Fun fact he nearly broke his hand during the acting of this scene but then again it's a Model 1807 lever action being fired with one hand

@whisperingrisk.. You're a little off on your year there. Lever action tech wasn't invented/developed til post civil war. The shotgun used here is likely a winchester 1886-87
@@ryanellis5902 it is indeed a winchester and the lever is modified specifically so Arnold could spin it with one hand. Had it been the original, it would've actually broke his hand spinning it with one hand.

This was the peak of the franchise. This scene alone will be hard to top. The cinematography, the score, the stunt work, the special effects and the shot gun flip. This has it all. Totally sets the stage for the vibe of the whole movie.
And above all it gives the viewer a feeling of absolute terror

Apparently Arnold tore off the skin and injured his hand quite badly perfecting the shot gun flip for us. Thank you Arnie, it wouldn’t be the same with out the flip.👍🏻
No one gives Brad Fiedel enough credit for creating an absolutley heart pounding score to go with this chase scene. The cinematrograohy is eyeball candy, while the music composition is adrenaline for the ears.
Had no clue Brad Fiedel did this. Pretty sure he worked on some of the music for the original Fright Night.
It's trying to sound horror but the movie isn't that

It is maybe one of the top action movies of all time, and barely any CGI except t 1000. This is panned by critics as a masterpiece, James Cameron knows what he is doing. The Bar scene too, they hold up because they are written live shots
I think the moment when the T-1000 walks out from the flames is one of the most iconic moments in the entire genre. I get chills every time!
Considering that the T800 from the first film was damaged by the truck explosion, but T1000 literally walked it off is a nice way to send the message that this Terminator is even more durable and persistent than the last
@korawitbuttramee618 not just damaged but his flesh covering if not already too severely damaged to pass off human was now gone, HE HAD TO NOW DESTROY HIS TARGET blending in was now no longer an option. The T 1000 can still remain stealthy which he ends up being most of the movie.
@@korawitbuttramee618It only lost its flesh covering. The damage it sustained was from being thrown off its bike chasing Sarah & Kyle and then being run over by the same truck it would later hijack.
That moment when the T-1000 walks out from the flames in cibernetic shape was part of the history.....but made George Lucas took the decision of filming these horribles precuels.

I felt like I had been physically assaulted by the intensity of the movie. The guy sitting behind me just succinctly vocalized exactly what I was feeling. "That was intense." Up to then you would see people get up and leave as soon as a movie ended but here it seemed people were frozen in their seats, still processing what they had just seen or trying to recover from the experience. exactly. it's a crazy sci-fi action movie that is still grounded to reality, as weird as that sounds. it's like the first jurassic park that came out a few years later. both of those movies are crazy, sci-fi movies but the action sequences seem real, so you can put yourself in that situation, which is what makes it fun and terrifying at the same time. When the movie is this crazy unrealistic action extravaganza, it's fun to see a movie like that for the first times ever, but now all movies are like that and it's boring quickly.
That’s one reason I hate todays super hero movies. It’s like they lack anything in the way of a good story so they just throw in a bunch of overblown CGI action.

the reason why this scene feels better than most high budget action nowadays is because everything in this scene is real . nothing is more scary and interesting than what happens in real life .

It's the most successful chase in the history of cinema, because they didn't rely on special effects but on the effect of speed, pressure and anxiety while maintaining a dynamic that hasn't been seen since! I discovered this film in the 90s, I was a child! What good memories!

There can't be anything better than watching Arnold on that chopper and flipping the shotgun, the perfect robotic face cut, the action, choreography and especially that drop of chopper from almost 10' height is enough for all the Harley lovers...
Best Terminator ever made
The three bits I love the most from this scene 1. The fact the Harley survived that drop off the ledge, that shows that was a high quality bike he was riding. 2. @@aftonsky Lol, I'm never goingt to unsee that now, haha.
The bike was suspended on a zip line like mechanism using airplane wire, so when it hit the ground the bike bounced like it only weighed about 90 pounds, the spark effect was added to show how heavy the terminator was, giving some mass to the being riding it
A 90s Harley Fatboy never would have survived that drop in one piece. I own one, it's got a heavy engine, a low profile and no suspension to speak of - a jump from that height would break it in half instantly. I believe in the movie they put it on a steel cable so it actually fell gently enough to LOOK like a hard impact.
I will never ever get tired of that shotgun reload, it's so satisfying
Shotgun reload ASMR
and when u know he broke fingers when he trained for it ..... even more satisfying ... not that he got hurt but the dedication
Arnie actually used to get the skin between his thumb and forefinger caught during the reload. Not only was it painful but he also smacked Eddie a few times doing it, nearly knocking him out.....didn't do it hard enough if you ask me!
Ohhhh yesss
As well as nearly breaking Arnold's hand, the 1887 went out of production, so they had to find one closest to an 1887
Every moment of this movie is a masterpicee. Rotating that shotgun is so badass.

Such a beautiful wonderful awesome scene 🤩❤
This scene brings me back to when Frank and I snuck into our first "R" rated movie. They were checking ages and yet we got to watch it. It was crazy back then to see the technology and role reversal that Arnold did. The first instalment was nuts and obviously special in its own way, but this movie introduced me to the modern action film like none other.
This movie has some of the best chases in movie history. I loved this film then and love it even more now. T1000 traumatized me when I was a child. James Cameron you're the man!!!
Fe
Do
Terminator 2, Lethal Weapon 4, The Rock and Matrix 2 had the best chase scenes. Matrix 2 came out 20 years ago and still nothing I remember has top it's chase scene.
Its kinda boring in hindsight but chase scenes need to be grounded to be good. Too much destruction/ stunts/ explosions makes it not believable
That was epic boss status right there the way Arnold was reloading his shotgun.
He had to practice that for hours I saw in a video where he talked about that..how he had to make it look robotic
@ he injured himself when he was using the shotgun without the huge loop, a standard Winchester model 1887 not modified to perform the cool reload.
Still insane to see
I I do that everyday
Arnold is an icon of masculinity, and the shotgun reloading on the bike really captures the essence of it. Badass, fearless, protector... efficiently eliminating any obstacle in his path.
Holy moly!! This movie aged like fine wine!! I love it♥
Can we all just put the case about "best action movie of all time" to rest now? Because no matter what, nothing can top this movie's visual fidelity, cinematography and breath-taking stunts.
This is what Micheal bay lacks. The action is never this clean. James Cameron is the ultimate blockbuster director.
Michael Bay is the worst. Someone kill this Shakey camera trend please......it's just lazy and bullshit
The sequence from 3:50 to 3:53 is a great example of intelligent action. An explosion that's there for A REASON.
Michael Bay can only dream of making a classic like T2, cos he ain't ever gonna achieve it, I assure you.
@Cric Cat yeah like what James did with alita
@Christopher Marlowe James Cameron is not a hack. He has not directed a movie since 2009. Avatar wasn't bad, though I agree that it was overrated. I'm excited for Avatar 2, not because I'm an Avatar fan, but because it will be directed by the same guy who made Aliens, and Terminator 2. He is THE guy when it comes to nailing sequels.
Bruh I can’t believe they made los santos river into a real place
Mind Blown
This comment is underrated

The music adds so much to the scene this is a problem with today's films
I get goosebumps on how well this is directed
the sound of john connor's bike be like: EEEEEEEEEEEEEUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUEEEEEE
And sometiiiiiimes yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Wasp in tin can
Or it sounds like a 2stroke!
the sound of the fatbob at the end was lame af too
reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
It's crazy how well T2 holds up even in 2021... I love how a film in 1991 looks better than a lot of movies today. That's what happens when CGI oversaturates or entirely replaces live action in modern day action sequences.
Yup cgi seems to be the first option instead of the last.
Was thinking the same thing. The cgi in this scene still holds up.
@@cycoholic that's not the same thing at all lol he's referring to the practical effects
most? there isnt even one move that comes close to story or action in t2
@@lenol0315 Of course the story is awesome. I was talking about the live action special effects. They hold up well even today, and a lot better than in Terminator 1
One of the greatest action sequence ever. Had everything - suspense, drama, chase, the right score and timing. Just everything! Out does anything today!
That shotgun reload trick was so satisfying to watch as a child
Still is
Thats not a shotgun thats a henry rifle stupid havent you played red dead 2?
Johnny who. The fuck. Do you think you’re talking to?
Johnny it is a shotgun my man😂
As a child... bruh its satifisfying every damn time you watch it... be it when you're 10 or 30
30 years old now and it's still one of the best chase scenes ever!
Aliens comes in close!
Any other chase scenes you recommend me?
@@SagittariusUDY The swat truck chase scene from The Dark Knight.
Yea James Cameron makes awesome sequels Can't wait for titanic 2
Now it's 31 years old
I don't think Hollywood will ever put out any more masterpieces like this anymore.
The way Arnold uses that lever action by flipping it every shot is so badass
It had to be customized to be spin-cocked like that. Otherwise, it could have been flip-cocked the way Bruce Campbell does at the end of 'Army of Darkness' (theatrical version).
@ELI BAILEY Only because he grabbed the wrong one. The one that was specifically customized for spin-cocking had the trigger guard cut off. How one overlooks a detail like that is quite beyond my capacity.
@@judsongaiden9878 Heard he almost shot his foot during practice after grabbing the wrong one.

The music in this scene gets me everytime. It's almost Jaws like, but much more frantic and metallic, whereas Jaws was much more methodical build up. I love how it fades out when John thinks he might have escaped, before the truck launches off the bridge and when the top goes flying. Then immediately cuts back in when we see the T1000 come back
kzhead.info/sun/Z6uTnLikkJaGpGw/bejne.html
Also worth noting is the difference in the engine sounds. John's bike sounds fast but fragile, the truck sounds deep and menacing, and Arnold's bike sounds strong and safe. Truly the mark of a director who left no detail untouched.
Also, the main motif kicks in (somewhat subtlety) after Arnold successfully rescues John.
@@09daniscool I read this as it happened fuck yes
Jaws was more foreboding
Terminator 2 , matrix 1 , spiderman 3 movies which i think was trend setters in hollywood
A mixture of practical effects and special effects is how it should be done. That’s why movies like Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy continue to age so fucking well!
This 5 min sequence has more testosterone than most action movies today
better than all of marvel
@@danbh84 lol nah. Both are good.
Terminator 2 remains THE best action movie ever. Period.
Odd, since the only characters are 2 asexual robots and a prepubescent boy :\

But I heard that he suffered a fractured index finger while shooting a gun with one hand and loading it.
@@buddistjejus5825 he almost broke all his fingers, he picked up the wrong shotgun on the set, one that hadn't been modified.
I cannot believe this movie is 30 years old, now! It still visually looks PHENOMENAL
