    • IMO all the VR processing should be done on a phone in your pocket which is powerful enough already or VR can be added easily. The the video could be transmitted wirelessly to a lightweight headset or even thin glasses, taking away the bulky look and feel. This has the advantage of not having to carry a battery with a wire. Just some thoughts for the future.... :)

We assume social media is the problem when in fact maybe it's humanity losing its ability to adapt itself, to change and be better. Maybe we're too set in our ways to change ourselves to adapt to this new tech. Your friends, the outside world, it's all still there. Changed, surely. But there.

  • Your point around feeling concerned about shortening attention spans is absolutely spot on!

    @FeelProductive@FeelProductive2 ай бұрын
    • I was thinking this too, except he doesn’t touch on the most concerning aspect. Sure having access to whatever content you want whenever you want isn’t good but phones already do that. More concerning is that it allows you to do loads of things at once, you could have multiple shows on, you could be sat in a meeting with a KZhead video playing on the side. Basically what tiktok videos do to keep peoples attention like putting subway surfers below the video, you can now do that in real life too. At least with phones for the most part you can only use it for one thing at a time, sure you can do other things in real life whilst doing something on your phone but I think headsets like this would make it much worse. Also with social media you can have it permanently open and in your vision which definitely won’t be healthy. I guarantee before long someone will get caught driving with one of these on, likely watching a video or on social media. I hope apple made it so that it can detect if someone is driving and close all apps and tell them to get off the headset. I doubt the technology is good enough to be used when driving although if done right it could have advantages. The cameras could eliminate glare or darken the sun so you can see properly, it could have AR navigation but again only if done right and safely, so no apps other than the navigation open when driving. The field of view would also have to be as good as the human eye, if not better before it is allowed to be used when driving. Adding AR features to windscreens or on the dashboard is likely a safer option. Someone should try it when driving but on private property and slowly just to see if it lets you use it or not, if it does then that is a huge safety concern. Devices like this should be able to detect you are driving and either stop functioning or enter a driving mode and that driving mode should have to be regulated and approved for use.

Its assumed it is an archetype which can be highly adaptable in a certain amount of freedom. >.> As the amount of people on this specific spectrum increase, adding to that other neurdivergency that need an individual working enviroment, this is supposed to solve the question of space. Also.. not just space. But ressources. You realise how hard it is for people to afford and maintain multiple objects? The goal of VR was never to be a specific thing. This is why it is Virtual Reality. Its supposed to visualise multiple things. >.> Lets just say i am following this fantasy since i am a teenager. Even reading into the fantasies of like over a hundred novels on this topic. Escape, Simulation, Ressource Management and Proliferation . Escape is obvious. Simulation is obvious if you know the Sims and TV adaptations of scifi, manga and cyberpunk. Ressource Management already explained. Ressource Proliferation: Kinda explained.. Based on an enviroment that works for you, adapting new skills, learning multi tasking skills, employing set enviroment to generate income, as well as generate the enviroment to escape all the boxes we stack since forever be it societal constraints, houses or how we have to appear at work to seem functional. >.> Corona was just a special case where we dipped into not having an office for a while and webcams and stuff.. are certainly not the future of work space. Simulating the optimal enviroment as long as you have presence and keeping people out of your head and giving them simply you while you have to do the rest.. also it fits into jobs infringing on private time.

Driving it from an MBP or a good gaming PC would be amazing. • Glad you mentioned how special the 3D capabilities are for it. It's the best technology we currently have to deliver 3D imagery to our eyes. 3D in movie theaters has always been based on placing both images on the same screen, either alternating very quickly many times per second and having the glasses have electronic shutters in them that are synced up to the alternating images... or using polarized lenses in the glasses and displaying the images with different polarization. The first way creates the 3D image by tricking your brain into seeing two different images at once, when it isn't, so it can create strain for some people, and can increase judder, etc. The second way dims the image and can cause ghosting problems when the polarization doesn't quite filter the images out from each other perfectly, and the effect also disappears when you tilt your head, so you have to keep your head perfectly straight to see it properly. VR headsets have always been the best way to see 3D images, because it actually has two separate screens delivering a separate image directly to each eye at full brightness and perfect discreetness at the exact same time... but the problem there has always been low resolution and screen-door effects... but with the resolution of the screens that Apple shoved into the Vision Pro, that now takes that one last hurdle away, and VIOLA! ... We now have a device that delivers the most perfect 3D experience possible.

  • Very much liked your review. Interesting perspectives and balanced. Apple is probably also, apart from stirring up developers, testing the waters to see in what scenarios people use it most: office use, outdoor/travelling scenarios, ...). What I however think I -- or you(r team)-- missed is the screen duplication. I believe other reviewers say that the vision pro, connected to steam vr on a Microsoft machine, can do multiple screens. This is for professional use very exciting as it is the best vr display around. Being able to zone out of any office environment with multiple virtual screens is very appealing to me (unlike the rest of the use cases), here I want complete and utter focus and no distractions while still being physically 'reachable' by people. In the review it says it isn't as sharp as another screen, but, after reviewing the bit several times this is, compared to the best around. Well most dual set-ups in an office also pale to the best around...

    • Well, except for "Look at the way you can now immerse yourself in complete privacy even in a crowded environment! Look how NOW you can have your own virtual movie theater for the first time ever!" That wasn't Honest AT ALL. Why do people keep lying about this? Why are YOU lying about this? Have you never seen a VR headset before? Yes, Apple Vision Pro is crisper and more detailed, but that's not what is being said, or what is said in this video. It literally says that never before have you been able to go into a virtual theater, and that is simply 100% untrue. Also, i've never encountered a single person who could not adjust the fit of any of my 3 Quests, my Go, or PSVR so that it at least fit on their head, but he states in the video that some people cannot try his Apple Vision Pro because it's impossible to adjust it enough for their head size and that this is true of every other VR headset. So there is another false statement, although less so. It IS true that every headset needs minor adjustment when passing off.

  • The eye tracking issue for selecting items quickly (like the example of jumping to the last digit of your pin) isn't one of jumping to the next number as much as it is one of selection animation latency. They foveated rendering is ready to go when your at the next eye target, but you have to wait for the selection animations to complete before you're allowed to make a sleection. Also, the biggest flaw of the vision pro, other than the field of view, is the reliance on AirPods pro for personal sound. The airpods really suck at cancelling sound. They simultaneously fail to cancel voices and heavy noise and they also have to high pressure impact from the cancellation. $90 in ears do a much better job of both eliminating ambience, and providing quality sound. You can also make it through a long flight wearing your in ears where you will have to dock the airpods to charge.

I’ve noticed like everything else they get used to me wearing it and I just let them know that I can see everything and to let me know if they need anything. the first week or two it did feel very isolating but now not so much though I will say that isolating feature is great when you’re working on it to keep you focused and not being constantly distracted by your phone or other things.

They are too heavy, and too uncomfortable to use for a prolonged period of time. It's very expensive. It causes too much eye strain to be useful in replacing normal desktop work.
