My belief is had he stayed he would have done for United what he did for Madrid and would have dominated the PL more than La Liga due to there being no Messi to stop him. The players that went to Madrid would have joined United simply because they wanted to play with him there. But he chose Madrid because that's his favourite club, hence why he gave them his best years

I would argue RVP was way out of his prime when he came to United though. That was similar to Jaap Stam or Roy Keane leaving.

One thing I've noticed yesterday in the interview is how broken his English was. For some reason I thought he spoke much better but he could barely put 2 sentances fluently and he struggled a lot with vocabulary. Strange given how many years he did there.
