Honda Civic Type R v Toyota GR Yaris: DRAG RACE

2023 ж. 5 Сәу.

It’s time for a Japanese hot hatch showdown!
We’ve got Yianni in the new Civic Type R, and he’s facing off against Mat in the GR Yaris!
So let’s see how these two compare. Starting with the Type R, it’s powered by a 2-litre turbo petrol that can deliver 329hp and 420Nm of torque. It drives the front wheels via a manual gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,429kg.
Then we have the GR Yaris. It’s equipped with a 1.6-litre 3-cylinder turbo that can put down 261hp and 360Nm. Just like the Type R, it’s a manual, and it tips the scales at 1,280kg. However, it has one key advantage over the Type R - it’s four-wheel drive!
Does this mean it’ll be a clean sweep for the GR Yaris? Or will the additional power of the Type R push it to victory? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

    • @@kobedabest That's easy to answer: The flywheel is `8 percent lighter. The turbo lag issue is fixed with the simplest change, a smaller turbo. The rev hang problem with the FK8 is nonexistent. The cooling is vastly improved not only by a revised intercooler but a vent that makes sense. The power and torque curves are nearly identical to the previous Type R up until about 2600 RPMs where it jumps up 9 horsepower and 15 lb-ft. I could go on. All of these components require the slightest tweaks to the K20C1 to make it better. The downside being its stance and weight that makes it bad for drag racing out the door.
