Andre must be living on airplanes. Dude's everywhere.
Fan favorite. More Andre = more views haha
Making more money for the greedy roman sob
@@andreiionescu205 Andre would not have his dream job without greedy Roman. I wouldn't have my job either without my greedy boss.
@@andreiionescu205you don’t have to watch you know. It’s a business. That’s why it’s successful
triplets...you didn't know?
They cut the price in half, but dealer “market adjustments” will make up the difference.
Toyota yes they are marking up. Lexus no. My dealership honored the msrp for the gx
Go through Costco. They don't allow dealer "adjustments."
...and after the initial craze those markups will disappear.
Not in Canada it's illegal if iam lucky enough to get my hands on one
the old land cruiser 200 ,Toyota only sold the top top trim level in the U.S. as other markets had a base utilitarian model ,like the box look both should sell well, no 3rd row no moon roof back to basics 4x4 wagon ,as the sequoia TRD PRO is more , 3 row luxury family school bus and the fold down seats take up to much space
I am more excited about the Land Cruiser as that is the one I can afford 😄
Although we don't have LC pricing, if the base version prices are within $5-6K, of one another, I will go with the vehicle with the larger engine and Lexus refinement.
I just ordered the gx premium bc it was cheaper than the landcruiser. Toyota said they were marking it up 10k and Lexus honored the msrp of theirs.
@@GeorgeRM85 congrats man, have many happy miles.
Yea and if you really want luxury at around 100k+ you better go with a Range Rover.
Range Rover reliability blows and the depreciation is insane. Good at off road but not really a smart buyers choice unless the priority is all about the show.
Love this comparison series. Roman and Andre, you do such a good job. Love your passion for vehicles.
im liking the fact that the rear still has a live axle 👍
The video preview makes it look at first glance like the Land Cruiser has vintage Toyota off-road graphics going on (the yellow/orange/red stripes). That would look really great!
I’d really like the twin turbo V6 in the Land Cruiser.
Same. Even if they were the same price, there is something appealing about driving a humble Toyota
You mean the Land Cruiser 300 that's sold in global markets but not in North America.
You mean lc300
The interaction between you two is refreshing
Come on guys they didn't cut the price in half, they just brought in a new version of the Prado that was sold outside North America. The real fullsize Landcruiser is not sold in the US anymore.
People in these comments are completely oblivious to that fact. It’s a Prado (LC250), not the LC300. It’s sad and funny. Hopefully the 27 mpg thing on the LC250 is true, I don’t know why they’re selling it here when there’s the 4Runner.
LX600 = LC300. We get the LX.
@@faheemabbas3965 because market segmentation. The reason they didn't update the 4runner is because they can keep selling it as an old V6 and 4runner diehards love to overpay for old technology because "simpler tech easier to fix", so why not keep selling it, while bring in a "Landcruiser" to satisfy people who want new tech. People just get too attached to brands and labels, this is basically a 4runner replacement.
@@PWCDNNope Toyota are still going ahead with the launch of a new 4Runner for sale sometime in 2026.
@@PWCDN spy shots for the next 4Runner went online this week. Look it up.
Minute 5:20 BOTH ARE FULLTIME 4WD! Not just the Lexus.
I'd take either one. The GR Sport variant on the Landcruiser (aka Prado as it is called here in Australia), or the Overtrail variant on the GX. Which ever has the shorter waiting queues for delivery. Looking forward to these being finally released here.
one thing i must say is i like the modular panels for both the headlights and taillights, makes for a lot more customisation in the future or potential for multiple design options or facelifts
I like the cloth seats and buttons of the LC.
Love the Ty-yota’s😂🤣 round head lights, don’t need the rectangle ones. I rate Jobs #1-A10 Warthog Pilot #2-TFL Presenter!
I accidentally had the video on 0.75x and it sounded like Roman and Andre were drunk reviewing the LC. It had me so confused
I like them both! I'm probably waiting for the hybrid GX OT, though. 👍
I'm not taking either one on safari, but it looks perfect for getting to the ski slopes before the roads close.
Why not?
Mid 50s these will be everywhere. Nice.
Elbow out the window??!1 I am sold.
Love that retro Land Cruiser. I like that the display doesn’t look like some one slapped a iPad on the dash.
I like the base Cruiser. You get the platform, and the rear locker, all the off road goodies and actual buttons inside for $55k. If you want the rear locker in the GX you have to go for the Overtrail which will be around $75k. I don’t think the V6 and the premium interior is worth $20k to me. Would I rather have the V6? Sure. But not for that premium. Plus I like having physical buttons, I really dig those fabric seats, and the more heritage look of the 1958 model. And honestly, I don’t tow, or really have any need for all that extra power. It’s just nice to have, and less complicated than the hybrid system. That being said Toyota is the best in the biz when it comes to hybrid tech so prolly a nonissue. Great vid as always. For GX price I’d get a Grenadier.
Well said
The towing is a bit of a red herring…. I don’t know what boat Andre is towing that he needs 8000lbs…. Most boats up to 21 ft are more in the 3500lb range….
It's body on the frame chasis which means it won't hurt if it scrapes a bit by the thick frame - no major damages. Weak points are higher either way. Subarus are more prone to bend and plastic cladding cracks. And it has all real necessary drivetrains as trans and flexible joints for wheels.
Land Cruiser rumored 27 mpg vs. Gx 17 mpg. Huge difference.
Thought the new tacoma which uses the same engine as the LC average 23 mpg combine...
do people really care about mpg when looking at luxury offroaders?
@@bendino9016 What's MPG? lol
@@bendino9016 yes
@@bendino9016 sometimes people just hate going to the pump often, just the chore in itself. Especially people with money. Pretty sure they don't care about saving gas though.
It should be noted that there's no direct correlation between the last V8 LC200 and this LC250 called LC Prado in other markets. The LX600 and the d/c for US LC300 share the same platform and are the direct successors. This new LC is not going to get the turbo 6 because it's already in the GX to justify the additional premium. The same turbo 4 will also be in the next 4-Runner, which will undercut the LC in price and be more off road focused (perhaps more TRD influence).
Can’t wait for them to come out and there will be 3 for sale within 500 mile radius.
I wonder how long it will take the aftermarket to come up with the 1958 headlights for the Land Cruiser Land Cruiser
I am on the list for LC first edition. Just received a call from dealership with choice of color. I choose the trail dust and will be here in 4-6 weeks. I love old school look with at the tech . Had a Land Rover defender and loved it. But LC is much better as a long term daily suv.
Perfect replacement for my grand cherokee overland. Capabilities and better economy.
Checked at a Lexus dealer today for the scoop on an Overtrail…they want $10k-15k premium for the “1st 6 months” 🤬
Both gorgeous trucks- have to go with the GX though! Also- the new 4Runner is coming soon- can't wait!
Love both of these. Will be interesting to see where the 4Runner falls price-wise. Could be some pretty tough decisions for people going forward
Can you please compare the cargo capacity between the two? Lexus has released the GX cargo capacity as 90 cu ft with all the seats down so I'm wondering how the Land Cruiser with the battery in the cargo area compares!
For me, it would come down to the sound system. If the Land Cruiser gets a JBL system and it's really satisfying, that would be the way I'd prefer to go due to lower cost of ownership. The Mark Levinson system available in the GX I am sure is on another level, but that requires an additional 20k in spending to even option the sound system. Not to mention, the GX most likely requires premium fuel and is at 17 MPG combined, where as the LC should take 87, at, allegedly, 27 MPG combined - that saves over $1,600 in fuel over 15,000 miles/year
Yes, the top-of-the-line over trail is in the mid 70s, but you can buy the base over trail, add a few options in you’re at $70,900. For that value, and what it offers, both liability, resale, and capability, it certainly gives the defender a real challenge. If you look throughout the world, these products are going to do very well and have a fantastic reputation.
Defender is absolutely better looking, but their quality is still no where near as bulletproof as Toyota. Know two people with Defenders and each have had minor problems (unstable infotainment, A/C compressor) within first year of ownership. In any case, both the GX and Toyo will sell well and are needed upgrades.
Tbh it would depend on dealer markups. If I end up getting enough money to buy either I'd lean towards Land cruiser because it has more off road goodies without going top trim $75k like the Lexus (and much better mpg). The v6 and towing capacity would be nice tho, and if markup on the Toyota side was bad I'd just order get lexus
Can't help but think that if you're patient the 3.4L V6 will be an option on Landcruiser in the future if that's a preference. Add small lift, 34-35s, King 2.5/Fox 2.5/OME and make it properly capable in the dirt. I dig it.
That being an option would be preferable. The Hybrid 4 Banger is not desirable.
😍 LOVE the new LC....but, I'M WAITING FOR NEW 4RUNNER!
Really glad they've brought this back to earth price wise, but I wonder if they're not going to cannibalize 4 Runner sales. I know a new one is on the way, but they're sitting on top of each other in price and size now, wonder how it'll shake out.
Yeah, I imagine the 4Runner will have a lower starting price but the TRD Pro version will be more off-road capable than the Land Cruiser to be a direct competitor to the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco.
They need to make the 4runner with a removable top to compete with the Wrangler and Bronco. Come on Toyota don't be afraid to go topless.
They just need to make a 2 door 4runner option to go against the wrangler and bronco.
@@gilly3531 that would be sweet especially if they put a manual in it.
I was on the Toyota and Lexus website comparing interior specs of these two and they were quite different, especially the rear leg room. If I remember correctly, the Land Cruiser was nearly 10 inches less. Are the dimensions measured differently between the two? Typo on the website? As a couple of guys that have sat in them, what are your thoughts on leg room between the two?
I'm on the waitlist for the GX. They say I may not get mine until next year though. Darn. Hopefully that means my eventual one will have some new design kinks worked out by then.
I was on the wait list and I canceled it. I just got the 23 Gx 460 thousands below MSRP, and only with the Gx 2.45% apr. It's solid V8 engine which will last forever. By the time they have the 550, there may be a markup.
Land Cruiser for me as that is the one I can more reasonably afford, assuming MSRP. I also already have an off road built GX460.
I prefer a fully loaded GX 550 Overtrail Plus because I can do both towing AND off road, mostly overlanding.
GX is better looking, much nicer interior, and a nice torquey turbo V-6 instead of a thrashy 4 banger hybrid.
Like the GX more. Seems a solid build. Made to last. Wonder when one will be available!!!!
Andre had the same room in the back of Ranger raptor and said its to tight but landsnoozer is comfortable?
I think the Land Cruiser ground clearance is the rear differential. I'd guess the body/frame is higher than that.
Toyota Land Cruiser is known for its ruggedness, dependability, and a go anywhere vehicle. Toyota should do everything it can to maintain that wonderful reputation. IMO, LC is the king of the off road! Capability and performance wise, it should not take a backseat to any vehicle - even a Lexus.
My local dealer sells Lexus at msrp. That LC will always have a price markup. I know the GX will be the same price as any LC because of markups on Toyotas🤷🏻♂️
I was on the wait list but I got the v8, thousands below MSRP with 2.45 apr. You are insightful 😊
TFL we get the turbo diesel in Europe given the opportunity would you have one over the hybrid
Gx550 is better by a long shot.
Totally, just needs a tailgate to sit on and a lifting rear window to keep you dry
only if you need all the specs
The GX doesn’t have the onboard power. To me that alone makes the LC a more attractive choice.
GX is ugly
@@ALMX5DPthis is a big one!
Needs a 2" lift, ko2 33s, gray steelie wheels, and a gray retro stripe down the side. Yupp
I'd get the Rivian R1S unless I had plans to do a lot of towing.
I love the exterior of the GX but I actually prefer the interior of the Land Cruiser
Big Toyota fan here but the v6 twin turbo Lexus seems like a better choice of engine for me regardless of mpg rating. I guess we all can dream of the new LC powered by the 4.0 v6 with a magnuson supercharger that Toyota offered a few years ago and a 6 spd manual
They're both one vehicle just under two names and distance by price. Perhaps both the Land Cruiser 250 and the GX550 should get Chevy Suburban-esque LWB variants with a third row being standard. LWB 250-Series would have 8 seats (seven if there are two Captain's Chairs in the 2nd row) while the GX550L would have 7 (6 if there are two Captain's Chairs in the middle row). Might they accommodate to Americans and others who missed out on the old 3-row Land Cruiser? We'll see.
Both look fantastic !
They are!
Is it coming back though? This is not really a replacement for the 200 Series. That is the 300 Series. This is just a Prado.
I like the front end of the Land Cruiser with the round headlights. But, I would rather have the twin turbo V6 in the GX.
Can we get the Petrol Prado in Australia, please?
And wait for the next 4runner. Things are going to get way more complicated.
Yeah, a lousy I-4.
Yeah, we have to be careful who we vote for…
27mpg for a retro big boxy suv made by toyota in japan. I'll take it. The interior will still look cool in 10 years, while the GX will be completely outdated.
Looks like a proper 4runner from the underside! 27 MPG is huge though ! Nothing compares to having a roll down back window ! Go Team 4 runner ! 🎉
Yea, but this is the Land Cruiser (Prado). The 4Runner will be cheaper. I'd imagine a Tacoma SR5 wagon.
There is a risk of sucking exhaust into the cabin if you roll down rear window while driving.
@@induction7895 then open the front windows.
@induction7895 the 4runner has had that roll down window for years and nobody really complained about it, until now when somebody pointed it out, if nobody said anything, it still wouldn't be an issue.
No, no, there isn't. Modern cars don't make enough exhaust for that to even be a thing. You're making stuff up...
If money not an issue gx is better in every way. Styling is subjective obviously but if budget an issue Land Cruiser is great too. They did a good job on these.
I’ll be getting the Lexus! Both are great though.
Did Andre say you had to switch the LC to 4WD?
Yeah he did- I think he just is mistaken.
The LC is full time 4wd also I believe
Have had a deposit down on the new Land Cruiser since the first day it was announced, but honestly on the fence about them. Would love one of the new Lexus Overtrails, but experience has told me to always buy Lexus used-rarely used hard and they depreciate way faster than Toyotas.
Will the 250 Land cruiser even make sense when the 2025/5 4runner comes out??
Toyota looks better in my opinion, but the Lexus might end up being the cheaper option
It’s a no brainer - go for the Land Cruiser! You guys are sooo lucky in the US - Toyota’s only engine option for Europe is a diesel 🤮 I’m thinking about importing a US spec hybrid LC
The fact the lc is part time 4wd does it for me 👍
I’m still confused by the sizing of the new Land Cruiser since the new 4Runner will be about the same size. Seems like they will be in the same space
It’s more upscale and more expensive options. The Land Cruiser has never been too much larger than the 4Runners
@@j_mars_cars agreed but the Land Cruiser in the US market was way more upscale than the 4Runner but this Land Cruiser isn’t more upscale
@@scotturich really? I don’t see it
@@j_mars_cars the 2021 Land Cruiser had a starting price of 87k and new 2024 has a starting price of 55k. Obviously it will be more than a 4Runner but when the new 4Runner goes on sale it will start in the mid 40k price and most 4x4 models will be in the mid 50’s either way feels like you’re eating into each others market
If it had the V6 I would be interested.
I want the GX, with B58 derivative inline six diesel engine
Is gx and Land Cruiser similar size?
i am a tall person out of curiousty how tall are each of you and how is the view out of the windshield thanks
What’s up with the red shoes Roman?
5:31 It’s hilarious that Roman doesn’t even know it’s the Overtrail version when Lexus flew him and Tommy out to review all the new GX550 trims and they reviewed the Overtrail no more than a week ago or so. It’s the only version that comes with those wheels and tires. Wow. Honestly, sick of Roman in these vids; all he does is make snarky comments about Andre’s Colorado not having cruise control and doesn’t add any valuable insights. If TFL just let Andre, Tommy, Kace, and Mr. Truck handle the videos, they’d be much better off! (David is good too!)
Maybe someone said this already but I'm pretty sure both the GX and the LC are full time 4wd.
The fact that the Toyota gets 27mpg is really quite astounding this vehicle class has traditionally been half that if you were lucky. It’s really a whole new era of big beastly SUVs…. That alone makes it more appealing than the Lexus imo
Agree. Lexus needs help and/or a hybrid (that is apparently forthcoming at a later date)
I'll get the Lexus GX at least for now. The dealer markup of the Land Cruiser is ridiculous. I saw one First Edition with $10K markup.
I was hoping for plug in hybrid for the land crusier not gas saving hybrid!
I'm taking a GX550 over the Land Cruiser. Mainly for the 3rd row, and also for added luxury. I just wished the Overtrail GX was available with 3rd row - big miss by Lexus! Or at least give the option of 18" off-road wheels/tires for the non-Overtrail with 3rd row.
I personally would go Land Cruiser as it is the nameplate I’ve always wanted as a child. And, well the one with a price tag that won’t hurt me in the wallet as much.
Well, considering you really aren’t getting a LC for that price, yet instead a 250 Pardo, is save your money and fine a nice, used LC 200. That you have not only a superior vehicle, but also you’ll have a true LC!!
This is not the next Land Cruiser 200 series, but the 150 series, so they didn't cut the price in half. The name Land Cruiser was used in the world but a few places like USA, where the name was Prado. Now they dropped the Prado name and kept the international Land Cruiser.
They look low to the ground. Maybe the 4Runner for me. I do like the v6 option but, cost price for that.
manual seat adjustment? and smaller 8 inch media screen? vol button placement is stupid.
Lexus has the best customer experience among all auto makers on including its father company Toyota. My best friend has taken delivery of his 20th Lexus and will never go back to Mercedes.
As a guy who prefers the Toyota brand over the Lexus brand, I really hope that the TT V6 will become an option on the Land Cruiser in future model years. I'm targeting the new Land Cruiser as my next vehicle, if I end up not liking the look of the 6th gen 4runner.
Well unless they make a tacoma Xrunner, that likely won't happen. Remember this land cruiser 250 is known as the prado in other parts of the world, so when the GX came to America as a luxury prado, it got a v8. Meanwhile, the most cylinders it got was a v6 from the 4runner. So it's highly unlikely toyota will do that to prevent canabalising sales.
You won’t😂, plan on that LC! You and I both, and by that time hopefully they announce the addition of the V6 in the LC.
They both look good, but I like the looks of the Lexus just a bit more. And the V6 is the icing on the cake. Downside is I need a small mortgage for it.
Neither! I’d want a 100 series engine in an 80 series body with a 70 series technology. That would be the perfect example of a toughest most reliable off road/overland worthy vehicle in American market. Don’t really need any of those bells and whistles in whatever road conditions you’re going.
Both have 3 difs, permanent 4x4 also on LC.The future 4 runner will probably do without center diff
There’s no front differential on these two cars.
Ya, no front locker. A-Trac only.
If price were no concern... I cannot justify $.60+ per gallon more for premium to tow a few hundred pounds more. And I don't tow anything. AND... this is all conjecture until the price and fuel economy are released for the Land Cruiser. I do have my heart set on a new Land Cruiser, but that GX is SEXY. My wife just got a 2024 NX350 and damn if that's not a nice car. But she won't put premium in it either. Are we the only people that think premium fuel in a non performance vehicle is ridiculous?
GX 550 overtrail + for me . Going beach camping, but need some luxury.
The Land Cruiser is hybrid only, and that sucks. If anyone wants one of these vehicles for the long haul, like 15 years, they will probably have a very expensive hybrid battery replacement. The GX550 seems better because of its powertrain and available tech. The number of trim levels in the GX 550 provides more options to fit the individual customer.
I did pricing for TLC and got a higher price than GX Premium trim. 😂
This will definitely be taking over trails leading to local shopping mall.
The new Land Cruiser seems to be fighting the Ford Bronco. We all ask for the Series 70 Land Cruiser, and now we have it. Cheap price, no bells and whistles.
If you guys really want to "up your game" you need to start putting your cars on a lift like Savage Geese does. It makes a huge difference to me.
I think y'all were confused about the Land Cruiser not being full time 4WD like the GX550. It is full time. They have the exact same drive train.
I like the GX550 for the Luxury and options. But the gas mileage is so much worst. CITY/HWY/COMB FUEL ECON15/21/17 mpg The hybrid land cruiser is 20% to 30% better with the fuel economy.
