  • My grandmother bought me an Alvarez Yairi when I graduated from college. On it is an engraved plaque that says, “You can do whatever you want to.” She used to tell me that when I’d get so discouraged that I felt like quitting. To this day whenever I play my guitar I feel connected to her and the strength she gave me through her words.

  • I just like watching Japanese people build things. They are totally NO BS. Their shops, their tools, their jigs, it's all zero BS, just whatever works to get it done. Very dedicated folks. I have the utmost respect for their works.

    • @@RobChapala yes. It’s made properly, but without any pretence. If this funny scrap of word works perfectly as a jig, use it; why buy a new machine if the old one is perfect; but don’t skimp on details, time, materials, etc. I go out of my way to buy certain things from Japan, they are just better.

Hide glue crystallizes when dries and tends to transfers vibration much more effectively then gummy old Titebond. As for your myth comment, I've performed side by side tests using a spectrum analyzer to verify what my ear already knew. I find most of the people that bash hide glue have never tried it. @@charlesrichter3854

What I really loved was the calm meditative quiet atmosphere as these artisan craftspeople created beautiful instruments......After watching dozens of not hundreds of acoustic guitar videos on Utube and not being able to make up my mind which brand and make I should buy, I believe I am watching this wonderful video for a reason......that my first acoustic guitar should be a Yairi; that is just the Ying-Yang of it.....somethings we just cannot explain......it's the creativity of flow & glow. Thank you all for helping me find the path. This was a beautiful experience and will give me a deeper connection to my first acoustic guitar.👏🙏
