The mere fact that Raul Julia did this movie for his kids and also giving it his all before his death goes to prove just what a great man he was
I’d say ‘not all heroes wear capes’ except he did wear (an entirely marvellous) one in the movie.
RIP, he was not only a great actor but a great father. 💔
freaking loved that man.
You give him praise but for him, it was just Tuesday.
Well said. Raul Julia wasnt just a good actor, he was a good man too.
Rip Raul Julia, this was his last film before his passing. He said in an interview that he only did it because he knew his children loved the video game and he wanted to leave something behind for them to remember him by...What a legend.
Always seemed to be having fun. If you've never seen it, I recommend Moon Over Parador with him and Richard Dreyfus.
Funny Orson Welles said almost the same thing about being in the 1980's Transformers movie
Not all heroes wear capes, but this one does.
They weren't dying, but a couple of other similar cases - Gary Oldman did The Fifth Element so he'd be in a movie his kids could watch. Fred Astaire did an episode of the original BSG because his grandkids said that show was their standard of being famous.
Yeah he’s a legend. Thank u Raul.
"But for me, it was Tuesday" is an all-time top 10 greatest movie villain line.
I use variations of this line anytime I can fit it in.
OF COURSE.
I was an 'extra' in Street Fighter. It wasn't hard to tell during filming that it was terrible. Having said that; the majority of the cast were extremely friendly.
Woah. What scene are you in?
Did you get to meet Raúl Juliá? What was he like?
@@she-hulkSMASHES No I didn't unfortunately. However; it was clear that his presence and acting was larger than life. He was amazing when he did he his scenes in the Bison HQ.
@@nandano.1656 Hi Nanda. I was both a Bison soldier (in the Bison HQ) and then an Allied Soldier during the temple explosion and escorting Bison troops out. But I also played one of the henchmen wearing a suit in the tent scene. There is a youtube clip called 'Quick, change the channel', and at the point where one of the actors (I can't remember the characters or actors names now), says; "are you with me or against me?" at that point, I'm the guy standing directly to the right of the Vega character. White collar pointing a gun with a mean look on my face. That ladies and gentlemen; is my claim to fame :)
for the record; I was doing my best Arnie expression from the Terminator.
Raul Julia knew he was dying before he signed on for this film and really made it for his kids.
Bro 😢
that's beautiful. I would've preferred Addam's Family 3 tbh
Because he's the best
@@karmabum21 not up to him unfortunately
Legend
"For me, it was Tuesday." is my favourite line in cinema history. Raul Julia, you absolute legend.
Reminds me of Thanos’ line from Endgame
that's a true actor for you. bringing his A-game even knowing the film sucked.
@@AndyKusanagi86 Yep, he was going to tell them no way, but then his kids found out and begged him to do it, so he did the movie for his kids. :)
It's a travesty that such a storied career culminated in this
@@ragabashmoon1551 that's an awesome tid bit, I didn't know that 👍🏿
My head cannon is that M. Bison in this movie wasn't the real M. Bison. It was Gomez Adams practicing his Cosplay on vacation and accidently starting a criminal organisation
ok, that comment is genius
Okay, I have not adopted your head canon. That's fantastic.
Raul Julia was such an absolutely amazing actor and an even better person.
"For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday." The greatest villain line in history.
That line is the most gangsta villain line of all time
Wasn't this line said in the last Avenger movies during Thanos and Gamora's backstory?
I'm so glad they mentioned it in this video. It was an unironically genius line in an ironically funny movie.
This line is a Trope now ...
@@JAB-numbers-letters and it is even better when she says that it was a Wednesday.
"For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday." Still one of the greatest burns in cinematic history.
It's not even a burn. It's just his over-the-top way of saying that he's killed so many people he couldn't possibly remember attacking her village.
so freaking true
@@cheezemonkeyeater Yeah, but the delivery of the line just makes it awesome!!
@@superomegaprimemk2 Yeah, obviously.
More than that, a worse actor would have said, "I'm sorry, I don't remember," dripping with contempt. Raul Julia had a look on his face like he genuinely didn't remember, making an already surprisingly good monologue into a masterpiece.
I haven't watched this movie yet, but Ming-na Wen and Kylie Minogue playing main characters in the same movie just make this whole thing worth watching. xD
Yes
Honestly, I recommend this solely for Raul Julia. You have never scene a scenery so devoured by an actor until you see M Bison. He is the bar by which all over the top performances are measured.
Trust me, it isn't
If you not watched it and are considering seeing the latest marvel movie, I pick this film, it's a classic and well worth your time any day of the week, especially on Tuesday 😁
Street Fighter is a master piece. It contains one of the most under appreciated monologues from a villain, "....for me it was Tuesday."
His dream for Bisonopolis and supersoldiers speech was great also.
@@protoroc yeah but the Tuesday line is far more iconic!!
That "It was Tuesday" line is still one of the greatest burns in history
Agreed, and proud to be your 69th like.
But was it a taco tuesday?
But how did he remember it was Tuesday though? 🤔
@Scotty7617 Speaking of Princess Bride it took Count Rugen a min to remember who Inigo Montoya was.
@Scotty7617 Not that epic. Conan was younger too.
This felt more like a GI Joe movie than the actual GI Joe movies.
Funny thing is, the first SF toys were released under G Joe
I enjoyed the GI Joe movies especially the first one. Those plus this movie and Mortal Kombat, too? Good grief, what on earth is wrong with me! Now I’m trying to recall if I liked the Double Dragon movie... GAH.
Yes, this movie was like I used to play with my action figures, non sense story and me just hitting the figures together hahahahaha
@@TheRoadrunnerFromHell YES. And I still have them! :) Honda was by far the best one.
@@TheRoadrunnerFromHell LOL, I remember that.
"Are we the baddies?" Can't believe you put a Mitchell and Webb reference in. We have skulls on our caps! Love that show.
I know, such a deep cut, so appreciated.
Zangief says it in the movie
0:34 I love how Honest Voice Guy is laughing while saying the name of the film. XD
I appreciate that the day Honest Trailers graced us with a Street Fighter video was a Tuesday.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
lmao, I didn't even think of that!
I see what you did there!
I didn´t noticed that! Good job, man!
I mean I understand the reference but honest trailers always releases on Tuesdays so it was bound to happen
For you, the day Screen Junkies released an Honest Trailer for Street Fighter: The Movie was the most important day of your life. But for them, it was Tuesday.
Did they release this trailer on Tuesday just so Bison's line would match? O_o
@@wesleyoldham-cartoonsandtv1962 They always release on Tuesday so probably not
I had a dream about this movie las night, having not thought of these things in years.

How could YOU NOT end the trailer with "Somebody change the channel!" ?!? Best line in the movie, and best summary of the movie.
(I mean, I still love it... But opportunity missed!)
Sonic Boom
HADOUKEN
@@krishnavivek5502 A TAK TAKT THAJTHJGH *cough*
YOGA FLAME!
I'm surprised they didn't use the greatest line from this movie: "Quick, change the channel!"
Truly a hilarious line.
Agreed. That and the look they all give him.
Zangeif vs Honda in the godzilla fight🤣 This movie may have sh🤬t all over street fighter but it is still a great laugh
That was the beat part of the movie!😂
I was about to type the same thing 😂 not only best line of the movie, one of the best of the 90s
It's scientifically proven that Ming-Na Wen has discovered the fountain of youth.
beautiful Asian women usually do age gracefully. i think if her costume were actually game-accurate, she'd look much better than she did in this film.
Yellow don’t mellow!
She is a goddess
She’s 57 now and still a badass babe.
Everytime i see her on Instagram i cannot believe her age. Lol. She'll look the same at 70. Well jealous. haha
Van Damme cheated on his wife with Kylie Minogue during filming stating "I knew Thailand very well, so I showed her my Thailand. She's a great lady".
Ahahaha I didnt know that..what a legend 🤣🤣
0:58 HOLD UP, Van Dam himself is a legitimate martial artist. he was a European Karate Championship with his team. carries a 20-2 record in Karate, 18-1-0 record in Muay Thai, and he is a black belt in the art of Shotokan Karate.
This script is a better comedy than most actual comedies, and it was written over the course of a weekend.
I wouldn't go that far. Lol
It shows. They must have had some of JC Van Dammes coke
It shows. lol
It really was, and I think it was actually written over the course of a flight to Sydney.
well most of it was improvised so there you go :)
It’s so weird that Van Damme did Street Fighter, when the role of Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat was basically made for him. He missed.
yea johnny is literally him 🤷♂️
@@Vanlifecrisis And not even sarcastically, Mortal Kombat's working title was Kumite and it was based off of Bloodsport. Even his name ***J***ohnny ***C***age is ***J***ean ***C***laude
Also I'm surprised it took them 25,000 years to make fun of Street Fighter the Movie on this channel
@@Vanlifecrisis Seriously! Johnny even does a split in the first movie!
It's all about the coke money.
Honest trailer should do one about “all Steven seagal movies”.
Yes, please!!
They should do one on Axel Dobbins short-films. That dude is arguably the Best Actor on KZhead
he breaks bad guys' arms! he always has the same hairdo! he doesn't. EVER. GET HIT. he is... Steven Seagal!
"All Steven Seagal movies except for 'Executive Decision'."
They could do only the good ones. That would keep the video at a resonable length. Problem is; I'm not sure there are any.
Imagine of Jean Claude actually had Guiles real haircut tho 😂 That would have been insane.
A so bad it's good film. Street Fighter does have a great quote uttered by the late great Raul Julia. "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday."
Still one of my favorite movies hahaha
So bad it's good, my favourite genre of movie
One of my top guilty pleasures.
"OF COURSE " - M Bison
I recommend this movie solely for Raul Julia. You have never scene a scenery so devoured by an actor until you see M Bison. He is the bar by which all over the top performances are measured. Even Nick Cage would bow to this.
This movie is great, it doesn’t take itself to seriously and you can tell the actors had fun. That is a win in my book.
I always remember one review of this movie saying something like “Raul Julia, an actor far too skilled for the demands of the evil dictator, but an actor far too professional to give anything other than his best” Says everything about the man.
I just love how Raul Julia gives the 200% on his performance despite his health. Such a legend.
This movie has surprisingly high-brow humor. When my husband and I saw it in the theater, we were pretty much the only ones laughing throughout the movie!
I mean Jean Claude is a proper martial artist....
But he was also coked to the gills.
@@boxtank5288 Wonderful and true American though.
And he can do the spits no problem. OK USA 🇺🇸
Great martial artist, but I was today years old when I figured out what the last line he said to Ken & Ryu was in American English. He says: "Did you ever think about enlisting?" I always sounded like he mumbled that last word by saying "mystic," "mustang," or "you must stink" to me.
Tbh there were a lot of martial artists on set, but none of them really got any screen time due to the script/cinematography/budget constraints. Legend says that JCVD's next movie, "The Quest", was him trying to prove that there could be real fighting scenes in a movie that weren't just about him. 🤷♂️ JCVD doing steroids certainly didn't help for comparisons in the SF II movie either.
"coke, lots and lots of coke" is the explanation to many bad movies.
Maximum Overdrive being one, a MAJOR one
And many good movies.
Hell it explains WHOLE decades 😆
...and American cars in the 90s.
@@franknbeanz147 I thought it was pretty good, then again I was into the coke pretty heavy.
Nobody ever gives enough credit to how amazing Zangief is in this movie.
i wish there was more of him, he was my 2nd fav character next to Bison of course (lol pun was not intended at the end there)
Zangief was the most accurate compared to the characters, plus he stole the movie. "Quick, change the channel!"
the "quick, change the channel" is definitely one of, if not best line in the movie. second only to "but for me it was tuesday"
I like the character too. 😄
The entire cast was well chosen, they were just not used properly
I still get a kick out of Zangief yelling "Quick! Change the channel!" Also, Raul Julia RIP...he was one of the all time greats.
Say in your epic voice: "In a single day and night of misfortune, the island of Atlantis disappeared into the depths of the sea."
We all know this movie is a classic. Don't deny it. Rest in Peace Raul Julia. The movie is worth watching just for him.
OF COURSE!
It is!
It’s a good movie
The impressive part of it is Raul Julia was literally on his death bed
Rest in peace, Raul. You were the absolute best.
"Keep your own god! In fact, this might be a good time to pray to him." Raul Julia had some pretty good lines and delivery in this movie.
"For you the day Bison graced your village, it was the most important day of you life. But for me, it was Tuesday" is hands down one of the best villain lines ever
"..and never come close, not once. This guy walks through the raindrops." - Every line, a poem.

Most people walk through the raindrops but the ninja walks between them.
Back then, I liked the movie a lot, there's no honest trailer that can spoil the 90s
God I love this movie. My favourite 'bad' movie ever. Raul was so good in this he literally carried the whole film.
It really is a great 90s comedy.

This movie is just campy fun and I can’t hate on it. Trivia: The “Good Morning Shadaloo” voice is played by the man that Robin Williams character in “Good Morning Vietnam” is based on

The only good thing about this movie was Raul Julia, especially because he was going to decline the movie, but his kids begged him to take it... and so he did and because he was doing it for his kids, that made his performance the only good thing about the movie. :P
Of course!
If Axel Dobbins was in this movie, he would give such an amazing performance that movie would be more famous. But the sad truth is, Hollywood HATES Axel because he makes short-films on youtube for free
@@priyankabhushan5744 So this is your sock puppet, Axel? Kind of weird you chose this movie of all things. Considering this movie came out 11 years before the first video was uploaded to KZhead and before any video content creators were on the internet.

Say: "Something wrong colonel? Came expecting to fight a madman but instead you found a GOD?"
A lot has been said about Raul Julias performance but another gem in this movie is Guile’s speech to the troops. It is a nice ballad to soldiers and their duty without being jingoistic. There’s an odd poignance in Van Damme’s delivery: “we could save the world, or we could go home.”
