Mama bear and her 2 cubs come to our pool for a visit. I believe this family is new to our area. We are having a heat wave today and bears are looking for a way to cool down. Video file date: July, 20, 2023, 10:36am.

  • Working in the area years ago, I watched a mama bear and her two cubs go into a swimming pool. Sometime after they left, the homeowner returned. I said, “There were bears in your pool today.” He replied, “There are bears in my pool every day.”

    • And these bears have been to this backyard many times. They were familiar. I would put a latter up against the wall for the little guys. That may save the plant.

    • @@AravindVimal-zv8kt Bears have been walking this earth since the Pleistocene epoch 2.5 million to 11,000 years ago, specifically the 'Arctotherium angustidens' and the giant short-faced bear (Arctodus simus) which, on all fours, stood taller than a 6-foot man. Therefore, they were here first, before me and definitely before the likes of you. And don't say "our jungle & our rules." Don't include the rest of society in your nonsensical and selfish blather. All creatures, including the gentle mother bear and her babies in this video, deserve to survive and thrive. And a dip in a neighbor's pool is nothing you should worry your little brain about.

    • @tanyasimon595 I admire your respect for animals. 😊. I cringe when developers cut down acres and acres of trees to build houses and squeeze out 🐻 bears and 🦌 deer and other wildlife. And what do the "authorities" do? Their answer is a bear/deer hunt to "thin the herd" when they cause the problem. 😢 It's refreshing to read comments such as yours to put the knuckleheads in their place. 😂

California's state flag was decorated with the picture of a grizzly bear as a symbol of strength and ferocity during the 19th century wartime secession from Mexico. And, yet, following annexation by the United States, the California grizzly was hunted to extinction within ninety years! Let's hope the same never happens to the black bears of California (cinnamon-colored or otherwise).

While the other, reluctant to get wet, hesitantly pops in for a dip only leave the pool in search of a toy to play with. I do hope your shoes and pottery endured the rough playing. 😊 Thank you so much for sharing this. ❤

    • I have a large rubber livestock trough and my bear Fluffy had two cubs last year: bobbing for apples at 3 am., but yes, two different personalities and they squabble like entitled teenagers. My lawn is a game trail down to the lake and most of my neighbours in Canada this is their second/third home so they're almost never there. One works in Dubai. Misses all the hilarity.
