  • Please say: "Finally, a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary!" Also as someone new to fighting games, SF6 is everything I've ever wanted. I don't use the modern controls because I want to learn the classic way of playing fighting games, but it takes A LOT of practice. Things like the frame data meter, the animation cancel display, and the presets for practicing fundamentals like anti-airs, are god sends. I'm used to having to figure these out by getting my ass whooped over and over, going on sites like dustloop or banging my head against the wall until I can finally get the timing right. All of that takes hours, and gets demoralizing after a while because it feels like I have to spend so much time learning the game before I can actually start having fun. Having those features in the game makes learning the game so much more streamlined. The game feels like it was made with so much love and care. Everything from how seamless the menus are, to the hype, roaring music that blasts when you're getting into a match, to the bursts of colour that show up in drive impacts, to the funny faces you can make in the loading screen oozes with passion. There's so many small things the developers could have skipped, for the sake of saving a little extra money and time, that they didn't, and I'm so grateful for it. If there's ever a time for new players like me to get into fighting games, it's right now.

    • So true

      @demiurge2501@demiurge250110 ай бұрын
    • It's very true. I've never liked the idea of needing to spend hours just learning how a game works when it comes to fighting games, so I've routinely stuck to only playing alone and getting frustrated by things there. But then SF6 throws all that out the window by laying out everything you need to know in a very easy to understand manner. No more forcing yourself to "lab" to learn anything without any understanding on if you're doing it right or if that's what you needed to learn, no more seeing what other people are doing and being confused how you're meant to know that, and new accessible control options that make it easier for people to try it and learn at their own pace. Even recently I was confused how to do a mechanic that I kept seeing online, and looked through the in-game guides to learn what it was and how you do it. Any past fighting games I would've never learned what it is and just given up, so I applaud Capcom for that level of foresight to really make this a fighting game everyone can enjoy.

    • With weaker players, it's painfully obvious when they're mashing autocombos and only have a vague idea of what any of their moves do. Complaining about someone like that means you're even worse than they are. Simple as that. But at higher levels of play (I'm scraping the bottom edge of Platinum, making me lower-mid range by sweatlord standards) Modern stops being a newbie thing and becomes a set of legitimate advantages and tradeoffs. If it were up to me, I would have designed the whole game around Modern being the correct way to play.
