  • Hands are blessed with craft. This old gentleman makes guitar with so much of passion. Often we reject local hand made guitars so easily because of its quality and sound but never knew that makers are so much capable of making world-class guitars. Only they need financial support and proper tools to use. And his smile made me cry. So much ignorance by elite and rich people but still he smiles making six strings. Love from bottom of my heart.

These are low quality instruments, obviously, but damn! If nothing else that was incredibly refreshing . . . just in terms of his approach to instrument building.

Some parts of the build surprised me like Darkening the fretboard to look like it was Ebony or rosewood, no Trussrod, The fretwire used, the white dots inlay with korex eraser, zero fret with separate nut, no proper finishing with sandpaper. Well it can be compromised considering the price.

  • He is very skilled and if he had better materials and maybe better tools, he would probably make excellent instruments. These instruments, however, probably won’t last very long. With steel strings and no truss rods, the necks will bend upward within a year and they will be unplayable. It also looks like top, bottom and sides are made of plywood or some other laminated wood. I wonder how much the craftsman gets per guitar compared to how much the final buyer pays. I would bet that they are advertised as “ hand made instruments” (which is correct) and sold for a lot of money. Interesting and educational to watch, however.

  • This video should be renamed to "Horrifying Process of Making A Guitar Shaped Object". The sloppy work, the incorrect measurements, the materials he uses, the techniques. It's fundamentally wrong. I wouldn't ever be so bold as to call that thing a guitar. And calling the man a musical instrument master is an insult to all luthiers in existence. There's a damn reason people learn instrument making for years and not just slap together pieces of wood and metal until it looks similar to a musical instrument.

    • He's not making a guitar. He's making a living. I know what you mean, but he's also working to his market. • That’s harshly phrased, but in truth the ebonized bridge, neck, back and sides are hardly high-end Luther. More important, the lack of care in intonating the instrument means it is apt to play out of tune. That said, there is a place in the world of music for affordable instruments, as the stellar music of Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, Django Reinhardt and many other music geniuses of folk, blues and country music attests.

      @georgefrench1907@georgefrench19072 жыл бұрын
    • As soon as I saw the nails I thought oh dear this is not going to be good, the reason he did not tune it is because of the break angle and the action, he would have to put so much pressure on the strings while holding an open chord it would be all out of tune, and instead of cutting the nut to the correct size he cut massive gouges in it in an attempt to lower the action
