Being 51, this broadcast quality is making me feel rather nostalgic, like staying up until the AM to tape Tyson mash it up in Vegas in the 80s.
This should be done on a regular basis. Fluid
How is it my first time watching these two? "Listen" needS to become a weekly to biweekly thing. The chemistry is tremendous. Two of the best in their field, both their MMA careers as athletes, and ref, respectively (and mutually, since Goddard is a former fighter), and as all around MMA personalities/analysts. More of this.
Pointless rant
This is episode 11. Episode 10 was released a year ago. That's why.
You’ll be lucky
I love these 2 guys together!
Mates, I loved the backs & forwards between you guys, disagreeing in best possible way, that's what I call an adult conversation. thank you ever so much. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
facts
One of the most enjoyable conversations I've listened to in a long time, please bring this show back on a more regular basis guys, please!
appreciate the feedback! and yes we shouldn't leave it so long between episodes. we will try to do better. god bless the comments section, as always! 🙂
LISTEN!! love to see Goddard back on fullreptile.
One of my fav duos in all of combat sports. shame these 2 dont do this as much
Can't take Marc Goddard anywhere.😂 I really enjoyed listening to Marc's perspective, and the dynamic between a referee and a fighter. You 2 should make this a thing.
So glad you are doing a show with Goddard again. I missed him being a cranky old git 😂🤣
I've been waiting for this!! I fkn love the LISTEN! series! Great job guys! give us another when you can. big love
Yes! About time! It has been years since the last one.

This is my favorite when marck Gotterd and Dan hardy get together and talk
this was amazing to listen to, great duo.
Great conversation fellas. Thoroughly enjoyed this. I miss seeing Dan's 'knowing' smirk
You to together bring the best insight Need more of these Peace guys
Second time watching this love these two together very interesting love learning from Marc Goddard hope they do another podcast soon
This was mega. Thank you
Great discussion! Should do this regularly. There is inevitably some controversy surrounding a call following a weekend of fights. Would be great to get those explored by this team. They’re coming from the best perspectives in the sport, inside the cage.
Marc always brings the insights. Great podcast!
Keep em coming Dan & Marc!!!
Love me some Hardy and Goddard! Excellent combo!
AS IF!! Been a while since we’ve had one of these
Fantastic episode! I wish Marc and Dan could have a listen episode with Herb Dean to have a rich discussion not an argument. I really believe that would be probably one of the most watched KZhead videos ever. Dan is such a great analyst and MMA figure. Marc possesses such a great wealth of experience. Huge fan of the Listen's episodes. Greetings from Savannah, GA
Best missed these keep em coming at least one a week
Great to see you two back together again!
Listen is hands down the best podcast in the mma world. We neeeeed more of this
Finally!!!....I've been waiting for another "listen episode" 😁
One of the best and rarest mma podcasts
Best Full Reptile video I've ever seen. Unique insight from Marc Goddard who is an absolutely top-level professional, big thanks to him for agreeing to joining on this episode. I think this conversation shows the UFC in the best light. I was surprised to see how cerebral of a man Marc is.. the level of nuance he puts into his work. I also appreciate that Dan Hardy didn't focus on controversial fights/fight outcomes and instead questioned and defined the fundamentals of judging fights as a referee.
I love the discussion from 20:00 about the coaching during a foul time out. I never thought about it the way that Marc explained it and it makes complete sense to not have a fighter receive information relevant to an opponent while the opponent is in no position to receive the same in return.
I appreciate and applaud 👏 this great show of respect between opposing views on a subject (downed kneed opponent discussion). It's a great example that you don't have to argue or use hateful speech when there is a disagreement. Also my respects to each for being honest when they do find middle grounds and when they still have polarizing views. We gain knowledge and wisdom by listening to others point of view even when we disagree.
just discovered this podcast even though i was a full reptile disciple already… love it!! marc and dan is a brilliant duo
This is great, def should record more ! Super hype for that picks podcast after this drought of fight content !! Lol
Great stuff ! Cheers mates
Just learning of this. Smart move. Great pair.
Goddard and Herzog are both the gold standard of officiating. Cheers
19k views is criminal. Fantastic listen!!

This was great! 😄
Long wait is finally over, keep doing it on a regular base, it`s ever so interesting.
Superb podcast . I can 100% hear both Dan and Marc regarding the illegal shots .
Couldn’t agree more with Dan on the knee too the downed opponent situation
Did u guys just bring this back? I remember watching the first few you did and it seems like a year or two ago?
Mark Goddard " hold on I'm talking brother " lol
I'm one minute in, already thumbs-upped 😂legends
Brilliant 👏🏽
This is top tier content
oh... now I get it Title I mean! OK I'm in, ears committed, let's go on. pozdrav iz Srbije
everytime marc sees a fight go to the judges 'God bless u ur wrong' 🤣🤣🤣
how has no one left a time stamp for the discussion abt fouls
Alex Gustafsson was scheduled to fight not Jan Blachowicz but Gegard Moussasi. Then the bout was cancelled due to a cut in training and Latifi ended up fighting Moussasi. UFC on Fuel TV 9, 4th of June 2013
These two guys are a great combo! Great job guys
The Mohawk is back, baby!
Man this good shirt. Petr Yan v Aljamain Sterling was a example...sucked for Petr
51:00 It was Mousasi vs Latifi when Gustaffson got pulled in Sweden
Enjoy "listen" the most on the channel. Would be awesome to have it more reguarly. Two great minds in the game.
1:15 "You put something in my coffee." With that intro music, I was expecting you to have both put something in your coffees. It sounded like "rain and rum" music. 😎👊 #UFCVegas56
Gotta love Marc such a sound guy and great ref, wouldn't wanna fuck with him either 😅
Make Listen permanent.
nice nice conversation between two nice guys
missed this
take a shot everytime marc says 'youngsters' 😅😅😅
Charles Oliveira got corrective eye surgery… the Justin fight was his first since getting it and supposably had 20/20 vision. Great episode, important to hear from the experts
Loved this Conversation..I feel like Dan isn't considering Human Error when it comes to Fouls on downed opponents..If ur hurt and U drop someone w/ a hook and they fall but try to grab ur hips and U feel them rising, U sprawl, clinch the head and throw a knee but U didn't see Ur Opponents left knee barely on the Canvace..U gotta consider these different circumstances..Goddard is trynna be realistic w/ the Logistics of a Ref..🔥🔥This was Great
Sure, but it’s far cleaner and safer to simply take the “intention” out of it completely… Nuance and interpretation are the kryptonite to safety and simplicity. Dan’s right on this one for me!
I see what you mean but we dont do this for fouls in most other sports. Like its a foul to hit the net in tennis, doesn’t matter what the intention was
nah if fighters know that they;ll be more careful, I bet we stop seeing so many eye pokes....
Is there a better beginning to an MMA podcast than this one, between these two?! 😂🤣
Upload the guru podcast again
You can tell Marc Goddart is an intimidating person, he don't look at you in the eye, he STARES, he doesn't just talk, he MAKES A POINT with every sentence. He isn't arguing, in his head he's only spitting straight up Facts ALL the time
Marc needs to write a book.
yo Goddard and Dan have good chemistry as a duo. Mark was right about Dan when he fought he always had that smirk on his face. With his mo hawk he looked like a lunatic.
So awesome 🙏🇨🇦
BJ penn was definitely one of the ones who Loved it … great podcast lads..💯
On the knee discussion I honestly think the correct ground is inbetween In a intentional or unintentional scenario where the fighter can continue. A point should be deducted no matter the circumstance. In the scenario where a fight can no continue. In the case of a pure malicious knee a disqualification should be given In a case where it cannot have been intentional I.e. knee was thrown when the fighter could not have ascertained the opponent was downed by the time the knee landed. Where the opponent began to drop to a downed position after the knee was thrown. A clear example of unfortunate circumstances but the fight can no longer continue. In the case of a 1st round instance a No Contest should be issued, as we are not able to determine a result with enough fight time. In a round where we can go to the score cards they should have a point automatically deducted. Where they are winning it could become a draw or even loss, if they are losing well its a bigger loss (for the person that used the knee) That is the fairest way where all knees are punished but there is a level of different scenarios. I just feel that in all cases a point should be deducted. If the fight cannot continue the ref should disqualify, unless a certain scenario where a NC can be declared or in a circumstance where score care point deduction is made. In no circumstance is a knee not receiving either response.
Love these podcasts, learn a lot, also interesting to hear from a refs' perspective. Gustafsson fought Blachowicz, he had problem with Jan on the feat but ended up winning the fights by going for the takedown. Remember people critiquing Gustafsson's striking after that fight, Jan has given a lot of good strikers' problem over the years.
Brilliant
I like Goddard's take on those knee's, intentional or unintentional scenario's both exist and just leave it too the Referee to decide
Definitely goods points to both sides of that argument. I would be siding with the rationale Goddard provided but the back and forth there was great to listen to haha!
They both make interesting points. Marc's point is sometimes a fighter may not know the position of their opponent, but I think Dan is correct in saying, if you don't know whether your opponent is downed, you shouldn't throw the strike.
Dan! You’re the one who is the mover and shaker in all your podcasts…..Make this one with Mark more of a regular one please. Very enjoyable.
Why is the quality so low for this video?
I thought it was just with me, was thinking it was my internet connection for a second or something, lol. Good question, looks low quality.
It's the premier function. Once the video is uploaded fully higher quality option will appear. It's a KZhead oddity that's been around in some form since the 2012s
I’m getting tracers when either guy moves their arms!
I think Dan's thinking balls and strikes. It doesn't matter if the pitcher intended to throw the third ball. Regardless, the batter walks. And if that costs the game, it costs the game. I think that's how Dan sees it. And Mark sees MMA as fundamentally unlike a sport like baseball. There's no clean batter's box, etc.
There appears to be an issue with the video when they move there hands, appears to be ghosting. Great content guys, keep it up.
Bro what the frame rate on the camera? It looks wicked slow
"LISTEN! If I don't like you, then you're not going to get a break for an eye poke!" - Mark "Not So" Goddard
MORE MARC X DAN
1:33:00 Hey Dan, a good analogy for kneeing downed opponents argument is the new ruling of high tackles in rugby. If a defender makes a tackle aiming for the ball or chest area and defender's shoulder slides up and makes contact with the head, that defender will be sin binned or sent off regardless of intent. I agree with you, you should be penalised if you knee a downed opponent whether it was intentional or accidental.
Imagine if Askren has touched the floor with the tip of his finger 0.1 seconds before Jorge landed the flying knee. Would that be fair to punish Masvidal and give him the loss? Personally I think a no contest would be the fair result. Really interesting discussion though!
51:00 wasn't Gus suppose to fight Mousasi when Ilir stepped in?
"Listen to what I'm saying." Haha
i think the issue you didn't mention is that if you automatically DQ someone if their opponent can't continue after an illegal knee, then they're incentivized to say they can't continue even if they're fine especially if they were losing prior. and if you wanna take away the referee discretion or grey area, then you just have to take their word for it even if they're clearly lying.
The problem with deciding if fighter is disqualified or not based on whether fight can continue or not is that the person who got fouled will almost always pretend to be not to be able to continue, you can't prove without a shadow of a doubt if they are acting or make them continue. The only logical thing is to let the ref make that decision so that there will always be doubt of the outcome in the person who threw the strike, or the person it landed on, so that they are more likely to be honest competitors. Unless its changed that you cant win by DQ
I fucking love Marc Goddard
