Giant Bear Casually Walks Past Tourists in Alaska's Katmai National Park

A massive brown bear casually walking along a hiking path in Alaska’s Katmai National Park on July 14 stopped and turned around when faced with a park sign showing the kind of animal populating the park - bears.
In this video, taken by park visitor Cara Siciliano, the giant bear strolls past her tour group as her seaplane captain is overheard greeting the creature, saying, “Hey, big boy!”
Speaking to Storyful, Siciliano said that she was walking down a path in the park with her friends when the bear suddenly appeared behind them.
Siciliano said the captain, who has guided trips in the national park hundreds of times, said he had never witnessed anything like this before in his life.

These types typically only attack humans when defending a specific territory or cubs or a carcass. Remaining calm and alert is the best idea when encountering these situations instead of panicking and potentially making yourself seem like prey, specially on a well travelled trail like this.

But my god, what an absolutely terrifying encounter that would be. These giant beasts could literally shred you to pieces. At the very beginning of the video, you can very briefly see the other bear fleeing far up the path behind the sign. I would imagine once he lost sight and/or scent of the other bear, he decided it was far enough away and decided to return to his domain. He probably was too full, and worn out from the fight, to care about the humans...

But, bear pros say to form a group, if you're with others, & together slowly wave your arms. So that you look like one large creature. And tell the bear to go away. I've seen this work, so...
