It was painful to watch when Remco had such a bad crash while he was rising like the brightest star there ever has been. Thank god he returned to top form and became a grand tour contender as he wanted, albeit being delayed by this crash
Wasn't painful for me to watch. Didn't hurt at all.

STEVE❤
@@Blueknight1960 you must be fun at parties
Even if we split bike crashes to "deadly crash" and "just serious crash" I'd argue that Jacobsen's crash in 2020 Tour of Poland looked much more seriously. And the injuries were worse. Having said that - Remco's recovery and ability to back to the absolute top... truly amazing & inspiring.
Agreed, the fact Fabio even recovered mentally is unbelievable. Remco was darn lucky though (or unlucky, one more inch to the left and he would have missed the lip of that bridge.)
@@independentmind1977Fabio's recovery up to winning a TdF stage was miraculous
It may not be "the" most distrubing crash but its still "a" most disturbing crash.
If I remember correctly he almost bled to death in the hospital, at the very least it was more serious than it seemed.
Can we not compare tragic accidents?? Wtf
Some of the best production on a smaller KZhead channel that I've ever seen. Good work guys!
Thank you!
Agreed 👍
@@RIFIANBOY Your voice lends itself so well to these kinds of videos! Are you producing all of it by your own? I saw only 2 videos of you, but I'm hooked and I'm not even into road cycling! :D Do you know the YT channel "Ahoy"? He's my favorite presenter, but you get my silver medal! :)
The art looks really good
@@MaeckesPlanB Sad to disappoint you, but this is an artificial, computergenerated voice. And seriously, I'm very tired of these.
As a non cycling fan.. your Videos made me fall in love with this sport.. thanks a lot
Glad you like them!
Its a truly great sport even as an amateur. Keeps you fit, warm and hungry and is also a great way of getting around without fossil fuels on a daily basis in town for example. Unfortunately some places (Dallas comes to mind) have been built around the car. I live in Europe where biycles are common place.
Never heard of him, but I really enjoyed his story. I hope he has a long and successful career and finds happiness doing the sport he loves. His Dad will be so proud I'm sure.
The entire cycling world is proud.
Is one of the best cyclist in the world, and you never heard of him???wtf??
i havent either... cycling isnt exactly a sport that everyone is aware of or into, such as basketball etc... most people like myself see the world of cycling as the tour de france and the odd triathlon but thats about it. not a sport that makes ESPN or breaking news etc... the original comment is totally harmless and accurate. @@XxConcor85xX

This kid is spetacular, saw him win de Vuelta,in 2022 and last year he was amazing wining several stages and always atacking.
So glad to see new astonishing content from you!
Thank you for the Super Thanks @WilhelmGutentag. I really appreciate it.
I'm just surprised why channels like GCN don’t sub-co you to make such content for them-you guys easily best most professional productions.
I've always been a big fan of GCN. If they reach out, I'll be delighted to work with them.
His story deserves a movie!
It's not about all the achievements, records and awards that he received that made him! It's the suffering and painful moments that he perceives that build a man to be resilient.
Winning 9 months after his crash is insane considering how much muscle mass and endurance he must have lost while recovering
The combination or narration, music, and editing make this upload absolutely brilliant! Good fun! Keep doing what you do 👍‼
Thank you! Will do!
Fantastic video. I’m a roadie by way of hobby/fitness with very little knowledge of competitive cycling. I didn’t know any of this! Very interesting stuff. I was stoked to see he made a comeback.
Well, Casartelli. I was racing that year and we had a lot of serious crashes then Casatelli got killed and there was a lot of stress and nervousness in the pack and we had a prayer for Fabio before the race and we prayed for a safe race and we rolled off all jittery. Fabio Casartelli is no longer with us, but Remco is. Tough sport. I retired without too many bad crashes.
I watched Remco win in Australia last year, I did not know much about him. Great video.
I would have had such PTSD after that, which I don't think I could have come back from. A very lucky and talented young man!
he has ptsd, you can see he is much more careful in descents which often makes him lose time
This is very inspiring! This truly an inspiration to never give up , because all is possible. Great job young man 👍🏻
what a video!! great job 👏🏻. Remco’s courage to return to the race after 9 months of his injury is truly commendable! He exemplifies bravery and talent, it’s impressive to see him excel in cycling. also it’s great that he found himself in cycling! I’m happy for him
Fantastic video production. Really well put together. Thank you 👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant editing work mate. Enjoyed the vdeo.
Thanks a ton
Great video, all the salient points, well produced, entertaining and enjoyable.
I do believe he had reconned that descent and specifically that tricky part and knew which line to ride, but then for some reason followed a wrong line (I don't remember if it was something to do with the riders in front, him misremembering, ...)
Even amongst nonfatal crashes, this was not the worst. Fabio Jakobsen comes to mind
You can't show the actual WORST crashes here on KZhead. But if I titled this video "The most average bike crash ever", nobody would want to watch it.
In my eyes this is definately one of the worst crashes. I have seen this live on TV and a lot of people probably thought he might be dead, concidering how high that bridge looked. Surely one of the biggest shocks for me as a viewer.
@@RIFIANBOY Fabio's was not fatal and is all over KZhead and was live broadcasted. It's way worse than this
Casettelli's fatal, the worst. We don't see the actual fall, but come on it just after. It breaks my heart everything I see it. Vino's fall was awful too.
@@RIFIANBOY u still click baited. Dont act snobby.
One thing this also highlights is the massive difference between hitting concrete and hitting soil. Even when it feels like hard dirt and by stepping on it, it may feel pretty similar, the difference is huge.
Fabulous story! A true inspiration showing courage and the ability to say to himself never give up!!!..his resilience is beyond words, well done young man and wishing you all the success you deserve
When I watch your videos it always gave me goosebumps. Thanks for these top class videos.
Rifian's editing is astonishing
Thanks!
And story telling!
Thanks for another great video. I don't cycle, but you definitely make me interested.
I like all of your videos. Interesting to watch
THE EDITING IS SUPERB 🔥
Amazing video mate, as always!
Thanks Francesco
This video is really really well put together so good.
Thank you
I have infinite respect for this rider❤
I was riding granfondo IL Lombardia in October 2023 and didn't know that I'm gonna cycle that downhill, but when I saw that bridge I got goosebumps 😬
Lesson learned :never give up when we full down instead we stand and face the challenges until we success and win the battle
I assessed this to see a crash and turns out this was actually a biography of an athlete.
I'm surprised they let him get on a plane and go home the very night that it happened. He's very lucky and I'm glad he's ok.
No he stayed the first night in Italy.
Dude just won the closing stage of Paris-Nice, coming in second to Jorgenson in the GC. I'd say he's back in form. Excited to see where he goes from here.
Was watching this live that day and for some reason i just knew something was gonna happen, had a really strange feeling really weird :( Luckely he survived and made a full recovery.
I'm so glad this young man survived that ordeal!!! I fell out of a window (2stories).. shattered my my c5 (neck).. broke my back in 2 places... and was told by the surgeon that I was lucky not to be paralyzed or dead!!... I recovered very well and am able to still ride skateboards and wrestle big girls!🤣
😏🙏🏻🫡😝
I remember that very vividly. I had a friend coming over to watch the race with me and he literally got here a minute after the crash and I remember telling him that someone "just crashed and went over the railing of a bridge and very possibly died from it".
Bernard Hinault had a similar crash while leading a race. He only fell about 3 meters though. The crazy sob then got back on his bike bruised, cut up and bloody and won it. Few cyclist were as fascinating to watch as Hinault.
Wish ya all the best for the future mate ✌🏻💖
I am extremely proud of him as a Belgian!
All around great video! The suspenseful writing, the production, the narration. Seriously, top notch!
Thanks
This man is a hero among men. What a true champion!
Really good editing!
Excellent documentary,thank you.
I had the same type of accident off a bridge in the summer of 2023 on Monte Serra, also in Italy. Broken collarbone and 2 vertebrae but fortunately I'm back on the bike
Amazing video man..
Thanks for helping me on my narrative story
Channel deserves at least 1mil subs
6:10 "and the forest floors thick layer of leaves dampened his fall". Mate i counted about 10 leaves on one branch. Not sure how much help that would be with a 9m drop.
I didn't see the title of the video and for a few minutes I thought he was dead, thank the gods for keeping the boy alive and well, I want to support him forever from now on!
I’m new to the sport and didn’t know this story. Even though I’m a fan of Tadej Pogacar, I’ll also cheer for Remco’s ride this Tour de France!!

A friend of mine used to race for sagans junior team and now he is also on quickstep
Not into cycling but this young man is a legend
first time i did hear his name! crazy he was succesful right away after switching from football!
Annemiek van Vleuten’s crash in the Olympics was one of the most horrifying I’ve ever seen.
Underrated content creator...
what an incredible human very inspiring
Their is something with Belgians, long recoveries and then shredding the peloton to bits. Wout Van Aert did a similar feat after his TT-crash in the Tour.
Speedy recovery for Wout !
Amazing story, what an athlete!
What a phenomenal athlete with hard core determination. Well done remco
i guess you could say that crash was just water under the bridge for him
My understanding of his early career was that he was on the defender/midfield position on a soccer field so getting let off is not surprising since he wasn't in a position where he was the top person on the team and explains why he might've had team leader roles. He was also riding casually with his friends at that point where he was able to keep that high tempo to transition into races/ have his high V0max discovered. As for his recovery I think the two biggest things for him was stretching to get into his aero bullet position and getting more leaner over the years.
Totally crazy to have a bicycle competition on such an outrageously dangerous road absolutely crazy
Great video!
He is an exceptional athlete. Being topclass in his age with football and worldclass in such a short time on the bicycle. There are very few that can do it. But Roglic is a similar case I think.
I watch cycling from time to time, I knew about him before and after the injury ofc and I had vaguely heard about it but I had never realized how dangerous it had been. Mad respect to him. That’s a true champion, one of the best comeback stories you’ll ever hear. Great video too!
what a wonderful story!
Power of the human mind, some simply has it! Thanks for sharing this video! :)
I have no interest at all in cycling but this young lad is something else, to come through that accident and achieve all that he did is incredible. 👍🏴
Gee Atherton tumbling down a hill full of jagged rocks is downright disturbing to watch.
What a man ❤
YOU NEVER STOP ACCUSING ME! MAY IT GO BACK TO YOU
He came so far with hes life, but then this happend. Respect for the guy❤😢
Fun to watch because he basically just has one setting: BALLZ OUT. Sometimes that = a win... but sometimes that = a crash. Either way--fun to watch.
this gives me hope that I'll be able to continue riding my dirtbike...I recently just around 2 months ago flipped OTB. and felt my knee pop and i couldn't walk on it. never went to the hospital cause i was scared what they'd tell me. i can walk normally and almost have made a somewhat full recovery...Doing P.T. and stretching and getting my leg used to walking again was a unique experience. you truly don't know how much you use each of your limbs until you can't use one anymore.
Look at the ring of boulders he landed between. My dad once fell from a bridge when he was coming up a construction ladder with its bolts on the wrong side of the bracket and landed in a puddle amongst boulders.
Bro is legendary
Proof that no amount of skill, endurance, or brilliance could replace *experience*
Even the experienced riders fall sometimes...
I don’t know this guy but his story is amazing 🤩 😮
Sad you didn't include this years world champion time trial win in the video! He has also won that one which is amazing!
I had already finished the video when Remco won the TT worlds.
Go on lad! 💪🏼
I am so happy for him. My daughter started in soccer and raced bikes against the boys only. She got 2 soccer scholarships for college and went pro, then got hurt real bad playing soccer and was told she would never play again. She just does triathlons and races bikes now.
Wow i thought pickle ball was exciting, i had no idea riding a bike was this dangerous. Thx for your service
What a heart wrenching story with a magnificent outcome for this amazing determined young man! ❤️
This video motivated me more than any other motivational video. Just love his story...
Incredible comeback
Wow, now that is one dedicated cyclist to come back after such a serious crash!
I remember the Tour de France of 1995. Italian Casartelli did not survive a crash.
Indeed, a force!!! ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
I’m glad he’s okay 😢
Chills!
I fell 11 feet & it has all but ruined my life. I’ve had five surgeries in six years but I’ll never be right again, I work everyday to come to grips with that.
i know this is serious vid about his crash but 6:05 that tan line is insane
It's not easy to regain your "edge" after such crashes. Only a very young mind can forget that "time you almost died" and keep pushing the envelope.
I used to be a amateur cyclist but when my team akways been mean to me i change to football that is my original fav sport but both cycling and football are my really sports❤
Terrible chute, j'ai pensé qu'il était mort en direct 😱 🙏
