EP-131 | China-Tibet-Nehru Saga and The Escape of Dalai Lama With Lobsang Sangay

2024 ж. 14 Мам.
332 035 Рет қаралды

Lobsang Sangay served as the Tibetan Prime Minister in exile from 2011 to 2021. He is the first person without a monastic background to hold this position. He was born in 1968 in a refugee community in Darjeeling, India. Sangay earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Delhi. Later, he studied international law and democracy at Harvard University, eventually becoming an American citizen.
In the latest edition of the ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, Lobsang Sangay explains how China invaded Tibet and forced the 14th Dalai Lama to take refuge in India. He insists that for India to understand China, it must comprehend Tibet's situation. Sangay also describes Beijing as an expansionist country and details how Tibet sought India's assistance before China's invasion. He also sheds light on the role of Tibetans in the Indian Special Forces, taking on China.
Sangay recounts his parents' struggle for survival and their journey to seek refuge in India amid the Chinese occupation of Tibet. He speaks about China's overarching strategy to assert itself as the sole superpower and its tactics in claiming territories. He also predicts that, under Xi Jinping's rule, Taiwan is susceptible to a potential attack from China in 2024.

I think , China will have a war with its neighbours in the near future .. Be it Taiwan or India .. If china gets into a war with democracies.. Tibet and Xinjiang will be freed soon .....

Especially if our Visionary Leader Nehru had taken right decisions during the time of 1950s, We would never have had border disputes like Galwan, Doklam and Arunachal Pradesh.

    • Also, India would not have to spend billions of dollars' worth in border security infrastructure and defense expenditures since the 1960s. This is what you call Nehru's Himalayan blunder. All these money could have raised substantially the living standard of millions and millions of Indian citizens. Ah! that was not to be due to Nehru's fantasy of establishing a cordial relationship with the most deceitful CCP regime of Mao and Zhou.

    • It's not Nehru's fault that CCP won against the Chinese Nationalist Party. Or, do you suggest that Nehru funded CCP? 😅 CCP occupied Xinjiang and Tibet after defeating the Chinese Nationalist Party. Had the CCP lost, Tibet would've been our neighbour. Otherwise, there's nothing anyone could do. BTW, regarding border disputes, yes, that could've been prevented with far better policies. But, preventing Tibet from getting occupied was impossible.

    • @@wasim.ahmd. America goes half the way around the world to Afghanistan to secure its border from the terrorists and what a joke or a stupidity; Nehru almost brought enemy to its door by ignoring the importance of Tibet as its buffer state in spite of pleas from Sardar Patel. On top of this Nehru facilitated China by allowing importation of provisions from India for the Chinese occupying forces in Tibet.

    • @@user-zg3kp5in7w Lol. India was just 1-2 years old when Tibet invasion happened. India could just focus on its internal issues. Annexation of Hyderabad, Junagarh, etc. happened during that period. You want Nehru to focus on the external issues rather than what's within the Indian territory itself? 🤣🤣🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ Your reasoning makes you a genius. Anyways, you're comparing India of 1947-49 with that of US invasion of Afghanistan. This is the most illiterate comprehension of international geopolitics I've ever come across. Even during the post WWII period (1944-49), the US was around 150+ years old country. India wasn't even 1.5+ years old. And, India was a much weaker country with so many states combined together to form one nation. For the first time, India had Tamil Nadu and the NE being the parts of the same entity. All these weren't easy to handle. It took time. Now, had Nehru focussed on Tibet instead of what was happening within the country, you guys would've called him stupid not strengthening the country and instead focussing on a foreign war. Don't be stup*d. Use your brain and logic if you really have them. I rest my case here.

    • Thank him for lying? 0:10 , 'China killed around a million Tibetants'?? When the PRC conducted it's first Census in 1953-1954, Mr Dalai Lama submitted for Tibet the figure of 1.27 million to the central government in Beijing, he later went into exile with 80,000 of them in 1959. I wonder where you get your ‘China killed around a million Tibetans' information from? That figure of 1.27 million was given by the dalai lama himself in 1950s, when he was still in good terms with the central government in Beijing, if he thought the figure was wrong, he could have corrected it and submitted another figure and Beijing would have accepted the new figure, but he didn't. In fact if he now thinks that figure was not right he can still object now, but his holiness is quiet about it for more than half a century. He is now living in the so call 'free world', you can reach him easily to ask him if you want, and when you see him ask also how he got appointed by the central government in Chongqing as the 14th Dalai Lama in 1940, search the web for "གསེར་བུམ་སྐྲུག་པ" and read for yourself.

    • He is a lier, 0:10 , 'China killed around a million Tibetants'??

    • He is an lier, 0:10 , 'China killed around a million Tibetants'?? He is now living in the so call 'free world', you can reach him easily to ask him if you want, and when you see him ask also how he got appointed by the central government in Chongqing as the 14th Dalai Lama in 1940. search the web for "གསེར་བུམ་སྐྲུག་པ" and read for yourself.

  • Tibetian philosophy of Buddhism is learnt all over the world and very rich though lived with another more intellectual Advaithist philosophy. But nevertheless no fight between them.

  • For common citizens to understand , imagine Indo nepal border which is open, unguarded & most not strictly demarcated Becomes Chino- India border !! Not only this will become extremely disturbed, disputed but about 50 km land along Bihar, Bangal, UP , & utterakhand shall get militarised not livable for common citizens. , all of rivers coming from Nepal would get controlled ....
