    • I think the audience was really lazy that year. No one got a standing ovation. Maybe it had something to do with the writers strike; everything was austere and toned down. And ever since this ceremony, everyone seems to get a standing ovation: Octavia Spencer, Mo'nique, Jennifer Lawrence, Sandra Bullock..

      @AcademyAwardsPerson@AcademyAwardsPerson10 жыл бұрын
    • He doesn't need a standing ovation, everyone who has seen his movies will all agree that hes the best actor of all time, bar none. I can't even describe it, when I saw what he actually looked like after watching Gangs of New York I was confused and thought there was another Daniel Day Lewis, hes just that good. Nominees for an Oscar would be lucky if he doesn't make a movie in that year.

  • DDL is one of the most prominent actors ever seen. After having seen Gangs Of New York, In The Name Of The Father and There Will Be Blood, which was bone-shattering to the core, I can say that the guy is haunting either in real life and in his portrayal of his characters he seems to merge with. All of the people who learned him how to act are the ones to praise. This man is a true gift for arts. If I see him one day, I would say "Thank you, M.Day Lewis, for defining what cinema is about: make us feel and make the characters real. Thank you so much for giving mesmerizing performances. Hope we'll see you in MORE movies!" Too bad he hasn't done much since Lincoln.

  • Man...I remember watching this live that night and rooting for Johnny Depp, because I was (and still am) an avid fan and just KNEW he was going to win for Sweeney Todd. I knew he would. But this man, whom I honestly didn't know much about until that night, swept in and got it for There Will Be Blood. I was so pissed. But then something about that baptism scene they showed stuck with me and I had to watch the film...and I could not stop talking like Daniel Plainview for like a year after. My momma was sicka me screaming "I'VE ABANDONED MY CHILD!!!" all the time 🤣🤣 Oh my goodness, I *immediately* withdrew all hate and fell in love with his phenomenal acting!! Love Johnny, but Daniel Day-Lewis did his thing in There Will Be Blood and I am heartbroken that he has retired 💕
