Nice work by De La Hoya, but Camacho had obviously slowed in performance from his prime, and Oscar was at his best. I would love to have seen them go at it with both in their prime.

@@jimhabsfan Exactly yeah right? Beyond sad isn't it? Talk about something being ironic. Sometimes we are given clues in our lives right before our eyes and never pay attention until something bad happens eventually then it's too late like in the case of Hector. Just so sad and heartbreaking really it is. He had so much to offer the world besides his boxing skills as he was aging into retirement he could've given so much more than he did when he was a champion in his prime. I just think what he could've done (even more so) for the poor kids in Spanish Harlem and even for Spanish Harlem itself much less through out the world with the money he earned over the years in his excellent career as a boxer. Demons in your life will get you sooner or later if you allow it. Really miss THE MACHO MAN! :'( He'll always be #1 in my book.

Camacho was already way past his prime. The late 80s were his best years. He lasted 12 rds with a strong DLH. That's got to tell you something about the Macho Man status as a past champion.
he didint seem washed up at all. i think that if he would just have stopped to go backward the whole bout would have been diferent
Camacho' with 11 years more than d la Hoya, Great fighter and show man Camacho' RIP' ! 🙏🇵🇷💪🥊
He was 35. It’s like if Crawford fought Jaron Ennis. Definitely not way past his prime.
@@AlexLopez-wp8dc 1
@@juiceleethewarriorpoet prime is not an age thing, it's combination of various factors that all go or a few go such as slower reflexes, speed and footwork, ability to take a punch, snap on your punches aren't the same. There are fighters that are past their prime before they even hit 28. Only true, Real boxing fans know this.
That is so true my friend He never backed away from anyone I have A great respect for Hector Camacho
I’m not lying guys my dad grew up with Camacho when they were kids/young teens rip Camacho 😔💕
emmanual stewart is crazy. if oscar has been leading every single round then let him be moderately aggressive is enough. no need to push him to the limit. it only risk oscar tiring or making a mistake. not worth it. i think the best mid to late match strategy should be oscar being moderately aggressive.
Camacho is very strong, very hard put in the ko.
Tell that to Felix Trinidad
I Love Macho Camacho man....he is the image and sensation of....New York City
Very clean reception great camera shots and sifts
Obviously Hoya since the beginning. Age difference, height, reach, skills, more focused and disciplined?
Camacho didn't come to win - just to survive. Same as when faced Trinidad and Chavez. His only concern was to avoid getting stopped or KO'd.

@@tlig He did come to win he didn't have the punching power to keep naturally heaver fighters off him this guy started out as a featherweight and he wasn't the hardest hitter at that weight.despite what there saying in the commentary he was still the faster fighter but not fast enough to make up for the reach and power those guys had.

RIP Hector 'MACHO' Comacho!
Such a legendary fight.
Why? It was one-sided all the way through and Camacho didn't win a single round. He didn't deserve a share of a round either! As soon as Oscar hurt him, Camacho was in full-on survival mode and just wanted to last the distance.
Camacho invented the showman style of entering the ring.

The referee was an idiot. How many times you have to say the same warning .....you have to take a point. What a mess
This version has Dave Bontempo and Col. Bob on commentary, and they both do so as though they are there live at the fight. There is another version of this fight that has Dave Bontempo and Sean "The Champ" O'Grady doing commentary, and they do so as if they are live at the fight. Actually, at one point, in between rounds, they mention a bunch of ice being spilled by a cornerman and it lands on them. So which is live?
the one where the ice spills on them I imagine
Joliii ! 👏👌✊
Macho Man with the epic entrance
A lot easier said than done, but Hector seemed to be doing best when he'd move in & punch. I can't comprehend why, if he was gonna just paw with his jab, he didn't pack some snot into it, since it was likely that he'd be countered anyway.
probably to conserve cardio.
With a guy with a longer and faster jab i dont think so
He also was moving down weight at an older age and a time when he was fighting more at 160
Luckily Oscar didn’t box him this night would have been much worse to watch for Camacho fans he probably wouldn’t even touch Oscar at all

@@FloresRain oofff I don’t know man, when Floyd was @130-140 Floyd was a lot more dominant I feel if Oscar fought Floyd at 135 it would be similar to the corrales Mayweather fight.
