    • Google Glass was an infinitely better form factor for "AR" (augmented reality). I don't know why all these companies are using VR (enveloping your entire field of view) form factors for AR. It's like they don't care about everyone around you, which is the key difference between VR and AR.

    • Totally agree, but this level of image quality and eye tracking is, at least for now, impossible with simple AR. If you've ever tried to use a projector to watch a movie during the day you'll know why - you have to block the light out in order for things to look this bright and sharp.

  • During the ecosystem section 12:31, i think one of the things that can be done to mitigate having to look at objects while using the virtual display for the Mac, is for there to be a "turn off eye tracking" option. Since all the controls (Keyboard and mouse) still works, being able to turn off eye tracking while working in passthrough mode should be an option for the user.

  • Thank you for this demonstration. It was very well done. What I have been looking to see is how I can zoom in and out. I am legally blind and use the Zoom feature on my iMac and MacBook. I really would like to see if/how the Zoom feature can help me read text within the windows and also text on a wall in the room or signage such as the name on a store or the text on a street sign. Please consider demonstrating this feature if it exists on the Apple Vision Pro. On iMac and MacBook, the Zoom feature I use can be turned on as follows: Settings >> Accessibility >> Zoom >> Toggle On "Use scroll gesture with modifier keys to zoom" >> Leave "Modifier key for scroll gesture" set to the default "Control" key >> Set Zoom style to "Full Screen". Obviously, if I could use this feature in the Apple Vision Pro, I could have full access to the environment around me. So please, if you could, I know for a fact there are thousands of people who would greatly appreciate the demonstration.

    • You would obviously need a very complex and extensive app built specifically for that. An app that does not exist and won't exist for a very long time. There are some engineering apps used on hololense/2, but they are commercial-spec for extremely specific learning environments. Overall, you are thinking of more of a science fiction device, that may exist in a decade or so. But I highly doubt it with personal vehicles heading fast into not being able to be modded or repaired by an owner. AR/XR-overlay tech is many years away from being viable in a consumer environment.

      @evolicious@evolicious2 ай бұрын
    • @@Kevin-fj5oe You mean microsoft hololense/2. FYI, just about everyone has dropped them becasue of how janky they are, and the apps are just not supported due to the extremely low demand for the product and it's almost non-existent marketshare. Google glasses were a conceptual AR device that was DOA, and google killed the entire program just weeks into it's beta release. It was a terrible product.

I’m so excited about how it is now though it’s so historic 🔥🔥💯

  • Marques, hear me out… combine LLM image generation with a feature specifically for environment immersion on Apple Vision Pro. You just talk to the device and it creates the scene for you. (Example: put me on top of Mount Everest. Now add some stormy weather. Now add the sound effects that would apply for this scene.) That would be a banger feature. Custom Scenes.

    • That's a different thing, the stuff around glasses is still an image, it's just blurrier. FOV in VR goggles is just darkness, it's a huge thing in VR. Some really expensive goggles (like, double or triple the vision pro's price) have incredible field of view that almost covers all of your vision, but in general bigger is better, and it makes a world of difference. For a first gen it's ok that they focus on other things though.

      @FAB1150@FAB11502 ай бұрын
    • if the FOV is worse than quest 3, it's basically like wearing a toilet paper roll in front of your eyes. You cannot talk about the FOV if you haven't at least tried some other VR headsets. I didn't upgrade my quest 2 to quest 3 cuz the FOV change is so small, if apple vision pro is worse than that, it's not good.
