This video shows the installation of an outdoor socket, outdoor fused spur for decking lighting, terminating steel wire armoured cable - SWA and working with HI-tuff / NYY-j
Watch me carry out this work from start to finish, I don’t cover testing in this video but will in future ones.

Love that little m12 sds! 😍
It’s a decent little drill 👌🏻
Clean work! Lots of very helpful tips on how to get the job done cleanly and neatly. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! 👍
Meticulous and professional as ever! 😍
Thank you! 😊 😘
Great workmanship.
Very nicely done 👍Only thing missing is a night time pic of the lights 🙂
Thanks Brian, much appreciated 👍. Would be nice to see what they look like, I rarely get to see jobs like that after dark though!
@@moss_electrical_and_plumbing You're welcome fella, yeah can be hard to go back after dark, may be customer can take pic for you?
Loving the channel guys, subscribed. 👍
Thank you, much appreciated!
Great work there Mr Moss. 👏
Thank you Mr Wood! 👍😁
Excellent video 👍
Thank you very much! 👍
Pretty decent. But certainly wouldnt put single insulated conductors box to box like that without bushing it...
What would a bush do?
@moss_electrical_and_plumbing u have a gap between boxes therefore Single insulated cable unprotected between boxes. Bush would be like a condit. Although personally, I would ut s coupler between boxes. No way I'd do it like that
There was no gap between the boxes, they are butted up to each other and sealed.
@moss_electrical_and_plumbing well still. Between enclosures... I just wouldn't. Same way I wouldn't do that between two patress boxes. Use double insulated cable, coupler, or Bush.
Good video, nice explanations - the only thing is that there should be 2 locknuts when armouring in a plastic enclosure…
Thanks for taking the time to comment 👍Not heard that before, what’s the reason?
@@moss_electrical_and_plumbing There’s no reason because it’s complete bollocks
@@uplightuk8924 😂 I thought that too....

Hi, I came across this video and its what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I've subscribed to the channel, because it very informative. I understand almost all of it except one aspect, and would appreciate if someone could please help. In the last segment 'Socket' where you put SWA socket to the left of the 2G socket, where does the Earth cable from the SWA gland go? I can see that you take the feed (L & N) and Earth from 2 gang socket on the right. The 3 core SWA cable has its own Earth plus Earth from the Steel Wire. Is the Earth from Gland combined with the Earth (1 of 3 cores) and then connected to the adjacent box? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for leaving a comment, and a big thank you for subscribing! 😁 The Earth from the SWA is terminated with the Earth in the cable in one of the socket terminals 👍
@@moss_electrical_and_plumbing Thanks, got it. So, I just combine (join) the Earth cable (1 of 3 cores) with the Steel Armour. And repeat at the other end. (I hope I understand you correctly. Cheers!
I think what moss is saying is that in the earth from the gland and SWA enter into the socket earth to terminate them. At the CU end both of these earth's will be connected to the earth terminal bar
Enjoyed the video some good tips ! The milwaukee drill you used looks great nice and slim can you tell me model please ?
Hi Mike, glad you liked the video, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. The drill is their 12v SDS, is called the M12CH-0 sub compact SDS 👍

Nice one thanks for the info , look forward to more videos !!!!!!
is the original double socket a spur? if yes, the feed should go to the FCU then fused output connect to the double sockets and new extension, otherwise fused spur on a unfused spur may not be a good idea
The existing socket was a 4mm radial circuit. You are correct though, if it was a spur from say a ring circuit then the method of wiring for the new socket & FCU would be slightly different 👍
sorry if i missed it in the video but how did you make sure no water will run down the middle and into the SFP and your double socket?
Hi Alex, silicone between the 2 of them. I might not have shown it in the video 👍
👌
Thanks Brian 👍
Hammer time ?? 😂😂
I don’t get it, am I being slow? 🤔
