Yeah I don't blame you, I don't like that canyon when it's looking like that. My kids live in Vernal and I'm in Price. One year I went through Indian canyon in a bad snow storm with 3-4 feet and I was the only one so I was pushing snow with my bumper lol, scary but I did it. A memory that I won't forget for sure.😊😊😊

North MN and the annual trip to Fargo ND New Years gun show was always -30 or a snow storm. The short cut on the way home saved 20 miles and it was plowed so I chanced it. Turns out the county garage was 1/2 mile up the road and the plow had only come OUT to the main highway. I did 25 miles with the 70 Lemans bumper pushing untracked snow at 35mph in the dark. Any faster it started spinning, any slower it started dragging to a stop. 1/2 way through a guy in a bobcat with no lights was plowing his driveway. “Missed him by that much” as Maxwell Smart said.

I grew up in northeastern Wisconsin. In winter the county roads and sometimes the city street were snow covered and icy. I learned to drive in shallow snow without snow tires. You just drive slower, don't speed up or slow down fast. Don't slam on brakes in turns. As long as the front wheels are moving you have control. I would rather drive on very cold ice than melting ice. Shallow snow is no problem just avoid steep hills. People living in the south of the USA have no idea about driving in winter snow and ice. I remember driving highways in winter over light snow and ice at over 55 mph with no problems. Just watch this professional truck drive and listen to his comments. Watch, listen and learn.

Try to hauling 100 tons on glare ice in the mountains where your chains don't even make a dent in the ice.
Awesome stay safe sir keep posting 💪
God that's some beautiful country! Hope you got through it.
You are the best snow plain drifter.
Name for new truck; “Black Betty”Ram Jam. Old black Betty bamalam, old black Betty bamalam. Peace
Years ago my uncle slid an overloaded oil rig truck off a pass near Parachute Colorado and almost died. He never trucked again. Fear is a sign.
God, that really did look scary! Mike be careful. I know you are a pro and acustomed to these mountains but still BE CAREFUL!!!
In from CA but learning to drive in the snow as a truck driver now getting to where I like winter the best but not ice . Pull over when it’s ice
Hi Mike, some ppl cannott see Black Trsckers, etc. Plz put reflective stickers around Bettys front end. Do something. I need you safe. "Brin her down clown" You make chucle. 😊 😊Peace. (Thanks for letting the vid recorder going for a while longer. No details. Love ya ❤)
Up-and-over Indian Canyon? What a lovely drive, but a beautiful drive. Nice job. In the 1970's I lived in Vernal and worked for the red and grey. We were banned from this highway because of the danger, in our large cars . Had to go west on 40 and then circle around and come over 6 . First time I ever rode in the buddy seat thank you for the ride.😊😅😂
Interesting that you caught up with that guy at the end. The corner at 30.05 yee ha. I was more nervous after the hill than going up or down. Long time OTR still helps
Great driving!
I never liked chaining up...but you gotta do what you gotta do. Many of the new guys out there over the years didn't know how or have the proper equipment to do it.
Excelente !!!
That was fun! From my pov, anyway.😊
I went through a Montana highway in very similar conditions through some national park through rolling hills was close to having to chain up
I Enjoy your videos I don't travel much so this kinda takes me Away ❤
You good hand...fear is of the devil...GOD IS WITH YOU..BE CAUTIOUS...AND CONCERNED... YOU GOT THIS..I remember times that the Snoqualmie pass was closed and another hand and I opened it and proceeded making fresh tracks as my bumper was plowing the 18 plus inch snow out of the way
Actually - the colder it is, the better off you are. When it's 26° or warmer up to 32° especially with U.V. hitting the ice - THAT'S when it's pucker time.
I love a super 10 they are my favorite transmission, a lot more fun than a straight 10!!
Get Onspot automatic chain system on the new truck👍
Riding Shotgun equates to a road less traveled... let's go. I hope the transition to Betty will be as smooth as you drive ... shiny side up
Our radio choice in northern Canada is a VHF!
Take me on a ride!
been in a few Major Pucker Factors.... the highest was a 9 out of 10, bad guys shooting at me..... lol back in 65. Fun times..... be safe my friend.
Beautiful morning drive but also dangerous.
I am stressed out if you put it that way watching your video yeah. I'm on my couch riding shotgun. I moved out of the big city and had to learn to drive on secondary highways and roads some non divided (small car). I had to learn the terrain and where the bad spots were and what the potential hazards could be(and there are more than a few), not to mention the importance of winter tires and the importance of different drivetrains. Seeing what you do is actually nerve racking but educational.
😄👍Good Stuff, Great Tips
Hi Mtn man Mike, what are you carrying today.?. I love rriding w you. Comfortable and w out stress. Love knowing whos barefoot. Haha.!. T.y. for uploads of two vids today. Congtats on getting your Black Betty. When your going a down hill, do you drive w her jake on, to some degree ? Youre a great drive Sir. ❤ Lv Debs, NH
You ever think of going up to Alaska ang driving the haul roads and Ice roads
Driving my crane truck down a steep icy road is more nerve racking than the worst turbulence I've been in in my small plane.
Yes the new truck Peace out
Good am too. Nice vidz❤
You either need a stronger antenna or need your cb tuned
It was a good ride. Guess I missed a vid, thought the truck you were getting was blue ?
Be.safe out there
Oh Black Betty! She’s yours Mike!!❤️😀🐗🇺🇸
Keep the duck. The angry duck rules !
Exactly!
Chain 4 drives, 2 trailers and 2 steers. Driver 15-20 mph. You’ll be fine. I chain up sometimes when it’s not required just ease my stress levels
I was hoping you made it to US6 before the end. I don't believe I have ever been on that stretch of 191. I was wondering, so you told us you were in a tanker. I don't understand you getting fired from Quality though. Anyways, good to see you.
You know heavy D is giving a big truck away with 4 wheel drive bull bars new engine etc. I believe the entry is 1 dollar nice truck
Where did you go? Miss your videos, please come back, we miss you. Kevin
Stay home. It helps to have the right equipment.
I noticed that when you flying down the other Sid you stopped talking, that is when I started to stress, woo.
I threw a hard biscuit out one day in a parking area . It had rained the day before , the pavement was dry with puddles . A crow appeared , pecked at it a few , then picked it up and dropped it a puddle deliberately . It soggied up and , he ate it 👍
I'm more scared about this truck buying deal. HOPE ILL GET ON WITH THE BIG COMPANY? No...THEN WHAT? New ride, New lease equals ive got 20.000 bucks im sitting on after everything else. UNEXPECTED HURTS! Good luck man, no really, hope alls well. Be safe driver.
Something so beautiful can be so dangerous
Looks like you have good tires?
I don't know about the rest of you drivers out there but I hate having an automatic transmission in snow and mountains. There's just no safe way to come down icy grades without the proper gear control that a manuals give. I can't lock in a lower gear in my automatic Volvo because the manual option has been blocked. Thank God I'm running the Southwest now so it's not a problem except Flagstaff, lol. I used to be out of Denver but that was when I was allowed to control my gears.
