"Next time please use a permanent marker" is the most anger I've ever heard on this channel
Caught me off guard as well, but I get it lol.
I thought he was bleeding, so yeah I totally get the feeling. "oh it's the ink... that does suck"
instead of getting catty why not have the foresight to wear rubber gloves ? Even permanent markers can bleed with skin oils
What about any other object that touches? If it comes off on his hands then it would come off on other things as well. Check your extreme sensitivity at the door of KZhead... it will not serve you well here. And rubber gloves? Seriously? To open a package? Your commentary only makes sense in a world ravaged by a pandemic, not in any normal world where people formed their habits (like opening packages with your bare hands). If that's an acceptable form of packaging marking to you I feel great pity for anyone you mail things to.
@@TheActionBastard comments getting deleted I see. Its pretty obvious the marker was permanent as any other would have smudged in the previous handling and would negate the function as security scribble. The intelligent thing to do is NOT make assumptions as to the quality of the ink and to allow for the fact skin oils will make any type of marker bleed to some degree.
It took longer to open the packaging. I'm just going to start duct taping my bike to things.
dang it, I came here to make that joke! great minds...
Dude that seriously works just carry scissors. Takes some time but shit it's worth it

It was closer to 55 seconds from inserting the turning tool
Lock them up and wrap the lock!

Yo, I timed it too.... got a good chuckle out of that
Someone call the package opening lawyer.
A good lock for normal people. Against LPL, use duct tape, it's more secure.
Ducy tape win

@@DavidKirwanirl Well, if you want something to move, you use WD-40. if you want them to stop moving, you use Duct tape. Doesn't get more simple than that... And if it doesn't work, you're not using enough

"One lock might take 30 seconds, another might take ten times that." So the range for LPL to open a lock he's never seen before is between 30 and 300 seconds. Good to know. Also very likely to be accurate.
Where is this world, please, where 30´´ is considered short, but 300´´ is considered long (???), cause on my planet, both is simply considered "under 5minutes"... ;-) My Windows-PC always takes 30´´ to boot when new, and 300´´ after being in use some months, and I barely notice a difference... ;-)
Is there any video where LPL takes near 300 seconds to open a lock?!
@@klausbrinck2137 ???
@@klausbrinck2137lol idk why you are being so aggressive about it. You are entitled to think that those times are not very different certainly, but I would like to point out that the difference here isn’t about how long you have to wait for something, it’s how long a thief has to spend exposed picking your front door or the padlock on your storage unit where someone can try to stop them from getting in or raise the alarm. If it takes just 30 seconds it might also even be perceived as someone who is meant to be there fumbling with their keys.
@@harryf9885 Not aggressive, just pointing out that for average people, both 30 and 300 is short, we all know that from our everyday lives. I admit, that for a lockpicking-contest, there´s worlds in betwwen, but even among burglars, I bet, it makes no difference... ;-)

Not really, the lock requires special skills and knowledge of the lock. You have to know that the lock has a magnetic pin and have a tiny magnet for it.
Lesson learned: Wrap your locks before leaving the house.
Ill be dammed if i dont leave the house with a roll of white duck tape and a red marker.
@@jackinghamcook just make sure it’s permanent marker
@@TheRockIsCooking then how will you catch the crook red handed? 🤔
@@Bulletcore okay... wait...
@@Bulletcore you are correct
After watching too many of these videos, I've determined that half a roll of duct tape and some zip ties offer more theft resistance than any lock in production.
I mean, your right. Any lock exists as a deterrent, and there are far more secure ways to ensure something never opens again, if that's what you want. A lock tells any would-be thief: "Hey, this isn't worth it if you don't have the key." Considering most thieves want to get something quickly and quietly (some important exceptions apply), you can simply add enough time sinks to prevent most theft. Mummifying something in packaging means you (the owner) don't have an easy bypass, but you also know everyone will have to spend the time to cut through your valuable's deterrent. It becomes a question of how valuable is the item or location versus how much time and resources are you willing to spend on making sure others can't get it?
@@tsnap4 Dude, it was just a joke. Making fun of the fact it takes him longer to unwrap the locks that it does to pick them.
No lie!!
@@heathwasson7811 Hey, even if it's a joke - doesn't mean it cannot be the most accurate truth on the market. Jokes are funny like that...
I would genuinely like to see LPL’s process when he sees a new lock if he hasn’t done it already: how he analyzes it, if he looks at the key before he picks, how he tells what special tools he’ll need if any, etc.
He’s got so many videos doing just that my dude

I think he meant this more towards locks he's unfamiliar with. He has seen an ERA lock and key before, so he knows he needs to use a magnet, how many pins to set, and what tools to use. If you would make your own locks that you wouldn't sell anywhere then that would also make them harder to pick (also much more expensive).

Okay, this is a lock constructed of human bone, sinew, and hair... looks like infant bone. As you can see, it's attached to a chain wound around this musty tome. The book does appear to be making a muffled shriek, but that shouldn't pose too much of a problem. Let's see how this goes. ... Little click out of one...
@@CharlesCrawfordIV Oh eldrith horror screeching out of two..... let me get my necronomicon.
Looks like im going to have to use this special saint's bone that BosnianBill and i dug.
how do you know? Probably happened at the end of 2019
You forget one thing. He is a laywer. So those edlrich horrors give their cultists strict instructions not to do that. They would try to close all doors between them self and him and then hear Nice click out of one, nothing on two...
1:11 Red Security Scribble. Better than most Master locks.
Is that so they know if someone's gotten into the package and tried to seal it back up, or???
@@jonathan_herr Most likely.
I started giggling when he said that.
I laughed for 10 seconds straight on that one haha.
@@jonathan_herr That anonymous benefactor certainly is paranoid. "I better put some red security scribbles on the duct tape to make sure LPL does not open it up, figure out how to pick it, then seal it back up before making a video pretending like he just opened it!"
I've watched many many of your videos and you are always so respectful with these challenges and I have so much respect for you for being such a nice person and with that said and all summed up, YOU ARE A BEAST OF A LOCK PICKER!!! THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL THE GREAT VIDEOS.. YOU ROCK MR LOCK PICKING LAWYER!!
If the fact that the video is so short doesn't give you a clue, LPL only unwrapping it about halfway through would definitely clue you in. What a wizard.
Interviewer: What is the hardest part of making your videos LockPickingLawyer: Opening the package
This needs more like
When you see an LPL video that’s 5 minutes, you can automatically assume that at least 4 minutes of that video are going to be him opening the package
Or talking.
And when it is over 50 minutes, there is likely talk of his wife's beaver and how he thought of another use for a hole. I found his keynote address to be entertaining and informative. He also explains why his videos are so short.
Imagine the day someone sends him a package that was a simple metal slab covered tightly in duct-tape, challenging him to open it.
I love watching and learning from your videos so Tk u very much sir..
LPL: "How long a lock would take to open if I'd never seen it before. Unfortunately, it's an impossible question to answer because..." Me: "... you've seen each and every lock in the world".
And his answer was "anywhere from 30 seconds to ten times that", so any lock in under 5 minutes. That's not impossible to answer, it's a very narrow timeframe, bloody lawyers. ;)
Lol
Incorrect, he has seen every lock in the whole universe.
@@necro3678 Even those which have not been invented yet.
@@DarcyCowan there is that Bowley (?) lock that he's unable to pick, even after making custom tools for that
The thumbnail made me think that this was the SteakGrillingLawyer
Yeah, guga should try dry age padlock steak
I thought it was icecream you get from the manapua man
I was definitely thinking ice cream. Can he pick the lock before the soft serve melts?!
Wa kind of steak have you being eating lol
I thought it looked more like a turkey
Not sure why I find watching these videos so satisfying, given that it shows me how exposed $6000 touring bike is every time I leave it outside a supermarket.
Honestly dude, you're absolutely brilliant. Love the videos
Realistically this seems like a pretty secure lock. To open it you'd need to 1. identify the lock 2. Have a dimple-pick with you 3. Have a small magnet with you, and 4. have a LOT of skill. That rules out 99% of the potential thieves. If you're worried about LPL getting your stuff, just save everyone a lot of trouble and just hand it over to him! LOL
Or just use one of those deadbolt on your door without an external keyhole. He can't pick a lock he can't access. Or just hide the thing really well, or use extravagant laser traps, or really friendly dogs with machetes strapped to their heads, etc. the usual.
Or just wrap up your items in duct tape, paper, and red gue that will get on your hands.
Never seen criminals bother to pick locks anyway. Usually just use boot cutters. And if the lock is too strong for those then odds are the thing its locked around isn't nearly as strong.
Yep, @@dash4800, cut the cables.
Or hide your valuables in a Campbell’s soup can and let the safe be a really crappy decoy.
Everyone wants to be as professional in their fields as this LPL is in his.
Technically, he's a lawyer first.
@@aliabdallah102 *was
imagine how good he is at law
If so he'd be calling the lawyering lock picker
2 people i find amazing in their own fields is Jerry Miculek (quick shooter) and Richard Turner (card mechanic). I'm in awe at both of them
this just became my fav channel
You are absolutely amazing!
"Maximum Security" Ok cool *4:53** long* not too bad *doesn't start picking until **2:40* Oh...
I thought exactly the same, that's always so funny when the lock-picking doesn't start until more than Halfway because either the video is really long, or the lock is really bad
That's not fair to this lock. Picking the pins presents enough of a challenge; a lock like this isn't gonna go cheap on the pins. And then there is the magnet pin, PLUS he had to pick out of a false set. This is a hell of a lock and I wish I could find a way to buy one in the US
@@jasong4460 plus he's already familiar with the core. I'm no picker, but I'd guess using a tiny magnet isn't the first thing you try when you fall into a false set and aren't familiar with the type of lock
👍🏻
And he is already done at 3:55
"Ooh, longer LPL video." Half of the video is just cutting tape.
No spoilers! He could start making videos of various length closing music included to extend the video where the length of it is less of a "spoiler" if someone sees those numbers before viewing the clip. perhaps banjo pickin' after the lock pickin' is done.
Once again proving that just duct taping the living s*** out of something is way more effective security than locking it.
@@streetsareforpeople723 This is an *actual* feature on electronic locks and passwords. Random time delay and power consumption on each character so no conclusions can be drawn on whether that character is handled by a different part of the program code.
This is a really good demonstration of the fact that locks are supposed to let people in, not keep people out. In other words, the holder of the key and LPL can get in but not someone without tools, practice and time. Keeping everyone out is easier (tape will do, apparently).
The Wrapping is getting more and more sophisticated each time. The inside is a walk in the park as usual.
"And here we have what looks like duct tape securing the lock, so let me grab the scissors Bosnianbill and I made in video number"
This comment is underrated.
im reading this at 03:08 and laughing my ass my gf thinks im insane watching lockpickinglayer, you know what vilija - you are wrong. this guys is insane
🤣🤣🤣🤣/5 excellent take on an otherwise recycled joke.
Just because it's good looking doesn't mean it's good locking
Come to think of it, he does seem to need a specialized tool for opening all these duct taped locks doubters keep sending him.
LPL: security duct tape and scribbles Master lock: *calls r&d* ok boys, we've got a new gimmick
it was duct tape and security scribbles iirc
@@rioghander2te well, you gotta change sth to avoid copyright issues amirite?
@@rioghander2te you could make security duct tape by making a two layer tape, with VERY non-permanent and VERY copious quantities of scribbling in between the layers... ...if one of 3M's failures was a fastening compound too weak to permanently secure paper to other material (winding up as the secret of Post-It Notes ®), a bleeding Scotch ® duct tape failure otherwise would be a huge security success here.
Truth right here
Have you seen masterlock packaging? Theyre ahead if the curve on this one
It shows how experience and practice makes perfect. If you've never seen a lock like this before and don't have access to the keys there is no way you would be able to pick it. With practise, experience and preparation LPL opens it almost as if it were a standard cheap China lock. Truly impressive work!
I love how much of a flex the length of videos is on this channel
