Dolby Atmos in mind.

Absolutely yes. I had both the H6Pro closed and open back models. Once I put on the VZR Model One I gave away my H6Pro. These make the EPOS sound cheap.
I had the same EXACT experience. I had the H6Pro as well before these. No comparison.

Hello @NicoKnowsTech : These days, I had the same problem on my PC with this "false positive," except it was an actual virus, which resulted in my Google account being hacked, as they activated two-step authentication... Second issue: In the specified path, I can't find any files when I press the "all files" option. It shows me nothing, and I even receive an error saying that the file explorer can't find the path. Do you have any idea about a possible solution? I can't use my computer. Is it possible to recover my Google account? I would appreciate any information you have.

Hey there. They increased the gain which caused problems with being heard sometimes. Was that the mic issue you are referring to?
@@NicoKnowsTech I believe that was one of the main concerns, but I believe its also something funky with the way xbox handles mic audio, especially since you cant generally control mic gain with xbox. I did see in your review and others about the increased gain and longer mic boom, just havent seen any follow ups or comments on whether its actually working correctly with xbox. The search continues! Lol. Maybe I’ll just call them and ask, I hear they are very customer service forward.
@@baileymoto Its an electrical change that makes the mic louder and more sensitive so it will bring an across-the-board increase to mic volume.

Hello Nico, sorry to use this vid to try and contact you. But, here goes. 1 Year ago you posted a very good vid on TRON. During which i think you mentioned that if TRON is installed and used, it will delete Extensions applied to a Browser, at that time you were referring to Chrome. BUT I do not use Chrome, I use Brave, so, will TRON remove any extensions I have added to Brave. This is important, because if it does, then I cannot use TRON and risk having my Browser extensions removed. I would appreciate a reply. Sorry for using this vid to communicate with you.
It shouldn't mess with any extensions unless they are browser hijack infections.
I use Razer 7.1 surround with these THX version of the software.

Nah, signed an NDA because I wanted answers to certain questions I had. Since the questions went into trade secrets it was pretty standard in the industry.

DO NOT BUY HEADSET!!! WITHIN DAYS THE WIRE ON BOTH SIDES IS MESSED UP AND COMPANY REFUSES TO REPLACE OR EVEN SELL REPLACEMENT. USELESS WITHOUT CORD.

I've been reading about the company owners themselves getting on Discord video and walking random people through troubleshooting. Everything else I've heard is that VZR is taking customer service and support super seriously.
@@jlaff8260 yeah but their service is 3rd world. Their cord was defective and cannot replace it. They offer to repair it if I pay to ship it to them. I bought a headset from Astro for cheaper (around $300) and cord was messed up so they right away shipped me a new one.
@@jlaff8260 btw their headset really doesn't sound that great and the mic is trash. Definitely not worth $400... I'd buy another Astro any day.
