    • If he was not with jumbo and had a more competetive and less team-oriented attitude, he would be one of the best GC-riders in the world. I am convinced of it. But as a dane, I am BEYOND happy to have him on Vingegaard's team! He is absolutely incredible! It is really amazing what Jumbo has done in that sense. Take super versatile star riders like Wout van Art and Sepp Kuss, who could easily compete for more titles and stages with lesser teams (probably with less results though) and turn them into INCREDIBLE domestiques for the best team in world cycling right now. So cool to watch!

  • Jumbo Visma is so OP it's almost not funny any more. I cannot remember a team with so much pure talent in a really long time. Today's stage was a perfect example. Bossing the entire stage, controlling a huge break away, and still having Kuss, Jonas and Rogla on the last ramp to bully Remco is just mad. Imagine getting "attacked" by one of the best climbers in the world, and turning your head to see both the TDF and Giro winners sucking your wheel, all working together to break you. It must be so mentally hard. I feel for Remco and Poggi having to battle the most insane team in cycling history. I can see why Remco has been "complaining" about his team

      @huttonsdubai411@huttonsdubai4118 ай бұрын
    • @@huttonsdubai411You're confusing green washing and sports washing (both bad but slightly different). Many people do criticize teams like Ineos and Total Energies for being funded by fossil fuel companies. Just look at the criticism of the GB cycling team at the world champs a couple of weeks ago for being sponsored by Shell. The sports washing criticism is more aimed at the gulf states and Kazakhstan (Astana) because they're using sports sponsorship to launder their image on the world stage in the hopes that we will forget about the human rights violations, mistreatment of minorities, women and migrant workers. It's not just cycling that's being used. It's a farce watching sporting events put on at huge expense with no crowds in an environment that doesn't suit the sport just so the simple minded can look past the crimes these countries are perpetrating. It's a bummer

      @KD_cycling@KD_cycling8 ай бұрын
    • @@huttonsdubai411 Nobody said entities from the West are not involved in similar activities. Just like governments of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Israel, etc think they need to wash their regimes in the eyes of international audiences by using sports and sports teams for that purpose, you have examples of Western climate-wrecking megacorporations like Ineos doing greenwashing in the same way. But my comment was highlighting the Middle Eastern regimes because it was about Jumbo-Visma, who are believed to have signed a deal with a Saudi sportswashing project starting next year. I'm also not from the "West" and not taking some particular point of view based on that.

    • @@huttonsdubai411 off topic, but why the way I want to know why "the West" thinks the middle east is somehow not part of the West. :) Here in the West we teach ourselves "Western Civilization," and we might start with a week on the origin of western written language (Mesopotamia) or western government (Egypt), but then somehow it's quickly on to Greece and Rome. [ and then we teach ourselves that "Rome" doesn't include the last 700 years of the Roman empire, too :) shit, the Christian bible wasn't even codified in "the West," the way these people think ...... ]

There’s my fellow Hungarian Attila Valter, who is capable to pace climbs like an absolute animal and there’s Jonas and Primoz who’s attacks have to be handled if Kuss fades (and that is a big if). • Remco is doing an admirable job taking on the Jumbo team on his own. I know he's not in peak form but still has there been a less explosive TdF winner than Vingegaard? He can go hard for a long time but has no extra gear.

    • He is not as eksplosive as Pogacar and Remco, but probably more eksplosive than the rest of the peloton as we saw in the tour on Planche de belle Fille, Colombier and Puy de Dome - nobody was even close to follow when he went with Pogacar.

Remco wouldnt chase UAE, Jumbo would. If Jumbo reacts on UAE attacks and Remco follows, then Remco can kill Jumbo woth UAE together
