Watch this very angry and irritated Rhino Bull trying to attack annoying tourist vehicles to protect his Cow and Calf.
This old bull surely had a previous encounter with poachers or some other human contact.

Stand your ground and scream loudly to scare them. They almost never actually attack anyway they usually use it as a scare tactic. You seem to be the one that is clueless lol

  • Rhinos often carry out mock charges, actually warning charges. Best thing to do is reverse out and take another route or park(further away than those vehicles were) and wait until they either move off or become obviously settled. Any reaction from an animal is undesirable, you want them to behave normally as if you were not there. When approaching animals, stop at the latest once they react, preferably as soon as you have a good view anyway before they need to react. Don't annoy the animals as it stresses them, may divert them from a trip to water or shelter and make them avoid vehicles in future. One local driver I was with got too close to a leopard prompting her to leave the tree and move off. He was distraught; 'I've ruined the next twenty sightings' he said, as the leopard would now avoid the sound of vehicles for weeks to come. Don't push your luck, stop as soon as you have a decent view and do not move unless the animal is clearly relaxed. Don't jump queues and if you think there's already enough cars close to a sighting either hang back until some leave or move on and leave them to it.

    • The problem is, that's not their road. The people who made the road have just as much right to use it as the animals. A huge bean-bag gun will coax them away from the designated "this is where humans cross" road. Projectiles are a very good, no-injury way to coerce stubborn other beings to beat it. You can't let other animals push you around. "We built the freaking road. It's not like you don't have a huge area of flatland here all to yourself. Stay off our road. It's the only, very small part of the flat land that we use. You have 99.99% to roam free. Now shove off." .

      @Greg_Chase@Greg_Chase2 жыл бұрын
    • @@Greg_Chase You have an intelligence problem. They are A N I M A L S, they don't understand the concept of "shared road". They've been living there before humans, and in their mind they are just protecting their territory.

      @DavidColex@DavidColex2 жыл бұрын
    • @@DavidColex Rhinos have large brains - it's a mistake to think they cannot learn. For example, when a rhino is young, they often (mistakenly) underestimate how adults will respond to being 'charged' and they learn not to do that. Key word 'learn' All mammals are capable of learning. Mammals are the most successful form of life on the planet - humans being at the pinnacle of all mammals. It is a mistake to think any mammal is "incapable of learning" Their behavior can be modified using the traditional methods of negative reinforcement, positive reinforcement, or a combination of the two. There is no claim that any mammal has on a road, built by humans, for humans, for the purpose of minimally invasive egress in the huge expanse of land where the animals live. I'm not sure if you are aware of it, but lethal force can be, and has been, used against animals in those situations if they threaten humans. Most tour guides are well able to protect the passengers, using lethal force. Instead of that, a training regime of bean bag projectiles means the rhinos would learn "these humans are just like the grown ups when I was a baby rhino - they do not like to be charged" and would stay away from the road. NEVER underestimate the ability of ANY mammal to learn, to adapt. Mammals rule this planet precisely because we are better at adapting than any other species, and humans are the very best at it.

      @Greg_Chase@Greg_Chase2 жыл бұрын
    • @Ugh Bean-bag gun. Harmless. Most people are unaware, and are surprised by this fact, because they think "it's a big animal, its skin must be very thick" A Rhino's skin is very sensitive. It would only take a couple of bean bags and the road - the 0.000000001% of the land that allows humans to move - would be clear. For insurance purposes, it is much better for the ferrying of passengers in vehicles if the rhinos are conditioned to get the heck away from the road when a human is on it. Bean-bag guns are cheap, accessible, and extremely effective on rhinos because of their skin. Once an animal is trained with 'adverse conditioning' - it is pretty much cemented in their brain. For the sake of the humans, it's much safer to train the rhinos to stay back when humans are on their road. It's a small price since the animals roam freely on 99.999999999% of the lands.
