    • I feel the same way about how well he brought Tommy Shelby to life in Peaky Blinders. He didn’t just play Tommy, he was Tommy. No one else would ever have been better at that role. He has such an amazing way to almost effortlessly morph into his characters. Truly a natural at acting.

Although his affect is common among very introverted people, I would argue that his type of introversion is rather rare, but perhaps not as rare among the great people we often celebrate. • Unfortunately a lot of times these awards are handed out to actors who are “due”, not because of their performance. That didn’t happen here. This was Cillian’s first Oscar nomination, the first time he’d ever been up for a big award - he didn’t just win it, he got a standing ovation from all his peers as he went up to collect it. Tells you all you need to know about the performance he put in. Definitely one for the ages.

    • It’s funny, for me, the first thing I ever saw him in was “Fear the Walking Dead,” which has had such up-and-down writing and overall inconsistent quality throughout its run, but it always felt like “that dude,” whose name I admittedly didn’t even know for many seasons, seemed like he was on a different level than everybody else. Like how an elite high school athlete just looks like they’re playing a different game than everybody else, he stole basically every scene he was in, even when often given some pretty mediocre lines to deliver. It’s awesome to see him having come so far to now being introduced by Forest Whitaker and recognized alongside so many legends of the profession.
