Definitely picking up a set of these. Really dope that it essentially gives you an additional HDMI 2.1 port, albeit 40Gbps as opposed to 48Gbps but still very nice. It gets annoying having to switch between headsets for my PS5 and PC. Gonna use this for the switch as well.
I double checked to see if he misspoke on the HDMI bandwidth and they are 40 Gbps per the Logitech website instead of the full 48 Gbps. However, that shouldn't impact gaming on PS5/Xbox Series.
You do realise that 48GBPS is required for 8K60/HDR/Dolby Vision? No console is hitting 8K and if it did it would be dynamically! Not to mention that 48GBPS is also only niche and needed for 12-BIT colour range at 4K60/120… no TV at any consumer level goes above 10-BIT.. for full DV coverage or 8K60 is what you’d need a 48GBPS lane for! Until then? It’s just numbers that make you feel superior when in fact no one right now needs 48GBPS! P.S I have a 48GBPS OLED C3 and also a C1, both my series X and V run on the C1 and the C3 EXACTLY the same! Not a single pixel changes proving that 48GBPS IS NOT NEEDED!.

I have been using Nova Pro as well after buying PS5 and found out there is no Astro headset for the PS5 at that moment. Because back on PS4, I was using Astro A50 as well and really enjoy using it. Can't wait for the release and will buy it for sure. Thanks for the review
The thing that I love about my A40's is that I can listen to my pc and ps5 audio at the same time, so if that's possible with this then I'll be picking these up real soon
That's what I'm concerned about, but from the looks of it it only does one at a time hope, I'm wrong.
In the video he mentions that you can game and listen to your phone audio at the same time. This has been a major issue for me as i use PS app to talk to my friends and game on my PC. I have to rely on a 3rd party bluetooth connection that doesnt always work. This will be a nice upgrade.
you can, even if it doesn't work both with the hdmi, you can always connect your pc with bluetooth and still game on your ps5 at the same time
This is a huge selling point for me when buying a headset. Sad that this isn't something that's prioritized in most new gaming headsets. There's no aux port on the base station so I assume the only way for simultaneous audio would be to connect through bluetooth. I've tried this with a different headset and it killed the battery pretty fast with bluetooth on so I dont think id go this route personally.

I'm super surprised you never ran into buggy charging issues on your headset. Not to mention the top cushion on the headband falling out.
when i first bought my a50s in 2021 the top piece fell right out and it kept happening, sent an email to astro and they sent a whole new headset for free since i was under warranty. now the ones i have still work great and i got the other ones as back up@@Turtle-.-

Just know the Bluetooth connection is to the base station not directly to the headset so if you were thinking of taking the headset out with you to use with your phone away from the base station you're out of luck.

I really like the base station switching capability. But the hot swappable batteries in my nova pro wireless is a feature I’m not willing to lose. Would definitely sacrifice a bit our sound quality for that.
Totally get that, but when do you need more than 24 hours of battery in one go? As soon as you've finished they will sit charging anyway.

It’s much easier to charge the Astro A50x while gaming than it is for the Nova Pro Plus the game / party chat buttons on the Astro’s are >
I also have the nova pros too and i have never ever needed to swap the battery which was one of the main reasons i bought them. O well sick headset tho

Very good headset but I'm upset that they've got rid of the AUX port as it was a good way to connect with other audio interfaces. I'm sure it'll still be possible to connect to them through the use of some adapters. Looks like a good headset overall though! Thanks for reviewing these!

Love ❤️ your channel! The footage referencing Gen 4 are actually Gen 3!?? Gen 3 & 4 work on PS5. Either get HDMI adapter or even easier connect optical cord directly to your TV. As long as your TV has an optical port you are good 👍 to go!!
Unfortunately the HDMI adapter isn’t HDMI 2.1 (so restricts the 4K 120hz my tv/monitor need). And as my monitor doesn’t have optical that won’t work either (and on my TV I use my AVR for sound, so it wouldn’t work on there either.
I like the fact you can charge it while it’s in the dock. That’s my main issue is remembering to charge my Turtle Beach Stealth’s

Just got these as a christmas gift a few hours ago. Already loving them. Coming from Astro A40's for my Xbox, i was beyond glad to see the A50 X being able to connect to both Xbox and PS. Beyond comfortable and lightweight. Definitely worth the purchase.

I figure these are better since you don't have to use Atmos to emulate Surround sound anymore. Since its HDMI Passthrough for Audio it's almost like using the optical cable on the old school Astro's your actually getting Dolby 7.1 if you choose.

@SpawnPoiint Did you notice any type of Input Lag or Delay while using 2 Separate HDMI 2.1 cables on 1 Console cause i remember there being some issues with that with the HDMI Adapter that you talked about in this video so im interested to know if there was any Input Lag or Delay especially while playing Competitive online games like Call Of Duty?

Very good headset but i still use my old G933 because the usb dongle have a 3.5 mm jack that you can plug another audio source and they BOTH play at the same time on the headset, very useful when i want to play PS5 on one monitor and PC for youtube on another monitor

No they 100% work for me. It doesn't show on screen, but it works (as shown on the app as you press the headset too).

No noise cancelling for $380 is crazy. I'll pick them up and give them a try before returning them but i doubt Ill get over that ridiculous price.
Honestly, I have so much going on around me while I'm gaming so the non noise cancellation for me works. Plus the volumes and the comfort are just so superb.

They are open back headphones..? Adding noise cancellation too open back headphones what? Why would you need noise cancellation in a room by yourself? which majority of gamers are in. Noise cancellation also gets rid of certain sounds that you wouldn't be able to hear because of it. Also, I'd like to hear myself speak in a room so i'm not insanely loud...

I ran my A50s with the PS5 adapter, like you, I changed them because of pass through limitations and because I didn’t like the need for the base station. I was hoping this iteration wouldn’t have that, especially with today’s minimal aesthetics vibe. I do want a new headset though, the pulse 3ds leave some thing’s to be desired and they’re aren’t comfortable during longer sessions. May try a pair of Steele series out…at least I can put the Nova Pros base station out or sight and requires less space
Steelseries 7P+ are very good, I’ve tried all the ones you mentioned and hated them all finally settled on the ss7P+ and love them

Could you just plug the power cable and the usb c from ps5 and connect the hdmi from ps5 to tv directly? Or does the base station NEED the hdmi?
I'm deciding between this or the Nova Pro wireless. Had the Astro A50 gen 4 but was defective. I'm worried on the count of that and whether this is worth the premium
Everything looks great but im a huge fan of it's flex and durability. I've dropped prob 1k by now on headsets that just break at the ear pin a month in with their cheap plastic part bs. Im only on one platform(xsx) so i couldn't take full advantage of what the A50X has to offer but I'd buy it on durability alone. That makes the 380 price tag worth it for me. But i could go maxwells and pay 50 bucks less. But I've heard they are very heavy. Im just not sure if it's really that big a deal or if ppl exaggerate it even while playing long sessions... great review😊

TBH if I was you I would gotten the Audeze Maxwell it has better Audio plus the battery life is 80 hours were the astro has 15 hours

Brilliant vid! Was exactly what I needed. I love astro and I am normally the sort of guy to go all in when it comes to headsets. I am so torn between these and the new Pulse Elites though. Considering I no longer game on PC or xbox I don’t need the switching. These won’t work on the PS Portal either, will they?
They won't work on the Portal no. I'm really interested in seeing what the Pulse Elites are like, and will grab a pair to review. The fact they will work on the Portal and more is great. The earbuds were impressive so I have high hopes for them.

These look great, one point you mentioned is 120hz pass through - is there anyway to push them to 240hz for PC FPS games on a gaming monitor?
Have you tried the Audeze Maxwell? Expensive but just towers above everything else. 80 hrs battery life. And besides gaming I use it A LOT listening to music. It’s literally a high end premium headset.
stop it... built quality is below average, 3 audeze products, 3 same problems with crinkling foil sound in one earcup after using them 2-3 months when moving them. These products are too over-advertised by youtubers
I had no idea that Astro released a new headset until I saw this video! If I knew earlier it would be on my Christmas list… I used to use Astros but then got disappointed with TWO sets of A50s so switched to Turtle Beach. Also glad you covered the Bluetooth connection as that’s a must for me as I like to listen/watch KZhead videos, scroll Twitter when playing more casually and also helps when gaming with friends who don’t have headsets so have to call to communicate.
Super disappointed with my TWO sets of A50s too. Base station was crap, charging was crap, the software was crap. The sound was amazing WHEN YOU COULD ACTUALLY GET THE HEADSET TO WORK. Flaws that shouldn't exist in a gaming headset at the premium price range. Unacceptable.

@@Turtle-.-no issues at all with the Turtle Beach’s - very good headset. I actually still have the 700 Gen 2 MAX or whatever they’re called. No issues at all there after a few years of use.

I've been looking out for a new wireless gaming headset so I might give these a try. I hope the sound quality is as good as you say. I had the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro's earlier this year which I didn't like because of the poor quality so I returned them. Even my old XO Ones sound much better and people even comment on how crisp and clear the mic is, which is crazy considering they're almost a decade old. I do like the connectivity on these already from what I've seen, and the mic does sound good.

@@mundane4082 because it is. They have a tinny, low bit rate sound and the so-called "superhuman hearing" is even worse. The gunshots just sound harsh and abrasive.
Don't buy anything from Astro. They are riddled with buggy software, a terrible base station, and charging issues that occur 6-12 months into use. Just look up "Astro A50 Won't Charge" on google and you will see thousands of posts on various forums complaining about it for the last 4 YEARS. Customer support won't help, and they refuse to address these issues. If you plan on using the headset for any length of time longer than 6 months, you will regret you bought a pair of Astros. Yes the sound is really really good, but who cares when your headset bricks itself because it won't charge properly.
Okay i finally bought a pair for my PS5. Holy cables it takes 4 just to connect to the PS5 as i followed Astros setup video on YT. For someone with such a clean setup Spawnpoint you must have had to do some serious cable management. I know that i spent a good hour rearranging my desk and tidying everything up
haha yes it does take some time to sort it out. Imagine using it with an Xbox, PS5 and PC, cables everywhere 😂

I've always used Turtle Beach with my PlayStation's my current 700 max have 40 hours battery life and are super comfortable you sound quality is great I really can't complain about them
About a year or two ago I found a Astro Mixamp Prototype online for Xbox that had HDMI input/output for modern Xbox Series X, USB-C and Lan Cable support for daisy chaining the Mixamps together but have yet to see anything drop from Astro??? I wonder what is the hold up after all this time???

I would like to use this model without the HDMI relay because I want to avoid any form of latency. Is it possible to operate by usb without HDMI? If so, what are the changes to cable and HDMI usage? Is it only the mixed cat?

Does the HDMI provides true 7.1 surround for Xbox Series? I play competitive FPS games and I really want to hear clearly when an enemy is above or below me. Dolby Atmos surround sound does not offer this option when the headphones are connected with a USB cable like Steelseries Actic Nova Pro.
