Props to Bardet for remembering the humanity and looking after a fellow racer. Sportsmanship!
That's how I knew it was bad 😔
There should be an award for that. Chapeau!
It’s just humanity. His friend was injured, he tried to help. If you’re amazed by that, something is going wrong nowadays
Brett loves it when Remco talks about himself in the 3rd person.
It's an interesting trait. A sign of?
Lol thats next lvl narcissism
@@CowneloAlvaroid yes next level narcissism
He is a former football player, his hero might of been zlatan who always talks in the third person. Hah
he didn't mention evenepoel, but aside from names,he won
It's been a while since we saw a truly termonuclear attack. The man almost blew up his own bike :o
exactly, it's been a while...
Absolutely. Easily the most savage attack I've seen in at least a few years.
Vanderpoel's strade bianche
@@abp1400 Some say they're still scraping off the rubber from the tarmac on that climb
Alaphilippe in the world championships 2021
Love the phonetic spelling of 'Benwah Cosnefrah' nicely done Lanterne Rouge
Just wanna raise my hand as an absolute Tim Declerq stan to say that it brings me great joy to once again see a man the size of an aircraft carrier dragging the peloton forward. Welcome back, El Tractor.
Remco: one of the lowest drag coefficients on a road bike. Tim: putting the whole peleton out of the wind with his shoulders.
I said a couple weeks ago, their success in classics season hinges on big tim being fit and leading the way.
Tim is an absolute beast and a gentle giant. Legend.
Also, for any Declercq fans out there, Steven Seiler has a great interview on his channel, talks with Tim about training, titled, "Tim Declercq 10 questions interview".
Unfortunately he doesn't have the same power anymore, it's obvious.
"no favourite riders on this channel but...RRRRUMCO EVENEPOEL" 🤣
“The best Remco since turning Pro” - always speak in the third person
That's a nasty crash for Julian. Hope he makes a swift and full recovery. Fantastic solo from Remco
Yeah. Hate to see him get injured. He rides so hard and is so great for the sport. A scapular injury means he hit exceptionally hard and it will be quite some time before he is racing again.
Can't remember seeing a solo like this from La Redoute....what an amazing performance from Evenepoel!!!!
I heard the announcers saying it hasn't happened in decades. It used to be fairly common, but in recent years, nobody has been able to do it.
Frank Vandebrouck in 1999 was the alst one if I remember well
@@orval21 Vandenbroucke was caught again after La Redoute, though. Only to attack again on Saint Nicholas and win in the end.
It is the longest solo in LBL since Hinault in 1980. Most epic edition ever
"banwah cosnefrwah" as a frenchman this sent me😭
2:28 "Benwah Cosnefrah" Absolutely butchered that name... And I love it!
Remco literally put himself back on the map with this win. Just when it looked like he isnt the wonder boy, he struck back. Nice one. Super strong and probably the most aero guy ever.
No VDP NO POGA
@@AlexGrocio not a race for VDP
@@AlexGrocio VDP already got dropped on the hills at AGR lol, what makes you think he could compete at LBL yesterday?
A super fast bike,by the looks of it🚀
How did VDP smoke people at Strada before if he can't handle hills?
WVA is so good he shuts down the entire group by just being there. It's happened so many times this past year.
The Sagan curse
Not surehe made a difference here this time. They were already fighting for second place before he got back
@@LF-hj8kk true. This isn't as bad as in Roubaix and Tokyo
Too good for his own good i see
@@LF-hj8kk You're right but he said in itw that he was the one putting a lot of efforts in order for the 3rd group to get back on Vlasov (that's also the reason why his sprint was not so dominant, without disrespecting Herman's sprinting abilities)
I assumed that when he was pointing to his head it was to indicate that he'd beaten the mental demons holding him back. Not an egotistical thing at all. I could be wrong. BTW, have you noticed how good he is yet?
He is so good and has such a big ego that i cant stand him. But i agree he is good though
He's pointing to his head because he needs a bigger helmet now.
He wasn't pointing at his head. He was holding up 1 finger as in I'M NUMBER 1 ya goofs
He was pointing out the tuft of hair sticking out, which is Pogi's secret to success
@@russellgeisthardt9828 hahaha😆
Great win for the lad - pleased for him. Gutted for Julian - get well soon big man 👍
Wout Poels dangling 50 metres off the front of the peloton after Landa's pointless attacks is the stuff of LR dreams 🤤
Remco definitely benefitted from the work of Landismo and co. They made the race hard early and Remco’s blistering attack was all the more effective for it. I was left scratching my head after all the work they did though. I had considered that they were working for Mohoric, and that he may try and escape over the top of the climb and down the descent, but instead they did nothing and seemed content to waste their energy for no real purpose.
@@cellestinohernendes3081 agree, strange last hour or so from Bahrain given they seemed itent on controlling the race (not surprising given the strength of their squad)
@@benhuish2400 Really weird indeed. 3 minutes before Landa started attacking, I thought to myself that they were gonna ride in front to prevent attacks and drop Teuns on the roche aux faucons. I was already dreading another 30 boring kilometers. Glad they chose not to even if I wouldn't have played it like that.
@@cellestinohernendes3081 they had the numbers, so those accelerations were part of the whittling down process. The only real mistake they made was to underestimate an attack on Redoute - or at least Teuns was way too far back and should've been closer to the front when Vansevenant and Remco started to ramp the pace up.
@@MichaelBoogerd I understand what they were trying to do. Still a head scratcher that they wasted all that effort.
2:35 « Benwah Cosnefrah » 😭😭
Truly deserving of being called a thermo nuclear attack. Some say that label can make or break a riders palmares
It was so explosive that he almost broke his bike lol
Benwah cosnefrah
Pneumothorax/hemothorax means that the lung is penetrated and has collapsed and its also filled with blood, pretty serious injury if you ask me.
Pneumothorax is a weird thing. It can be very serious when traumatic like here but can also happen spontaniously
It depends on the amount of air or blood depressing the lung. I’ve had a pneumothorax after being hit by a car. It sucked but it was luckily pretty minor and I didn’t need a tube. My respirations were stuck at 25/30 for a day or two and I had trouble catching my breath during even mild exercise for around a month. Not a horrible recovery otherwise. It’d probably put a bike racer out of commission for a little while though
Yeah LR was way too flippant with his injury. This was a serious life-threatening injury.
yup had it last summer after serious MTB crash, 11 fractured ribs (8 on right side, 3 on left), both punctured/collapsed lungs, both had tubes, and ended up with general staphylococcus infection from tubes.... which looking bad turned out to be the worst part of all of it...
Damn Armirail is a beast. He basically made it all the way from the morning break. Shades of Jacky Durand in that guy.
You know Jacky Durand ?
He just went berserk - I can’t recall a rider going that hard to maintain the break - in between the attack and the last few hundred meters he did not look back once. Super impressive.
He didn't points to his head to say "It's an incredible smart performance". He said in a french interview that it was all for the "mental" he has needed after his crash last year to come back to this level.
But also a little to say "who's the boss", dont lie haha
can we talk about how much of a hero romain bardet is?
yea, homie got off the bike and straight into that ditch!
no. only remco and his sick as fk 30km solo attack
@@WHAT_1400 Why you say that? It's not the same.I love bike races so to see Remco winning his first monument is a big pleasure. But Bardet ,with Alaphilippe, what a beautiful person!
We will discuss that in another video.
I was born in 1961. I've seen and lived Merckx. An unbelievable happening. So is Evenpoel. Something that just happens. Nothing can be done about it. He's just too strong. He's a happening, a kid no-one can oppose to. He's gonna win everything he takes part of. Tour Of Italy, Tour De France, everything. Merckx will have a big smile on his face when watching this guy ride.
It’s the very small things such as 4:12 hopping over the round about, getting a small gap. That make a good rider, a great racer
A year or so he would be the one not jumping
Yeah! I hope abirail was taking notes, that was the exact moment he lost his wheel!
@@debcress6718 nope, he reached Armirail later, it's in the video as well..
@@kapsch6 you're right, it was another rider from the original group!
Yeah that was great thinking, spur of the moment thing to maintain a better line and speed.
Like always: Great video. Great Analysis. Great emotions (remco attack scream) and dry humor!
Is the attack from Remco, the second thermobiblical attack in history? The other one being MvdP in Strade Bianche.
No, I think he was underestimated and benefitted from disorganization behind. Very strong, but I think big names could have closed if they felt they needed to.
I thought bernal and roglic on covadonga was the other one 🤔
@@teffisk yeah if teuns was on his wheel then it would have been very possible he could follow him and make the race interesting. Martinez as well I think lost the race on that climb.
MvdP at Strade was mind blowing. I re-watch that every once in a while just to marvel.
@@teffisk you underestimate the other professional riders. Everybody are well aware that Remco’s is a hell of cronoman and it is extremely hard to catch him once he has an advantage of 20/30 seconds. To catch him all of the riders should have ridden at their maximum and Vlasov demonstrated that even though he was pushing over his limits the gap remained steady for a while and then it started again to grow. After 250 Kms even though you are in a group it often happens that you cannot catch the rider in front if he does not have any fault. Van Vleuten proved the same just few hours before. Take into consideration that nobody will push at the very limits when you are in a small group chasing another one and yesterday they showed that even though there was a moment where they were trying to evade from the chasing group the could not catch him since they were at their limit and had to slow down a little. I would add that in those circumstances it is also better that the rider in front is alone because he/she can really puts everything until the last meter. Yesterday Evenepoel was the strongest and he proved it. Full stop!
Whenever @lanterne puts "THERMONUCLEAR" in all caps in a video, you know it's going to be a banger
Cosnefwah typo in the captions.. love it! :D Dani Martinez complained his chain dropped when Remco attacked on Redoute, so that's maybe why he went out of the picture quick... brought back by Thomas before Roche Faucons
I LOVE to see Remco getting his drive back at the WT level.
One of the rider name inserts was done by Chris Horner ;)
Great to see a footballer destroy such a star studded field purely on strength, power and guts. The 3rd person Remco is back!
Bruhhh Alaphilippe needs a break from crashing.
Roglic vs JA for the GOAT among crashers
Ala loves the crashes...im not a fan of him & find it amusing.

I wonder what Eddy Merckx has to say about Remco's awesome performance. I'm betting that he's full of praise, as always.
Hopping the curb at the roundabout at 4:15 was absolutely savage. GG Remco 🤝
I have heard the term "shot out of a cannon" before, but this was the most visual representation I have ever witnessed. That attack was nuts. Also, I don't know what his mom was saying to him after, but I'm pretty sure it meant, "tell those haters to go #@$% themselves."
His mum said "you did it, you just did it"
The Eurosport recap made no mention of how serious Julian's injuries were. It's not-so-small details like this that make me adore your channel. Crazy to see the amount of engagement in your comments sections compared to all other cycling coverage, and well-deserved. 👏👏👏
So much better than Eurosport. Great coverage LR
«Benwah Cosnefrah»💀
Lantern Rouge with another class breakdown.
So many amazing young riders right now. Fun time to be a fan.
Martinez had a mechanical at the top of the Redoute, that's why we can't see him when Remco lauches his attack
Always having fun with your Benwah Cosnefwah haha
"already got one out of the way." Lanterne, I'm glad you don't lose your sense of dry humor in even the most devastating scenarios. ;)
I am absolutely DELIGHTED that Evenepoel was the one to break Quickstep's drought - maybe Patrick Lefevre can finally shut his mouth
EPIC ride from Remco... brilliant to watch
I was surprised to see Benwah Cosnefrah (2:31) in this race. I did not expect him here...
Benwah Cosnefrah hahahaha :)
Gold Lantern...Gold. I request a REMCO every time he wins. That is now the correct manner in which the young man's name is spoken :)
you can consider me silenced and his post race interview was great
Did the La Redoute 2 years ago to close off a 100k ride, I died 3 times getting to the top and this guys launches an attack like this after already doing 220k. Insane!
Magnificent victory, truly deserved. He can now release steam and evolve. Still think he could be a classics man.
He should try for grand tours. If it happens it happens. If it doesnt he can still go for classics
Remco rock and roll, turns,gap,close...and gone...smart performance
Really happy for Remco after all the relentless hate he gets from shitty journalists and social media drones. Gonna be a nice rest for his mental health
Brilliant analysis as always.
remco's attack was absolutely vicious
REMCO is going to be fun to watch for years to come!!
from podcast straight here :D i am glad for remco

Loved to see Powless really in the mix! Also, let's see MORE of the captioning a la "Benwah"! :D Please do it for your pronunciation of Hirschi! Heershee??
Just don't use the pronunciation Simon Gerrans uses for Remco - "Evanderpole" - it drives me crazy!
I saw earlier today somewhere, can't remember where, Martinez mentioned having some sort of mechanical issue when Remco was attacking. Very vague from me, I know, but the information is out there somewhere.
That is where Remco is Dangerous... Attacking on low steep at the finish of the climb where the peloton is on low speed... When he tries to attack when he is on a high pace it is just impossible for him, but with that radical change of speed he really can crush em all!!
How can you say this did not save QS's classic season? Winning any of the Monuments is success for a classics based team. Not to mention a win a KBK. Granted Ienos has made it much tougher on QS in the classics... because Ienos knows they won't win the TdF this year so they put more focus on one day races.
Smacking my desk in celebration for Hermans, cos I'm a stan for any CX rider. He's 4th wheel up la redoute, and gets dropped just before WVA but sneaks back on with the messing around, some legal elbows out in the sprint with 600m. Fuggin champ

The one most troubled by this Remco win is wva b c of his past w Remco and b c now of the future at world championships and at oly road race Remco talks about himself in the third person. As Caesar did. As Alexander did
I don't really think that is the case, the media has just heavily overblown how bad there relations is and Remco always was going to be a co-leader at those races, last year was special due to Remco's long recovery. And I saw nothing wrong with Remco refering to third person here, maybe it is just because I am dutch too and this is a normal thing expression to say here.
