I never knew that rail roads are THAT flexible
my exact thought too!
Me too
They look like wet noodles
I think at a certain length all metal flexes a little similar. But man, that metal is stupid heavy.
Rails are strong in compression, the vertical load the wheels place on the rail. They don't need to be particularly strong in the lateral direction, as the rails don't sustain much side load and are pinned in place.

Superb footage ! 👍🏼
I learn something new every day. I never even came close to thinking of something like this. Great video.
(4:40) - The way those rails flex, it looks like rubber instead of steel. Cool video by the way.
@zzz43452 Nooooo!!! My disappointment is immeasurable and my dreams are ruined!!!
6:55 i just love how that half a ton steel rail moves like a noodle
More like almost 2 ton. If it's 136RE rail, then it's 136 lbs per 3 feet. At 79 ft max length that's around 3,581 lbs. And yes, it's wild how much it flexes.

Great video. I’ve never seen that before! That is one of those many thankless jobs, I want to say thank you to all those workers! At the end when they were drilling wholes it seems that will be more efficient if those whole were already drilled from factory, that will only make sense.
Great video!! Love the teamwork!! It's not easy to work under the hot sun and in inclement weather.
metal+carbon... heavy duty, extremely strong. thanks for sharing the video

It looks like a team of 10 people can manage atleast 5 kms of track per day with this working. So if there are, say 25 teams, then 125 ons of track work done in one day. At that rate within 10 - 15 days they can lay track across India from North to south. Good work. Keep it up guys
The railway looks softer than I've expected
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
I love the sound of the rails making that slithery sound when something hits it.
Almost sounds like a Star Wars laser weapon sometimes doesn't it?

Fascinating. That seemingly very rigid rail actually acts more like a wet noodle when not secured.
The rails are made in a Play Doh fun factory 👍
Weird to see how flexible train rails really are.

DuEHobbyfilmer yeah they should’ve taken off the rails by hand.

INTERESTING WORK DID NOT KNOW IT WAS SO , GREAT JOB .👏👏👍
Thats a super heavy duty rail system. All thoes tiedowns and concreat rail ties. I get it cause the rails are so flexable. Winters must reak havoc on the rails. Never seen so many tiedowns on a rail.

It's strange to see such a thing. I doubt it is iron.
Seriously in india raw materials are very hard....

This is really interesting and very nicely filmed. I especially like the lack of music - just the sounds of hard work and the spooky clattering of the steel. How much does each section of rail weigh? Hey - railway - it's a joke, OK! :-)

I didn't know steel rails are very flexible, machine just grabs rails like it was spaghetti.
we ourselves in Russia do not know which rails are soft ....
extremely lazy. that steel track can be aligned by lifting by hand much easier and faster.

NightBot thats back breaking work. I bet you could do that for a few minutes but doing that so repetitively for hours and miles would cause major health issues. The rails look soft but they are the hardest steel you can get, very heavy and long
NightBot lol thread a string of rail in by hand
When i first started welding the guy teaching me said "it's just steel" when i had to bend a piece and didn't think it could be done. It didn't take long to realize how flexible, and how easy it is to shape it.
Yeah I always thought it was brittle and would snap before bending before i started working at a steel distribution warehouse.
Lance Heckel the only thing I could bend was stainless steel. I tried to roll some in our Tolls device. It blew the end cylinder off the rolls from the pressure of the steel. Then someone decided to try and break/bend 1/4 stainless in our break at work. Broke the die instead. Boss was not a happy camper that day.
