I lucky enough to get tickets to Letterman this particular night. I was on vacation in New York City to see the Rocky horror picture show live on Broadway! Starring Joan. Chad and Dick cavett and a fantastic troop of players. And I just happened to manage to nail tickets to Letterman which they record at 6:00 p.m. or they did at that time and it left just enough time to grab a drink afterward and make my way to the theater. It was the spectacular evening. I didn't know at the time that Madonna was going to be on Letterman that night. I just booked tickets because I was able to get in and I thought it would be fun. During the commercial breaks she was hilarious. Her and David went back and forth and it was just so much fun that entire evening was busy and just absolutely as much fun as you could have in your life seeing Madonna and then Rocky horror live on Broadway and then going out to a few bars. What a wonderful night!

Watching Madonna on the David Letterman Show over the years has always been fascinating. The back and forth banter and interaction between them is full of wit and is really funny. Letterman likes to bait her to talk about personal stuff and controversies but she’s learned from previous experience how to parry them and turn the questions back at him. But through it all, they appear to have developed a genuine respect and appreciation of each other. No nastiness or crudeness here, just two intelligent people entertaining their audience. Madonna was gracious and Letterman obliged her.

But somehow, dressing as a cheerleader and desperately trying to kiss the next big pop stars (be them of either sex) and trying to pin down the next fad before it's out of date appeals to her more. Madonna will always be the Queen of Pop - there are just so many of us out there that hope she can actually regain her throne again before she completes her transformation into Norma Desmond. I agree, I've been following her since the eighties and the early 2000s she looked and sounded gorgeous 🔥 I watch the confessions concert at least once every couple of months 😁
This is what aging gracefully looks like
@@jessejameslatimer8686 She certainly is not aging gracefully now.
@@citygirl5705 she starting going too far with the surgeries in 2008 or 2009. In her 40s she had her chance to age gracefully
Oh my gaaaaawd! I wish I was there with you. I love Madonna and The Rocky horror picture Show. Lucky you❤❤❤
The way she just sees through his shit the whole time, inspiring man
Seriously. Madonna did not come to play
Madonna all seeing Lord of seeing through his shit.
I miss this Madonna.♥️
What a treat to see Madonna play acoustic guitar and accompany on vocals
You can debate about Madonna all day, but the bottom line is the key to her success has always been her ability to craft memorable pop songs.
She doesn't "craft" them, there are writers and producers etc. She performs the songs.
@@cappsginny699 You know what everyone just loves? People pontificating in the comments section on KZhead.
@capps ginny you don’t even know what you’re talking about. Madonna writes her music along with other another writer or 2 and she’s a co producer on every track??? So yes she does craft her music. Where did you get the idea that she didn’t? Lmao
@capps ginny also Madonna knows how to read music, not every famous musician knows how to
@@hutch1197 you're here pontificating. Dibt be a hypocrite.

This performance must have been nerve wrecking for Madonna... She obviously felt vulnerable and insecure, albeit she did it! Pure and uncut, I love and miss this Madonna
She was so nervous, it was beautiful
Nerve “wracking”
I’ve never heard this acoustic version - just raw talent: Voice, guitar playing, songwriting - impressive and simple at the same time. Great lyrics, too ✨
Your average 12 year old can outdo that mediiocre performance
Whoever said madonna couldn’t sing? Madonna’s good at all parts of the biz. Love it.
Loved her in Evita! Multi-talented icon..
Seriously, can't sing? She's one of the most incredible voices, when factoring in technical range, to ever exist.
She's playing C G Am and D. That is not rocket science. And she sings flat. Her strength is in dance.
@@ChatGPT1111rubbish. Check your hearing.

Her acoustic performance was great, I loved it!
I wish more of these artists would do acoustic stuff. I Once heard Jon bon Jovi do a Mellow acoustic version of their songs without all the loud guitars. It was so amazingly beautiful, I had to stop and rewind and replay... couldn't believe what I just heard thinking 'hmm. I would buy that Jon bon Jovi rendition if it t were a record." I can seriously respect this madonna performance, shes singing and playing guitar with no back up! That's unheard of these days, she sounds great
…& no autotune
She was so nervous. Amazing
No back up? There’s literally a guy playing the guitar right next to her backing her up. And honestly, I love Madonna but let’s be honest, her guitar playing is elementary school at best.
@@Kick_Rocks_ she did say she just learned, and I play guitar myself it's very hard to sing and play at the same time, it doesnt come natrually.. and yes I see the guy next to her, she has no band, no guy on a keyboard controlling everything

i love how Madonna's personality changes with each album ( she just evolves -grows) and i guess so do we All :)!
YASS! 💕
Yea but I like them better together wen their rude and uncut......raw
Absolutely!! And Letterman loves the challenge lmao
This woman is the walking, talking definition of cool. Nobody intimidates her. Fuckin love it.
And that right there is why people either love her and idolise her or why they get irritated and are intimidated by her... she brakes all rules in my opinion but in a fun art controversial and thought provoking way
She is truly beyond definition ... best I can muster is BLOODY BRILLANT ... may we add "timeless"
She is always a few steps ahead of the interviewer. Madonna speaks in a genuine & authentic manner without being phony or BS.
She has a mediocre singing voice.
You are so correct, she always has been and always will be.
I've watched this interview so many times over the years. I still think it is one of the best she's done. Madonna went from here to Ray of Light to Confessions. She looked and dressed fantastically. She was living in London with Guy and her style became more subdued and European chic. Far and away my favourite Madonna period.
Ray of Light and Music era were her ABSOLUTE best!!!!
Ray of light was before music
So glad to be seeing her for my third time in Berlin😊
She is so Full of Innocence, Wits , Creativity and Life! Gosh!! I only knew her through her song "Frozen" and nothing before or after that song! But looks like missed such Diva!!! Mind Blowing!!!
Say what you want, she has smarts & talent. She choreographed much of her own shows.
I've watched several Madonna videos today...I never knew she was so giggly. She has a wonderful full laugh, and it's very infectious! I laughed too.
Ray of light / Music era was the best! 2 Of the most iconic, legendary albums of all time back to back!!!
Absolutely. "Ray of Light" was the version of an older, wiser Madonna we deserve. If only she'd kept on that path. No - wait! Maybe Baby Jane Hudson is a better fit.
@@giggles7179 Madonna quite literally has 39 million active listeners on Spotify and 84 arena concerts starting next month. Do you have any idea how stupid comments like this make you look?
What a great interview..and beautiful song with acoustic guitar! Probably the most vulnerable I've ever seen Madonna, in the best way possible. 💖

I want this Madonna back 💔
This clip shows why she's been so successful and lasted so long. She has musical talent and the ability to write and perform a memorable song.
If she was unknown and did this performance no one would be impressed, at all!
No... this shows that she's really a poor interview when someone else is pushing HER buttons. She used to try and rock Dave with controversy and conflict early on. Here Dave made her uncomfortable and she couldn't deal with it. She seems embarrassed the entire time.
She didn’t write that song
@@jackaction23 yes, she did. After her brother-in-law wrote the song originally she wrote the vocal melody, and her and her collaborator redid the music and production. All of that is writing.

I get such a kick out of her. She’s so confident!!
It's difficult to express just how amazing Maddona is here singing and playing guitar at the same time.
Oh for goodness sake, teenagers do that after 6 lessons. Come on!!!

Her voice isn't spectacular like other singers but it's massively iconic. I hear it and it's unmistakable and conjures up my time as a young person in the 80s and how iconic she was to the Era and for women.
You know, I wouldn't knock her voice or her vocals too much. Her musicianship including her voice ain't too shabby pal.
WTF are you talking about isn't spectacular??? She is one of very few who are super talented because she is the top vocalist of all time. She didn't have a band here and she pulled off playing a guitar and sang beautifully.
minimizing madonna is like some kind of weird social disorder
Everybody got sassy with you but you're not completely wrong lol. I think people forget her ballads though. She hardly makes them anymore so I think we all have a tendency to think of her as only making top tier pop and dance music when she actually has a great collection of ballads where her voice is spectacular.
I don't tend to find the people other people consider spectacular vocally to be spectacular. Give me Madonna any day
I love that song and the guitar playing was perfect. She sang it like a true Rockstar.
Wow Madonna can sing! I LOVE HER!! Didn't care how she pulled it off. This is one of my favorite songs of hers. Adore this version. Now I have to go watch the video, which is awesome probably why I love the song so much. Was living in Vegas, had a break 💔 up. Seeing her kick up dirt and men worshipping her(when I had TONS of attention too) I loved her fighting for love. Best interview with her I've ever seen.
Madonna was her most beautiful from 1999 to 2006. She looks so gorgeous here. I wish she would have just aged natural. She would have looked SOOO amazing just aging normal. But I love her song "tell me love isn't true" and also "musicccc". I can't remember the names to those songs but late 90s and early 2000s Madonna was the best! She looks beautiful with minimal make up and blonde hair.
ray of light was her best work. She should age gracefully.
More like 1998-2008
She has had alot of work before and during that 'natural' time. I guess she became blind to what 'normal' looks like.
@@Jenniforest I think plastic surgery is like a lot of rackets. They claim they're fixing you but they mess something up every time they touch you. Then they claim you have to keep coming back so that they can eventually get you all fixed, which never happens.

Go listen to her "Music" album from 2000. Its literally just as relevant sounding today as then, its amazing how forward thinking she is
I liked her so much better when she was this age at this time in her life she was personable and funny and lighthearted.
She sings live and without the backup singers…and the rawness of her voice sounds good!
She was on the right track to get older in style: Look, outfit, hair and makeup, body and most importantly the music was on point. And then Hard Candy and 5 other albums and surgeries happened!
She is a fighter, fighting the natural process of getting older. She doesn’t want to give up, slow down cause her soul is still vibrant and young:)
So your problem is that an artist kept creating art?
I love that she kept the guitarist even till now, he is also amazing musician
I can watch her talking whole day. She is absolutely charming and amazing.
I think this was Madonna's cutest stage in her life - cant get much more than this.

She would see she’s just as free spirited, hardworking, and determined and true to her self as always. She’s never cared what people think since the start of her career and that hasn’t changed. She’s continued to change and evolve but stay true to her own self at the same time. Just because she had work done and incorporates trendy artists in her music now doesn’t change that.
@@lukeroberts6759👍🏼
She’s fed up of being asked questions that people ask her just because she’s a woman. She has a career and that’s why she’s there, so she wants to be asked about that, rather than motherhood and patronising questions that people don’t ask men.
"I want to make it nice for her." "Is his name Kenny?"
