About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK and Escape to rural France to restore this beautiful building to its former glory.

I was an owner of a private preschool and I can tell you that any dime donated is hugely welcomed. The cost of keeping things fresh, in working order, replacing and purchasing new toys, plus equipment is enormous. The classrooms at Johnathan's school looks great. I know from experience it boosts the moral for teachers and kids alike. Bless you for making a change for others.
My mother taught primary school for 42 years from 1957-1999. Her first teaching position at 19 was a four room school house outside Dayton Ohio, named Vandalia. She taught everything from kindergarten to 8th grade (pre American high school), in that 42 years. She would’ve been delighted to hear of a family helping out a school. So many children in North America don’t have sufficient school supplies, food for the weekend to eat or, ability to learn about technology simply because the cost of living has risen so high while wages haven’t been raised in over 30 years. She volunteered in both a fall winter clothing outfitting non profit in Michigan, as well as a program called Blessings in a Backpack. Both programs make sure kids have what they need to attend school, including food for the family to eat over the weekend for students who obtain breakfast and lunch at school for no cost. Thank you for taking on a school. It means so much to teachers and students.
The school looks good and that new roof will be a game changer. The school is lucky to have your support
Congratulations on the difference you've made at Jonathan's school! It's so important that children feel cherished in their community and happy to go to school. Good on all of you! Protect your backs, lift with your legs & bottom, not your back. Looks great.
Yes! Thank you!
Fantastic!
It was so heartwarming to see the children enjoining their new classrooms, and the little trooper Jonathan sat at the computer 😍 That was a mammoth task organising those Rocks into a giant rockery, your imagination knows no bounds. Chalets in such a lovely setting, how nice ❤
Thanks Cheryl 🥰🥰
Patrick in all his glory, Let's dig!!!! 💚💛💚
So glad you showed the school improvement. Wonderful, just wonderful!!
Thank you so much! ☺️
Hi just wanted to introduce myself. I am from Newfoundland Canada 🇨🇦. I’m 64 years old and just recently came across your channel. I am really enjoying the renovations to the Chateau. I am currently catching up from the beginning.
The Chateau & the grounds are looking so good but the school work done for the kids just warms my heart & brings tears to my eyes. God will bless you all 10 fold for it. That's a promise from him.
I love your long term plans!! I am now slightly disabled after a stroke and can’t manage my home anymore alone….I still have a young heart and dream of designing a small separate home facility of maybe 10 smaller units …specifically designed for manageability by the owner but having small managerial oversight staff …wouldn’t that be just peachy??? Instead of the institutional country club facilities that are glorified hospital suites and take all the elderly tenants paying most of their savings for assistance!!! $500,000 is a crime here in the states in this new niche market!!! Where is the humanity in this??? Bravo!!! You are the good guys!!❤as a retired Kindergarten teacher ! Kudos!! Nothing like a safe, colorful classrooms for the children!!!❤
😳😳 thanks Claire 🥰🥰

Yes , totally agree Claire, ! ❤
Hugs, Claire!

And the school looks amazing - a community school where all the locals can make friends for life. Beautiful
The school looks so fresh and happy! It must make you feel so proud to know you and others made it happen. Moving rocks is such a back breaker! I'm sure you are glad to see the back of it!
Thanks Terry
I certainly understand designing maintenance free or less maintenance areas. The work and toll the work takes in all your bodies will be worth it in the future. Bless you all. You need some HELP! Beautiful area of the estate. The school has been blessed by your family moving into the village! WOW Ashley, you are a treasure in front of the camera. Your explanations are invaluable and well presented, clear and precise.
Thank you 🙏 😊
Terry must have planned this "just" a job! 😊
The Little Engines that could and do. You are all so amazing. Loved seeing Johnathan's school and the improvements. You must be very proud to be a part of this.🧡🧡🧡
Thank you all!
Thanks Melanie 🥰
The school . What a wonderful thing you all did !
Thank you 🥰🥰
The school looks wonderful! What a big change. Happy environment makes happy kids 😊
It is wonderful to see the revitalization of the chateau spilling over and aiding the community writ large...
I didn’t realize that “the secret garden” was so large! Great job done. As much as I adore the chateau - staying in one of your future chalets with the LaLacelle birds. That sounds like heaven to me. ❤️ Jonathan looks so proud of his school and all the new work done. Makes my heart sing.
The school is very kind to allow us a glimpse ! Thankyou ! So much hard work , it looks fantastic. ❤
Thanks Sam 🥰
God bless you and everyone who donated to the school project…so special😊❤️🙏🏼
So glad to see school. Thank you all so much for
Thank you 🙏 😊
Wow, that is a lot of work! You guys are such hard workers. That is a good idea for an area that is hard to mow. I do love seeing the random chicken and dog " helping ". Our chickens and dogs always help us too.
Haha. That’s the norm 😂😂
I love that you're thinking ahead for easier ground maintenance and a car park out of the front entry area. While seeing all the rocks being moved by the tractor, and panning of the camera past the concrete block wall it occured to me that it's sad they're using up all those rocks to cover the sloped bank instead of recladding the concrete wall. So I was happy to hear Ashley refer to future plans for recladding the exterior garden wall later on. You must have more rocks stashed away in reserve! The eventual restored historical look of that wall with the top of the château seen above and beyond it, plus the view into the secret garden and the distant horizon will be a very pleasant, magical view into the scenes of a bygone era that your future cabin or chalet guests will experience. Have you considered utilizing volunteer labor to help reclad the exterior garden wall with your rocks? I think it would be a very exciting experience to learn that skill and realize that you as a volunteer helped restore such a significant element of this historical property. When completed, it will absolutely enhance the historocity of your estate and the pleasant view for those staying as your future guests. I so admire all that you as a hardworking, talented, visionary family have so passionately accomplished so far in bringing Château de Lalacele back to life! Bravo! From an avid follower from the beginning. ❤
What a joy it is to see the smiles on the children's faces and the work that has been done to renovate their classrooms. What you have done for Jonathan and his school community is very heart warming. This is of great benefit to their education. Well Done!! As always, the chateau is progressing beautifully. xx
Maybe use excess stones to clad the exterior of the chalets? Would give them a lot of charm?
This family has a complement of skill sets that is so valuable! Keep dreaming and creating a new reality!!!
The rock garden is huge ! Once everything grows it will be just stunning!
How absolutely wonderful for Wanda!
How heartwarming the school makeover worked out so well!!
Compleyely over the moon. My biggest wish comes true
That was a brilliant idea putting all of those rocks on that slope as it is really wasted space. It makes it look very intentional and neat. Having some plants scattered about also looks really good.. Looks amazing, well done you lot!!
I suppose asking if you're 'stoned' yet is a bit corny but, the amount of heavy work you've all done is just amazing. Well done everyone, that area is going to be fantastic. The School, thanks for the update, it looks so much better now, not just for all the kids but also for the teachers. A beautiful and comfortable environment always helps to encourage learning. It's also good that the huge donation raised with the help of everyone who follows the channel encouraged a positive response from the diocese as well. Brilliant to see such enthusiasm from the kids and still more to come. Now find yourselves a nice bottle and-😉? You've earned it.
The school looks so much better. The new roof is great. I can barely wait for you to start the designing and planting in the huge garden. I know it will be fantastic!!!
So happy to see the repairs to the school; that you choose to contribute to the community in this way is just so fine of you.
Nous sommes tous admiratifs de votre courage, volonté, résilience, ❤❤❤❤ prenez soins de vous . Attention à la position tête en bas et au corps qui souffre dans cette position.
The new roof is fabulous!
So glad Jonathan's school is getting things done. I know having a good community school has been good for him.
Firstly, congrats to the winner 😊.. oh my, as much as I don't miss a video, I think the high light was seeing how the school has been using donations. It's awesome. Weight lifting can be a new outdoor sport with moving rocks 😂😂 great job, by all 😊
Congratulations to Wanda. Wow, I didn't expect all that Rock to be moved and placed in one video. You guys are amazing. It looks fabulous. I am so happy for Johnathan's school. That money went a long way and was well spent.❤
I am thrilled about the school! ❤
It's so nice to see you back outside - as much as I love what you do inside to transform the chateau, it's so commendable to see that you're taking the same care of the grounds. The gardens are going to be spectacular. Not that you need another "just job" ... but perhaps finding a local artist to paint a mural on that breezeblock wall would be interesting? Certainly make the butterfly meadow even more special.
You know those guys who built the Pyramids? You all are probably descendants! 😂😂😂 I normally don't donate outside of my community but I've got to say, I love seeing that the money went directly to the school to get them up-to-date! ❤️❤️❤️
💕Ash thanks you’re a natural talking in front of the camera you speak so clearly make it so easy for us to understand what you’re talking about & the future plans at the Château💕
Your proper chateau owners looking after the community/ school. Lords and lady of the manor. Love your visions and work x
Love it when Ash waxes eloquently about plans for the chateau grounds! Nice job on the school.
You guys. You’re so kind and so hard working. I love the stones and when the plants grow. It will be amazing ❤️👏👏
Congrats to the lucky winner! Y’all have great long range plans! Thank you for posting.
Teamwork makes the dream work! Bravo, great job done .
Like the vision you have for the chateau in the coming years. You've already done so much. Be proud which you have achieved. 🥰😘
Thank you so much!! 🥰
Everything is looking so good and the school donations are being utilised well. Bless you all. ❤
My back hurt just watching the garden project! Great work and love the vision! Always wonderful to give back to children, the future. Kiddos looked so happy!
Ash and Terry always make me smile. Your presenting always make it clear that what you are doing is to share when you have guest and people come to stay. I for one can not wait for that day. ❤ The school is fabulous your community is a lovely one ❤
Looks wonderful. The school looks fantastic. Congratulations to Wanda , happy everything
Thanks so much 🥰
Thank uou so much
@@chateaudelalacelle thank you so incredibly much. I've sent you an email
Love the long term plans. The renovations at the school are fantastic ❤❤❤❤❤
Congratulations Wanda on your 2 night stay at the Chateau, and Ash the area outside the walled garden is really strating to take on shape.
Thank you do much, biggest wish come true
It's nice to see the progress with Jonathan's school. Most importantly, the water-tight roof makes the other improvements possible.
I loved that you showed the school improvements. Its shows transparency and makes your content more engaging vs leaving behing all sort of loose ends. Im loving the content. I watch you every single week for years now, and it never gets boring. I noticed you are about to start cleaning the other facades. Today I realized you still have a loooong way ahead but you are moving and doing it fast. Best wishes from Argentina ❤
Congratulations to the winner, that's so exciting, and I love the new rock garden, and it's so amazing all the wonderful people that donated money to help the school, well done everyone.👏💖🥂
So happy to see the School in such great shape!
9am and I have tears in my eyes , least they’re happy tears 😂, ah lads you make a huge difference ❤ it’s wonderful.
Hello, that was a lot of work to move all that stone. It will look wonderful in the future when all the plants take over and make it a wonderland. I think there is nothing better to look at than a rock garden. Take Care.
Yes it will. Thank you 🙏 😊
Rock garden is going to look great when things start to flourish!
Looks like the school could still use a few things but what a major change for the littles who go there. All the Kids look so happy and the Teachers are happier too. All of them safe, dry and warm at school. The computer area looked amazing, I can't imagine a child who would not want to go to school there. Let us know if or when they need another fund raiser.
What a lot of stones, the school classroom looked better no flaking paint and all the children looked happy especially Johnathon x
Ash, all your jobs are “aesthetically pleasing”
Thanks Lynn 🥰
Yaaaaay ❤🎉🌿out side video I'm a out side garden Person Or tidy up 😊 Sending you all biggest hugs ever 🤗💗
Oh my, such hard work on the rock garden. My back hurt just watching. It looks lovely. I'm so happy to see the new roof on the school, and the other improvements. Maybe next Christmas we can do another fundraiser for them.
What a huge physical undertaking for you all! The rockery will indeed get better over time but it’s already impressive!
BIG job out of the way. I've spent many a year moving rocks and can empathize. Good work! Also, your charity towards the school is commendable. Bravo!
Wow, amazing job with the rockery. 🤩It looks great. Thank you for sharing your vision with us for the Château. You certainly got a lot accomplished in the last few weeks.👍✋ There are no little jobs at that chateau😊👏
Hello Darlings It’s going to be a beautiful rock Garden! Lots of hugs 🐶❤️🐶❤️
Thanks Arpi 🥰
You are precious, amazingly talented & HARD working people. Every aspect you tackle & transform is a wondrous celebration. It is beautiful 🌷🪻🌷you thought to support the school repairs & needs. A priceless investment in children, families & the community. Thank you & God bless you. This rock episode is wonderful~back breaking & mountain moving. I love your artistry & sacrifices @ The Chateau & grounds. I value art & antiques, but also rocks & gardening. Your vision for this French wonder is glorious. The rock retaining wall slope turned out very cool. The succulents, bushes, etc. are going to be so handsome & useful. Such smart designers & incredible workers with astonishing fortitude❗️Brilliant work 🌟 🏆 🌟. Thank you for sharing it with us. The aerial shots (drones?) are always Inspiring.
Oh I love the rock idea!! It's going to be gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
Did an amazing amount of work for that amount of money. Looks much better.😊
Thanks for update on the school! WOW 🤩 looks great! Honestly, I don’t know how you all manage all the intense labor the grounds demand. Hats off to you all.
For the children, love it! ❤️❤️. Oh ya- the rock garden is going to be beautiful too, but a side note to the school, lol. Great job everyone, the children deserve the best and they now have a school to be proud of to attend!
I love everything you’re doing at the chateau! Thank you for showing the school❤️
You are ticking those 'just' jobs off thick and fast now. Has Yracy moved on from digging holes to shifting ricks, whst a great job you did with all the ricks. Loved the school update.
You must have abs of note after moving all those stones. The school looks great ❤
My goodness me that "rockery" looks more like the remains of Hadrian's Wall! Well if you need the odd stone for fountains and features they will all be in one place now!
Love seeing the school and all the improvements. Tracy you are an amazing worker! Moving all that stone!
The new rockery looks amazing and also johnathan is so pleased with the progress of the school,
It was nice to hear an update on the school. It looks great. I just can't imagine moving all those rocks... Have a great weekend!
What a massive job that stone side was!
Absolutely brilliant job on the garden!! what I wouldn't give to get in a digger!!! well gel!!🤣🤣 and what you guys have done for the school is just amazing!! keep up😍 the good work guys!!

So much done and so much to be done! The grounds will be so fantastic with the long term plans you have in mind. It’s all just wonderful! 😊
Talk about moving a mountain❤ you all work so hard ❤ thank you for sharing your journey. I enjoy every minute of it ❤❤❤
You three do the work of six people!!! You never sit still for long, but as my Dad said it doesn't get done by itself!! I wish it were possible to come from the USA for a visit but do to age and family health obligation it is not possible. Therefore watching your videos is the next best thing..
The school looks marvelous!! So happy to see all the improvements! Congrats to Wanda. Love the rock garden plan!
Thanks so much! 🥰
That was a ridiculous amount of stone to move! bit by bit the changes outside are taking shape, what an amazing place to visit it will be
The cladding looks great not an easy task either. well done :) If you are looking for inspiration for your roadway Chateau du Theil also have done stone short walls for their gardens with extra stones it would be interesting if you visited their property and see what they have done as a collab content idea :) Rockery garden will take care of some of your stones is a brilliant idea. Extra parking and little cabins sound great too maybe locals will like the fishing and having little accommodations for that.
Ash, you are so good at explaining to us all. Thank you. I am Praying you and Terry have a holiday soon. A good one. 🥰
You guys are my new obsession!! Been going back and binge watching all your vlogs right from day one, and the transformation has just been amazing! Loving the journey and thx for sharing with us all. Sending love from Canada ❤
Every vlog is great, lots of changes. The school also looks nice. Beautiful done😊
Its really looking great. Give me a place to park my bicycle, and a tree to put my sleeping bag under. And i will be happy.🤠
As you three were wrestling stones once again, I was thinking about how many tons each you had already handled and, at the end, you mentioned it too! Great hearing about some of your long term plans for the grounds. It was so heartwarming to see the improvements at Jonathan’s school. Lovely, as Tracy so eloquently said. ❤
Wow what a difference moving all the stone to the new drive edge, well worth the effort and work Loving everything you guys are doing to the Chateau, love from New Zealand ❤❤❤❤ 13:54
Lovely update! I like the idea of a couple of cottages for people to stay in and the car park will be helpful. Love the way they rocks are arranged and the plants you have added. It warmed my heart to see the work done on the school, especially the roof. ❤
