Group of mountain bikers at SA Champs nearly gored by bull elephant while out on safari at Kruger National Park!

While up in Nelspruit for the Enduro SA Champs we took a time out to go on safari at the Kruger Park.
Seriously an amazing visit, we saw all of the big five, and then had this epic experience.
The GoPro effect here is real, I could have reached out and touched the elephant at some points in the video.

0:04... it was the noise of the engine starting up that triggered him... you can see his leg freeze for a moment.
How many idiots like this, that elephant had to face today . More respect we need for elephants 🐘

That was not a charge. That was a warning. Driving away so fast is teaching the Elephant bad habits. His going to keep on doing it now
Well, if you're concerned about him learning bad habits, maybe the staff will let you get drive a vehicle and stare him down.
Lol are you autistic? Bull elephants break rhinos in half and pull lions apart to hang their guts in trees. That animal is not a dog. You do not need to discourage or encourage any behavior in it you need to stay the f@ck out of its way.

Well, sometimes NOT driving away fast can be fatal, too. Recent report out of an elephant chasing some wildlife park vehicle and flipping it. One elderly woman lost her life. Another Recent bull elephant attack has the elephant lifting and dropping the vehicle 3 times. Google it, you'll probably see both videos.
Starting of the vehicle ticked him off I think!

I'm not big on selfies as is, but in that circumstance, even if I'm just a passenger in a vehicle, I'm keeping my eyes on the elephant.

@@findingflow Fair enough. I gotta admit though,, even for all the fact he could probably have done some serious damage (I was worried for a split second that he was in musth while watching), that is a fine-looking bull. I'm glad you got to see him and capture him on film.

He really is. They are such majestic animals. It was such an amazing visit to the Kruger National park, we got to see “everything” including a leopard in a tree with an Impala.

We were also charged by an elephant last year on safari……He was about a year old and face planted when we laughed at him! Scary times….🤭😉
