There is always something happening, notifications, deadlines, to-do’s, posing for an hour straight after a shower... and I'm starting to hate it. I feel like I’m in a loop and everything feels like stress.
So I found a method that almost forces you to destress, shuts your body off, to truly experience nothing.

  • I tried sensory depravation and it was impossible to relax as well. Between constantly hitting the sides of the tank, getting salt in my eyes and mouth and any tiny cut I had on my body burning really bad, it was impossible. It was the longest, most boring hour of my life and I’d never do it again also. Don’t feel too bad, Will!

  • What happened with Will was what he needed, in a way. Through the process, he realized he needed to work more on himself to overcome barriers preventing him from doing 'nothing'. He may not have gotten the desired result, but at least there was something useful he got out of all this. I feel bad he got anxious like that. Stay strong, buddy!

  • Definitely one of those things that takes a couple of tries to get used to not... trying to control something. I love floating but i personally wouldnt want the added stressors of the hot and cold before hand. Just seems like it would be harder to bring myself back down from that. Once you finally learn to "let go" thats when floating really helps. Let go of control and just float. I even try to almost sleep. I also do it later in the evening and then after i go to bed and wake up the next morning i feel so refreshed its unbelievable. Also, after a couple of times and you get the hang of it, you'll soon realize that one hour isnt enough. It typically takes me 20-30 minutes for my body and brain to just turn off and relax.

    • I’m a total wimp but I went to a hot and cold thing, except the ice bath was bigger so you could go up to your neck and fit up to 6 people. I actually felt amazing after and very relaxed. But it’s easier with a group to help motivate each other

  • That neck tension ruins it, it's legit hard to relax in there for me, I gave up after 40 minutes of absolute discomfort. The water feels unpleasant, somehow it feels oily because of all that salt content. I felt like I couldn't breathe inside, it's extremely hot and humid. Went in to relax, left more stressed. Yeah, I'm high strung, I thought that's why I should try it. 1/10 would not go to that place again, I felt lied to. That shit ain't relaxing me, made me feel like a broken human.

    • @@White-dj2go You beg the question, why even go? LMAO. They advertise relaxation and relief from stress and tension. People should know neck tension while floating is very common, it will go away a couple hours later but it makes it damn near impossible to relax in there. It's not a mindset thing, it's an unconscious attempt to keep our heads above water.

  • I am from Germany, now living in Sweden and in both countries sauna is a very normal thing. I have always wanted to try a float tank as well, but THIS seems to be like the ultimate experience. Multiple rounds of sauna, ice baths (usually I take cold showers after sauna, if I am not close to a cold lake), light therapy, strobo lights and then a whole hour of floating, which is quite long. This must be like 2 weeks of meditation.

  • Don't be angry at yourself for not being able to relax. Reaching a meditative state takes training and time. The floating may help to reach this state because you are deprived of most distractions apart from your own thoughts. Simply notice when you are anxious or thinking about stuff and continu to try to think about 'nothing'. It's okay.

    • LOL so strange to me that people do what's done in this video since seizure risk. That's because all 1 has to do to relax is think of something funny to laugh or that works for me at least. Maybe that just means I'm smarter or dumber than most. I created funny songs. I sang them in videos on this channel. IMO a person that can't relax must have a brain injury for acting like thinking of something funny is difficult because if it's hard to create funny stuff OTHER people have done it so just think of what 1 of them created.

    • yea, it took me a while through normal meditation, but it has definitely made me more calm and focused compared to before, i would recommend anyone to try it.

  • A bad float is so bad. Went to a place in Greensboro, NC and it smelled of mildew; the air was hot and stale. I could hear the music from the lobby. I kept drifting, bouncing from one side to another like the logo in that Office skit. What deprivation there was enhanced the discomfort of everything else and triggered impatience and ADHD
