  • It cracks me up that Crispin did this for years. He never tries to promote anything really, he just sits there trolling Letterman.

    @DrMcMoist@DrMcMoist8 жыл бұрын
    • +DrMcMoist yup, its brilliant. Letterman is excellent trollbait because he has a monster ego, and loves getting an opportunity to belittle people. Over the years, Crispin has created a wonderfully weird, real-life story starring himself and letterman.

    • Crispin is not capable of trolling. If you can't see the neuroticism and strangeness, not trolling, you might be a fellow neurotic weirdo.

      @noahmcdx1@noahmcdx16 жыл бұрын
    • The key point there is he is not aware of the impression it gives to the observers. Whatever he thinks he's doing, people just think he's a weirdo. That's the point. That's not really the objective of trolling.

      @noahmcdx1@noahmcdx16 жыл бұрын
    • In my opinion Letterman is trolling Crispin because he rhetorically brings up their first interview and causes the current interview to go eschew

      @brianmetcalf7188@brianmetcalf71886 жыл бұрын
    • he's clearly neurotic and odd, also has a 155 IQ, he's trolled Letterman for years, look at his second appearance, brilliant manipulation on his part. He knows Letterman will mention the initial interview then pretends to divert and plugs his album, Letterman pushes the issue and Crispen is intentionally obtuse to force Letterman to go back to a plug for the album, he owned him, it's a game for Crispen, another opportunity to play a character and manipulate people's perception.

      @gedd74@gedd746 жыл бұрын
  • Tom Wilson, aka "Biff", summed up Mister Glover perfectly... "Crispin Glover is a nice guy, he's not nearly as strange and odd as he leads you to believe". Gold!

    • The joke is on Biff. Anyone who has gotten a chance to hang out with Crispin apart from showbiz can tell you he is even weirder, more awkward, and unsettled deep down. It actually sucks because his issues deprived us of a great actor who could have continued doing superb work in great films for as long as he lived. His issues are not an act and his becoming a Hollywood bottom-feeder is not some kind of hipster triumph. Andy Kaufman, on the other hand, was perfectly calculating and intentionally doing things to F with people. Crispin seemed to think he was that, but he was not that. Fortunately, it looks like he might finally be getting the help he always needed, so fingers crossed.

    • @@carlodave9 Very interesting, I certainly wish him well🙏. The only reason I thought "Biff" was on to something is because I watched the director's commentary on the movie Willard. Mister Glover spoke completely out of character and was articulate, precise and extremely knowledgeable regarding the matters he spoke of. Indeed worth checking out. Cheers.

    • He certainly can be both. People like him are very insightful, inquisitive, and speak quite eloquently. It depends on the atmosphere and topics. A calmer environment without a loud clapping audience and a concentrated topic (like discussing his character in Willard) bring these things out in him. Great way of putting that all together!

  • Listen folks, Crispin Glover is one of those naturally odd or unusual thespian types, but he's definitely a sincere and honest guy. The mainstream media really love to pick on him since it's easy to insult him and play it off as light humor and good entertainment for the audiences/viewers. So each time they bring him out (Letterman, Conan, etc), he's always insulted and persecuted in all the comedic forms you can do on someone in comedic form for entertainment value for the viewers. But the reality is, he's a sincere person, but he's too odd for the mainstream, and so they keep him and treat him as such. Crispin's a cool guy but we live in a cruel and judging world. It's good to know that people can all be different and not have to be cookie-cutter conformed people the mainstream media tries to make us all be for their benefit.

This dance, apparently, is the one he was doing when Joseph Zito saw him in a club and knew he wanted him from the role. Zito also stated to the writers not to get mad because he won't recite the words as they're written, and rather will be said in his own words and as he interprets them.

    • +Hua Mulan Yes he is like this in real life, Lea Thompson said that for him to get in to his role, he invited her to his all black apartment (all black furniture, walls everything) to paint a volcano. I think he may have a disability such as Dyspraxia. The social awkwardness and ability to process information would explain it.

  • Here's why Crispin Glover is a genius. First off the Letterman Show is based on Letterman, Paul & the Band and the Studio and Viewing Audiences being in on the joke BUTTTTT the guest is in actuality THE JOKE. Glover uses his underrated talent to shift the target on to the Host HENCE making Dave the Ultimate JOKE. Brillant! Only Andy Kaufman and Harvey Pekar have been able to do that.

    • Kaufman didn't make Dave the target. Dave has an ego, also... its might be due to the personality on display. Glover presented himself as a weak man. This allows other men to subconsciously feel more dominant. This is the psychology im picking up after watching all his interviews. The fact that Dave for 3 straight interviews tries to insist Glover intended to kick him and get an apology shows how fragile his ego is.

      @hugheggs@hugheggs3 жыл бұрын
    • Dave fell for it the first time and left from the kick and was obviously called a stupid coward for doing so, because it wasn’t real. The only way to make that not be true is for the kick to have been really close and real enough to warrant running away from. Alternatively he wants to force glover to admit what was real and not about that appearance when the fun was no knowing, glover wants control over that and Dave wants control of it too.

And judging by the now 72k views, they obviously have. Unlike some people, I don't live and die by KZhead videos. I have a life that exists in the real world, not online, so you must pardon me if I didn't bust out a preamp and an equalizer to post a simple Letterman clip. • More that he’s annoyed Crispin won’t answer him and just rambles randomly, and he’s trying to teach him to have a proper repartee badinage because you have to give and take to get by but some people either can’t or won’t. It’s sorta funny but it’s too much in some cases like Kaufman and Glover to where it’s just not that funny because you see what they’re doing too obviously and it’s annoying too often. Eric Andre is better because he’ll push it to and passed the limits but he can always come back to reality and show some small deference so it’s a win-win, like he gets that there needs to be a line at some point. Howard Stern does it in a less artful way and less funny way , Dave I like better but his ego can get annoying too (I’d say Dave is even funnier now as an old dude and Howard has become unfunny as fuck).

  • I don’t understand why Letterman kept bringing him back and trying to get him to talk about it. You can tell he’s annoyed that he can’t get answers about it. So why keep trying? It’s obvious Glover has no intention of ever giving straight answers about that incident, so don’t bother trying and certainly don’t get annoyed when he won’t comply.

    • All these people saying Dave had no clue. Do they realize talk show hosts before the show pop into the green room and touch base on questions, setting up jokes and playing off an in character actor.

  • So letterman invites Crispin on in 87- the kaufman aguement will go on forever- and then repeatedly invites him back over the next twenty years to go over and over the initial debacle -whilst Crispin fails to enlightened us any further or even answer anything. Rather, he frustratingly sits laughing,fidgeting and rambling and people put It down to his 'genius'. Im not convinced. I think he gets too much credit and hr actually just is a.socially awkward person.
