HyperX Alloy Origins Review - Are These NEW Switches Worth It?

The new HyperX Alloy Origins is the first gaming keyboard to use the new HyperX Red Linear switches. But does that make it different or just another gaming keyboard in a market that's completely flooded?

    • They really need to do somehting to standout. The quality of their keycaps is really bad, the prices are high compared to the competiton and not mention that in 4 years they never had the idea of putting rubber feets on the feets that adjust the height of the keyboard which is not ok for keyboards that cost more than 100$

  • My HyperX Alloy Elite with Cherry MX Brown switches has been quite reliable and feels better to type and game on compared to many other MX Brown keyboards even compared to Corsair. The space bar is quite solid and the steel plank gives the board a sturdy feel without any pinging. I've replaced the stock keys with HyperX's own PBT doubleshot keycaps and thanks to their use of standard sized keys, I can replace them with keycaps found elsewhere. I would love to give their Origins with Aqua Switches a try as I'm more into tactile switches than linears.

  • Just from the sound test alone, the HyperX switches sound a lot less scratchy and quieter than MX Reds, which I can see why you are comparing them more with Gateron. Based on that, they are quieter. That Varmilo board though...that spacebar has THOCC...I love it.

  • I think the keyboards sound different not so much because of difference in the switches. but because of how they were constructed: with plastic and sheet metal. The construction of the space bar's stabiliser also matters: if the bar is just a little bit to thin, it rattles more.

    @FindecanorNotGmail@FindecanorNotGmail4 жыл бұрын

  • I just bought this keyboard a few days ago and I'm loving it. I wanted a full size keyboard without any other fuss like separate media controls, macros or profiles. As discussed inteh video, the build quality is super solid, there is no flex at all. However, understand the keyboard is not that light if that's what you're after. Overall this was exactly what I was looking for, a really solidly built, long-lasting keyboard that is full size but compact with no fuss. Definitely recommend it if you're after something similar. My other choices would've been the CoolerMaster MK750 which also has the wrist rest which is great.

  • 6:17 to 7:06 can you make a video with the key sound vid a little more in-depth, as an example, you had a firm single press on the linear but then light fast clicks for the other 2. So the same movement for all three keyboards would be nice. Also as a possible extra add some rubber o ring for keyboards and see if that makes the less high pitch clack and quieter hard to notice thuds. I want the quietest keyboard, that also doesn't make high pitch sounds, they distract me.

The one problem is that the normal version is jut old, you cant stack more than 2 effect and you dont have that many lighting effects. I have Hyperx Alloy Elite RGB and for me the beta version software(same as you used) has just stopped working. First problem i had was that the software assumed i had big enter so it didnt lit one switch, second when i made rgb effect and closed the software it wont saved and just loaded the first effect that was saved on the keyboard and third, after two days the beta software stopped showing my keyboard.

  • switch housing being red and not transparent is a deal breaker for me I was really looking to get this but damn, that sounds like a small issue but its not It basically halves the color options because any light color that doesn't have a red accent is gonna look weird

    • I was between this and the Elite 2, but as someone who will have the RGB set to static, it worries me that some colours will look weird. Hmmmm. Any recommendations for a mech keyboard that is very similar, but doesn't that that issue?

      @deadmanwalking1930@deadmanwalking19302 жыл бұрын
    • @@deadmanwalking1930 unfortunately can't give you a proper recommendation cuz I don't have that much experience with mech keyboards. I ended up getting the asus tuf k3 and it's been perfect so far but I know that some people aren't so fond of their products so idk. I'm actually really satisfied with their stuff so I got the tuf 3 set so the m3 mouse p3 mouse pad and k3 keyboard. Planning on getting the h3 headset later this year to complete the set. But yea, I recommend asus but I'm definitely biased.

    @HellishPumpkin@HellishPumpkin4 жыл бұрын
    • im choosing between the hyperX keyboards too. i mainly play FPS games and i prefer red switches so i recommend Alloy Origins or even Alloy FPS(none RGB). Alloy FPS RGB has silver speed switches which make me feel like i could misclick the key very easily, but if you like silver speed switches then definitely go for it.

  • In order to completely transfer the changes to the keyboard, while the program is open, go to Task Manager in Windows and kill the HyperX software process. *If the process is not there, open the program again, go back to Task Manager and close the process.

  • The aqua is a tactile switch, so it's more of a variable of cherry mx browns, not blues. I recently got the tkl version of this keyboard, which is cheaper lmao, with the aqua switches, and it's really nice. They feel a lot better IMO than mx browns.
