I decided to check out some of my viewer's maps and share some thought about them. I talk about what I would've done differently to both the route and scenery and why. This video should be seen as an educational video, guideline or a tutorial if you will.. Hopefully you can learn a thing or two about how I think when I'm playing a map for the first time :D
These videos take a lot of time to make, as I am only one person working on them. So if you want to support me, you can do so by pressing the join button and becoming a member!
Huge thanks to all the people that decide to do so. It really means a lot! :D

Finally a video I can refer to when some Pepegas tell me gears aren‘t important and that the mapper wanted it to be like that x) Great video as always =)
Heres something I never understood about mappers being responsible for the gears. Why can't a mapper leave tough gear management in the map? I think its a part of the game (even if I personally don't really like it).
@@michaelbrackman8967 As Karlberg said: It's not nice getting punished for being fast. Furthermore it's unintuitive to release to be faster and taking unintuitive weird lines only because of gears is kinda ass as well
5:02 as a beginner, i didn't know about the fake finish = GPS convention so this is actually quite useful information
"wake up babe, new karlberg video"

Yay, another super video, where I can learn something new
Mr Karlberg, you are improving at an exponential rate. Very fun to watch.
+1 saw this guy for the first time recently and i’m really enjoying! :D excited to see what’s to come
Wow du lär mej verkligen mycket alltså. bästa videon för att lära sej att köra. är video om att bygga haha
watching all your new vids while waiting for the "30" minute mapping comp to be over, YEP
4:30 sad finishes
:(
Great video Karlberg, one thing: I really struggle with actually designing my uphill turns like this one 9:10 so that they are no no-slide turns. Could you show/ give some tips on how to diversify these sections?
The speed when initiating the neoslide on that map is around 190. You wanna keep your speed around that mark, and make sure the turn is consistent.
Tbh, to avoid that calculate in a way u reach the turn with higher speeds. Ideal would be around 240-260 cuz ur in 4th gear then
The angle is too sharp and the speed too little. Making the turn wider and/or giving the player more speed (no jump) would be the solution. Just try multiple approaches and pick what feels the most natural.
10:37 nice self-compliment :^)
Great video and thanks for the mapping advise
Great video! Next time I play trackmania on my friends computer (mine can't really run it) I really want to try one of your maps!
Feel u TM2020 is also nearly unplayable for me. I play TMNF insted, it is also a quite good game.
@@belldragneel8381 yeah I've given it a try and it's great, but TM2020 is just so beautiful and smooth. The scenery is great and the lights add a lot to the experience
@@santiagoaramburu7802 u r absolutely right
What I don't understand is if those gear shifts in particular turns are equally challenging and difficult for every single player who decides to play a map... why actually should a maker "fix" them. I mean do you want to create only easy and smooth as butter tracks or also something that is harder but also more rewarding if you get a good time despite the gear challenges? This is what I never understand as a casual viewer who doesn't actually play the new Trackmania version 😆
There is a big difference between intended hard gears and unintended annoying gears, but I know what you mean :D In these maps I specifically checked the author's best run and validation run to see if something was intended or not^^
@@KarlbergTM I mean. It seems kinda cool to me to go through basically the same turn, but have to take it different based on the gear. I guess if it's unintended it's fair to complain though
Selling out for my transitional shorts campaign :D
An upload! A blessing from the lord
I want to see more videos i love them so much keep it up
I played the grass map today (27.01.2024), cause i like weird maps (gears in this case). I can recommend the map to anybody that wants a challenge in gear management :D
Nice video. Would be awesome to see like a part 2 or something.
I have another video doing basically the same thing, so there is a part 2!

Please run the whole map before going into details for each part, it’s hard to understand the track as a whole otherwise. Great video other than that.
This. With the gameplay sound. It helps a lot to understand gears imo, much more than explaining it.
