The 2021 US Open main draw runs from August 30 - September 12 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 141st time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Dominic Thiem is the men’s singles defending champion but has withdrawn following an injury. Naomi Osaka is the women’s singles defending champion and will be aiming to claim the title for the third time in four years. Meanwhile, No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic looks to complete the calendar Grand Slam after winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon already this year. Should the Serbian lift the title here for the fifth time, he will also overtake Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to become the first-ever man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. With full capacity crowds back again, it’s time for the greatest return!

It’s very rare that you see a teenage player come into their FIRST TWO MAJOR TOURNAMENTS (for those of you who can’t read) and make such a big impact, Emma plays with such conviction, has tactical prowess beyond her years, and the power and precision to back it up, but also (perhaps most importantly) terrific mental resilience, she was 0-30 down in her final service game and held her nerve admirably, as long as she keeps growing and developing I see no reason why Raducanu can’t become a top, top player down the line!
@Khepri I was thinking more Hingis, Seles and Sharapova 😊

I've read several comments saying that she had an easy draw, that she hadn't been able to beat a top-15 and so on. That's partially true, but playing in her third week (and 4th round at Wimbledon), now beating Bencic and being in the semis at 18 has to mean something. Her baseline game is really consistent and powerful, as is her mental ability to change it up. I hope she doesn't end up being a one hit wonder. Raducanu seems to have an exceptional game and consistency. Let's see...
I think she’s exceptional. She really has had an easy draw though….
You can only beat what's put in front of you
@@jameshampton5659 I'd like to know what was easy about playing the Olympic champion today
Can anyone who comes from qualy have an easy draw in a GS ??
Fernandez had a harder draw. Fernandez for the win 🇨🇦🍁
Raducanu played her first WTA match at the beginning of June. She lost in straight sets to Harriet Dart. In just 3 months she's risen over 300 ranking places.
Incredible really, but it is possible in women’s tennis because there’s a lot of inconsistency.
when was the last time this happened? maybe Sharapova with Wimbledon?
@@nn22939 kind of unfair generalisation, there are a lot of idiots in the UK, but there are also a great deal of intelligent, level headed folk who hate the right wing and embrace internationalism.

And she has gone from British number 10 to British number 1 in the same timeframe.. Unbelievable.
Raducanu won 2 sets to love, 12 games to 7, but this video shows more points won by Bencic.
Yeah, i don’t understand that either. Surely the editors could, and probably should, have found more points won by Emma. I think most people coming to watch this want to see the action from the teenage sensation.

Let me share with you guys a few things that I know personally about Emma.... She is 100% genuine. She's kind, respectful and humble. The way you see her during interviews is exactly the way she is off the field. I am so so proud of her and it brings me to tears because she deserves every bit of happiness and success.

I want a Fernandez/Raducanu final now.
I think we all do!
Don't we all! :) It's unlikely, but a lot more likely than a week ago so who knows?
Me too. Wish them both the best for their semi final.
I thought so too, with fernandez and svitolina. Now we have 2 18 years old in the semis of their young career life.
Fernandez turned 19 a few days ago
I have noticed that Emma's court performances just over the last few months have been nothing less than absolutely unbelievable. Just goes to show that failure is a pre-requisite to success and her mental ability and confidence now is flowing like a rapid. I think we're about to see a whole lot more from this young lady. Her smile says it all.
Radacanu doesn't feel like another "teenage sensation" - she has been the better player in every single set she's played. She looks like she belongs already.
Why did she not perform better than a second at the Olympic? Make me wonder when will the pressure will break the momentum?

Emma Raducanu is unbelievable! So excited to see what the future holds for her
Lets see how she performs in future. Seeds in women's tennis hardly matters. One who is top seeded today will be out of top 50 next years. No one shows any consistency except very few players.
How many grand slam can she win in the future?
How do these highlights not have the best point in the match, a thrilling 20-odd shot rally that Raducanu won with a winner?! I think to bring up her break point for 5-3 in the first set. Edit: Well, to be fair, it got its own separate video :)
She has absolutely dismantled every opponent out in front of her… in her 3rd and 4th round matches she had runs of winning 11 games in a row?! That is ELITE!!!
Perhaps we should nickname her The Mangler! Her mind is a TRAP.

Such slick efficiency from Raducanu. No screeching, no yelling, no attitude. A genuine role model

this video is selective & biased, -only shows Bencic's winning point s and not Emma's whereas it was the latter (Emma) who trashed Bencic by two sets straight!
I agree. Biased editing
Was going to say the same thing but you said it better
The problem is these videos are so short they never give a representative overview of the match, either way
Or maybe it's consolation editing as Bencic won't get to appear in another highlights video this year 😄 But i do agree if you didn't know the result and only watched the video you'd think the scoreline would be the other way around.
Leyla vs Raducanu finals pleaaaassseeeeee
Feels like most of these highlights shows Bencic winning the point. Made me think that Emma Raducanu was in Yellow instead of Red.
Shows the Americans are firing with jealousy.Well its obvious🤷🏻♂️
Agreed, i re watched the video, it's 6-5 in points won in favour of Bencic. Weird editing. Raducanu is the real deal, she has the game to go deep in the women's games. Not sure this level of progression would be so quick in the men's game though.
@@willgilsenan9163 Yes, highlights on this US Open channel have been so weird since Day 1. They like to show lots of loser's winners. I mean Raducanu was dominating the match the whole time if you watch live!
Exactly my first thought at watching the video. Weirdly edited to show the losing players winning more points.
Agreed, although it.may he because they regard the 'best' points as ones where a player makes a lot of improbable returns. That tends to be the winning player, although in any rally where you are being run from one end of the court to the other you will normally.lose the point.
Is it even possible to have an "easy draw" aged eighteen at only your second grand slam ranked 150 in the world?
It is, by having to play one of the Williams sisters.
Exactly. How can anything be easy when you still have everything to prove?
Great point, people talking like this isn't only her second slam ever. Every player she's had to play (bar the first round) is atleast 100 places above her…how does one class that as easy?
Easy draw and the girl played 3 more matches than the others as she is out of the qualifiers.
Yh agreed! The phrase an “easy draw” is nonsense especially as she’s duffed players that have previously beaten top 10 players including the world N*1! U can only beat who u get put up against 🤷♂️
I cannot believe what I’ve just been watching!!! Apart from Emma’s tennis, her attitude is second to none, her personality is a delight and she takes everything in her stride. Long may it continue. And NO fierce screaming as most players are doing today. Keep away from social media too. Certain Players and people get depressed even reading one bad comment about them.
A match with no grunting/screaming for a change.
@@chubun6631 She does grunt. But mildly!

Swinging freely and bags of confidence. Amazing how far that gets you when you mix with that with talent and technique.
Incroyable 👏🏽👏🏽
6-3, 6-4. So Raducanu won 12 games to 7, yet these highlights showed 80% Bencic points. I see they're hating on Raducanu
Exactly! So boased!
Agree; I can't believe the biased selection of points in this clip.
The fact that the top players such as Cirstea, Rogers and Bencic had the decency to go to Emma after the match and either hug her to go around to the other side of the court to congratulate her just shows how respectable she is as a player. People are saying Bencic didnt play well today and Emma has had it easy, but the stats also say it all. Emma doesnt make many unforced errors and is able to put her opponent in a difficult position to play. Just shows she has potential to be amongst the top players.

What this absolute queen is doing is simply staggering. To come from absolutely nowhere and within 3 months on the main tour to have made back to back slam 2nd weeks and at least a semi final (if not better) and to be Britain’s new number 1 and almost top 50 guaranteed is just unheard of in any sport from any nation let alone a Brit in tennis!!! Even Roger, Rafa, Serena, Nole etc weren’t this quick at the slams. The way she plays tactically aswell is similar to Andy when he 1st appeared, right shot at the right time but the key difference is Emma’s body (so far) is a lot better than his. It took Murray about 7 years to win a slam. It might not even take Emma 7 months (AO in January) to win one (assuming she doesn’t win tonight and Saturday)
