If live versions are better, it's because of the energy everyone's feeling. When you believe/feel what you're singing, which can be augmented in the moment with the rest of the band playing it too and the audience being into it, the result is often better

Name an act that's out there today that has a rhythm section, horns, orchestras, various instruments, aka "real music", that doesn't come from a computer, or isn't a sample from that "real music." The music industry has been taken over by businessmen and attorneys, and they don't have a clue about how it works. There are no more A&R professionals, no one is teaching them etiquette, no one cares about their public persona. Instead, they grab these people who will provide controversy in order to drive traffic to social media sites, which drives up sales, and none of the publicity they get comes from being actually talented. Call us music gatekeepers all you want, but we came from an era where talent was actually required, and EVERYONE had a different sound, look, and image that made them stand out from one another. Real talent doesn't need autotune, and it definitely doesn't need to sample music made 20 or more years ago. P.S. In case you haven't been paying attention, Bruno and Anderson are a couple of those "music gatekeepers" you speak of. After all, this particular performance takes place on a Soul Train inspired set, complete with the Soul Train Scramble Board, wardrobe, and dancers. They both were fortunate enough to be exposed at a young age to the musical heavyweights from the 70s/Soul Train era. Bootsy Collins, who named the group, and is a featured guest on this ALBUM, is one of them.

Silk Sonic has so nailed the sound, look, and feel of the 70's that I had a flashback to my childhood. This genuinely felt like a Saturday afternoon watching Soul Train. It seemed so authentic that for a few seconds after they finished, I thought Don Cornelius would come walking out. The gut punch when I came back to reality. But those few minutes were nostalgic and beautiful.

I really hope this is the return of R/B and soul music. We need it now more than ever
Having grown up with Soul, Disco, Funk, R&B and seen the beginning of Hip Hop; Silk Sonic is what the music industry needs right now. Watching them perform live reminds me of watching The Enchanment, Blue Magic, Confunkshun and every other group who killed it on the Soul Train stage. Can see Don Cornelius wishing them love, peace and soul from Heaven.
50's and 60's R&B, 70's disco. 90's and 2000's boy band. Put it in a bag and shake the shit out of it. Then add Anderson and Mars sonic and silk voice to it. This is truly the one and only time any one made real music for ages. This isn't just epic. This will be historic!
I love Anderson and I love Bruno each as solo artists but their collaboration together with Silk Sonic has taken my love for them and their music to another level. From Anderson's raspy voice to Bruno's runs and power, I am left in awe each time I listen to them together. Perfection! Bruno's doing homage music lately. The last album was 90s. Don't be surprised if he goes to rock'n'roll next since as a kid he portrayed Elvis. All of this is a good way for him to refine himself and come out with something that will just be a new refined level Bruno from the days of his beginning albums.

I hate to see that even up to this point people don’t give enough credit to Andy. He is as a part of the duo as Bruno. Bruno always highlights in their interviews how talented Andy is and how he is a pivotal part of this project. He deserves to be recognized for the amazing multitasking musician and performer that he is, that he has always been actually. Cmom people!! I absolutely love Bruno and I absolutely love Andy as well. Both of them r the reasons for Silk Sonic to be as great a project as it is!
Right! Andy not only can sing but his drumming is the highlight of every song. That break down on Fly As Me is all Andy. Bruno's voice is perfect almost like Michael's but Andy's raspy voice is crooked in all the right places and beautiful. His humor works too.
