People need to understand Pacquiao jumped 3 weight classes for this fight, Enough said.
Dela hoya is his idol
Swedish American true
And DLH was a middleweight who weighed 147lbs on fight night. Manny would never fight DLH in equal weight.
Swedish American you’re dumb. DLH was dehydrated and it was seen in training camp. Him fighting at 130 most his career is not the same with he could obviously not make that weight anymore. That’s why nobody cares about this fight.

That was a very satisfying fight. Dela Hoya and Pacquiao are both amazing boxers.
Very satisfying, Oscar needed to learn his lesson
The pass couple years see pacquiao fight in his old age and retire.. come back and watch this in his pride..his speed and foot work..the way he move from side to side and how he duck those punches is amazing..

Loved that.
Dele Hoya was one of my favorite fight, he didn’t boast nor felt bad losing, he took it like a champ and Pac-Man was proud to have fought his idol. Didn’t matter who won it was a great battle!!!
Pacquiao strength is unbelievable
I really didn't see a battle.
Every man had his own time, and every time has its own man...
even before pacquiao’s prime all members of our family in the philippines are watching de la hoya’s fights.. never thought that one day pacquiao will be fighting this legend, such a beautiful memory witnessing the legacy of these fighters.

As a kid, I only went with the flow of how my family throws watch parties for Pacquiao fights. Rewatching all those fight back then, now as a boxing enthusiast, I can truly see just how special The PAC man is. Amazing display of talent, hard work and grit. From both
Manny was so active, quick and unorthodox. Those qualities made him one of the most dangerous fighters in history!
A prime pacman would easily defeat all the young welterweights today.
Thats why Floyd ducked a prime Pac

Chaotikz 88 also if we talking who would win a fight Floyd would beat manny anytime.... any weight that Floyd has fought in he’s much more skilled than manny Manny is only looked up at mainly because of his career don’t get me wrong he’s skilled but not comparable to mayweathers boxing skill
@@Kevin-zj9rn Floyd was also naturally bigger that Manny, not only his boxing skills but how he imposed his size on Manny made the difference but Pacquiao at least made it competitive despite fighting well above his weight class. The better question people should be asking is what would happen if we were to blow up Pacquiao to Mayweather size or shrink Mayweather down to the size of Pacquiao.

so trueeee hahahha I totally agree
Well, Buboy, his Filipino coach, pretty much echoes Roach's advice but translates it so that Manny understands better. Manny probably listens more to him because his English has never been great, particularly in the heat of a fight - it's Roach's advice but in a language he understand better.

This fight made me realize how fast Manny Pacquiao is. He’s both equally very quick on his feet and quick with his hands
Delahoya was past his prime. To drop to his knees before the body shot was thrown is something Oscar never did. There both Champs. Oscar got robbed vs Trinidad. he was schooling him. Oscar's weakness was if he could take hits in a brawl.

De la Hoya was weight drained. Thurman was coming back from injury and that's why Manny picked him. If he wants a true test he can fight Crawford or even Porter. Just a perfect passing of torch fight for oscar. No devastating knockout but rather just a beating showing Manny as truly the next golden boy of boxing. No shame in oscar too. He didn't get life threatening damage, just pure boxing man
This was around the time de la Hoya started being an alcoholic and did drugs. Probably because he was burned out from his last fight against may weather(which he should have won) You could tell he didn’t give not even half of what he had in this fight, he simply didn’t have it in him. This fight was the one that catapulted Manny Pacquiao to legendary status.
I would say after this fight: superstar. After Hatton fight: legend. After Cotto fight: all time great. In every broadcast of the Pacquiao vs Cotto fight, the announcers we're saying Pacquiao is one of the greatest fighters of all time when that fight finished. He challenged himself coming from a smaller weight class and totally destroyed other hall-of-fame caliber fighters. I'd put Pacquiao as the 2nd or 3rd greatest pound for pound fighter EVER, and you could even make a case for number 1. A former Flyweight winning linear titles in 8 divisions is absolutely insane- especially since he skipped a couple.
After the Hatton fight for me. I thought Hatton was too big at the time. Boy i was wrong. Many people thought Oscar was old at the time.

Freddie does not get enough credit for what he does behind the scenes. I defy anyone who says any other trainer can top what he does as far as strategizing and tactical analysis. The man, despite his advancing Parkinson's still has a sharp eye for the game.

Roach: he can't handle your speed son. Dela hoyas' corner: you're getting rekt son.
man... what i would give to be a fan in attendance for this fight.. the amount of energy in the arena is nothing like what we see in todays fights... Canelo's fight might be the closest to what we see here but even then Pacman's fight with Morales, Cotto, Hatton, and Margarito are on another level
You can compare Pacquiao's resume to any of the greats and it will always be impressive.
Pacquiao was already a big deal when he beat Barerra and Morales at the lower weight classes. Those guys were legends. Then when he beat Oscar.....Pacquiao became a household name.
And he made each one quit. Morales, I think, literally grew up in a boxing gym. Manny was great. Born fighter.
People talking too much about the 147 catchweight when pacquiao moved up 3 division to fight DLH. People just don't realize how difficult to move up in weights. Just look at Loma, Donaire, Garcia when they moved up.

It’s just so thrilling to witness this amazing performance again, looking back Pac-Man the way that he boxes and take risk going in rather than wait around afraid to get hit. He is the type of boxer that fight the fight like many of his Mexican opponents; namely Marquez, Margarita, Cotto and delà Hoya. When he fought Floyd, Floyd is a clever boxer doesn’t allow his opponent to outbox him but then again it is boring to watch. Most of Floyd’s bouts i tend to get sleepy, seriously its just not entertaining and dunno why he gets hundreds of million for a fight😒. Anyhow congrats Many!

This prime pacquiao was more elusive, head bobbing and moves a lot. Way too energetic and explosive. I still think he still got this. He's time is now cut due to being senator and other matters in his hand. He used to train all day everyday and spar for 36 rounds. Got all the time in the world full time focus in boxing. I guess it changes due to time constrain from the choices in his life.
