It amuses me how many people are ranting that "she doesn't care about the ball boy." Where does she claim she cares about the ball boy?? There are rules about throwing your racket, smashing your racket, arguing with officials etc that ALL players are subject too. She's arguing that ostapenko has committed a racket infringement, that is really serious, because it ended up hitting a ball boy. Do I think she should have argued about it so much and got distracted and emotional about it? No, she shouldn't have. But all this straw man bullshit that she's supposedly "pretending to care" about the ball boy is nonsense.
@LKeet6 Жыл бұрын
I genuinely thought Broady was concerned about the ballboy. Turns out she just wanted her opponent disqualified. Both were incredibly unprofessional in my opinion. You should never throw a racket as it is potentially dangerous and she was no where near the ball in fairness. It doesn't matter. Rules don't only apply for the top players. All those non top players are still fighting for rank and in turn sponsorship and media coverage. The other player threw - or released - her racket and it struck a ballboy in the shoulder. There should have been a penalty for that and not just a warning. Both of them look like Karens to me but Broady was right. They official went too easy on her. Other players in tennis did the exact same and were DQ'd, but she didn't even lose a point.

I genuinely thought Broady was concerned about the ballboy. Turns out she just wanted her opponent disqualified. Both were incredibly unprofessional in my opinion. You should never throw a racket as it is potentially dangerous and she was no where near the ball in fairness. Broady accused her of deliberately throwing the racket at the ball boy but didn't have the decency to see if he was okay. Poor from both players.

Exactly, people posting here have never played tennis before or know the rules. Intent doesnt matter, if you hit anyone with anything on a court you get the DQ, the end. Broady handled it poorly but she was right. If umpires let this shit slide anyone is free to hit an umpire or a ball kid and just say "woops, accident".
And to think years after this someone got disqualified for hitting a ball girl with the ball while passing it to her
Damn who are these bags giving women in tennis a bad rep? When Djok hit the line judge on accident, he immediately checked on them, apologized, respectfully listened to the official, and walked off.
