Absolutely beautiful. I honestly don't think even Generation 9 would look as good as this given the current trend of Pokemon games.
Unfortunately, The Pokémon Company and Game Freak are all about cost-efficiency and profit maximization these days, and not so much about genuine art like in the past.

I think it's completely fair having remakes like BDSP cuz there's also...you know....legends arceus... Which is literally what everyone wanted for so many years but now no one talks about it, right now everyone is hating on BDSP instead of being happy that we have not only a admittedly good sinnoh remake, but also a literal zelda pokemon game with breath of the wild graphics (maybe not quite but still). Don't get me wrong, I would love to have something like this but we gotta remember game freak are people just like us. There's a limit to what they can and can't do

Like pokemon remakes have always had good qualities and or had something new brought to the table. With BDSP it just feels like a cash grab, it feels like this remake didn't get any kind of time and or care put into it. Like gamefreak didn't even make this, it was a different company and I don't blame them or anything, but come on. Don't act like just because we're getting legend means this is okay.
Imagine if this is the teaser that got released first. Everyone would be excited. Then Gamefreak release the actual teaser and people will think it's fan made...

@@pachirsiis The entirety of ICLA + one guy from Game Freak. That doesn't even remotely mean Game Freak is making this game, it means ICLA is making the game and Masuda is assisting. Also Game Freak does not make trailers, they only develop games. TPCi has other people within that work on stuff like trailers.

Although what Millennium Loops did here is absolutely fantastic and I am not intending to discredit them in any way, there is a lot of coding and work that has to be done within the games as well, and considering the yearly releases, dropping a game of this quality, graphics wise, wouldn't be possible in the timespan they've given themselves

If they wanted, they could be spending money on remakes to be done in 8 years while also spending money for the games coming out in 4 both at the same time. It comes out as cheap and bad anyways and nothing can change that fact.

First of all, the whole “It’s a different company therefore it will be good and it’s not game freak’s fault if it’s bad” argument, is, frankly, stupid. Yes, ILCA is developing Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Yes, Game Freak is not making the game. But. Do you expect a multi billion bajillion dollar company like Game Freak to hand over their IP to a company that made a menu management system for them and say “Yeah, you guys are good, have fun.” I believe(feel free to yell at me like my whole argument is invalid if I’m wrong) masuda has a big brother role in development, where he’s keeping an eye on the devs at ILCA. And I will bet any amount of money Game Freak will be checking ILCA on everything they do to make sure it doesn’t interfere with their ‘vision’ or ‘design philosophy’. Right, one argument down, moving on. I have not played Diamond and Pearl either. I have no nostalgia glasses to take off. And yet, these games still do not cut it. I agree, they do look exactly like the originals, but in 3d. That’s the problem. In the opening scene of the official trailer, the diagonal edge of the lake looks exactly like it did from gen 4. And it looks awful. There is no need for it to look like it’s from Minecraft anymore, this game isn’t grid based anymore, with only four movement directions. Secondly, the “all og games were chibi style, this is no different” argument isn’t important either. The games were chibi, yeah. Why? Because they were sprite based. There wasn’t room on the screen for a larger, more proportional model, without either being really skinny and low res, or taking up way too much space. Ever since the transition to 3D in gen 6, models have been becoming less chibi, because they no longer need to be. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire(beautiful wonderful near perfect remakes fight me I love those games to pieces) were kind of still chibi, but not nearly as much as BDSP. And how many people were complaining? Then sun and moon happened, and completely moved on from anything resembling a chibi art style, followed by sword and shield. Pokémon has moved on, and the supposed need to revert back for ‘nostalgia’ and ‘faithfulness’ does not exist. It didn’t exist for ORAS, it doesn’t here. An art style worked 15 years ago, games have evolved. If the next Zelda game looks like ocarina of time, because ‘it worked before’ people will not be happy. Oh whoops, missed an argument. ‘The game isn’t even finished yet, we’ve only seen one trailer, so shut up’? Really? Name one time a AAA company has completely overhauled their art style in the past 10 years because of complaints(no, sonic the hedgehog movie does not count). It doesn’t happen. Yeah, we’ve only seen one trailer. Yeah, the game’s not done. And? What we saw is what we’re getting. This game comes out in about 5 months at the time of writing(based on previous launches), I highly doubt, given the design philosophy of a ‘faithful recreation’ that we’ll get any major changes. We’ll find out that exp share is gone, hms are gone, and maybe megas based on rumors(which are RUMORS). None of that changed the issues with the game. This just might be me, but I don’t think ILCA quite has the resume to develop a highly anticipated remake. They made a menu management system. That people didn’t like. This is not a good reason for them to be given authority over these games. I agree game freak has not handled the past few entries into the series well. And I did have hope initially that ILCA could do a better job. And yet. Call me crazy, but I suspect GF will have a tight stranglehold on ILCA getting too creative, like, I don’t know, adding Pokémon. Oh, by the way, calling people stupid and toxic haters is never a good way to end an argument. Or the beginning, for that matter. There’s nothing wrong with fans criticizing a game. Look at Balan Wonderworld. That game is, without argument, bad. And that is partly due to the lack of response after the demo. Some things were fixed, like the t-posing bosses and seizures. Fans have a right to voice their opinion without being called toxic fans and haters. Have some people been overreacting? Yeah, they have. Are they allowed to criticize? Absolutely. I fall into the category of people who liked gen 6(an admittedly small category), and I have no problem with people who respectfully disagree. It’s when they have poor arguments, call people stupid, and refuse to accept any other opinion that I take to the comment section and call them out for it. Anyway, I’ve spent too much time here(more time was devoted here than in papers that mattered lol), and I need to get back to playing better Pokémon games.

I still look at footage of the remaster and cry a little inside. This video is what I wanted from a remake. Poor Sinnoh... one of my favorite regions given such little regard makes me sad 💔

But it's not what alot of fans wanted. It's just a blatant cash grab that will sell bc it's pokemon. And they obviously didn't want to do anything drastic so instead very little was done differently at all. It's a hollow example of a 'remake'

@@NotNowAiden The 3DS games look better than the Sinnoh remakes. They have tile for tile copied the original games so you get rows of identical trees that were only that way in the original games because of technical limitations. The 3DS games didn’t have that problem because they had much more storage and memory to work with. And the Switch has even more so they have done it just to be lazy. But then people will just say that it’s #Faithful.

@@masteroflag people are free to be unhappy about how it looks like and was executed so far. I’m a fan of the chibi style and the top-down view is nostalgic in a way, but the way it was carried out in BDSP doesn’t sit right with me (based on the trailers, anyway.) If it’s going to be as “faithful” a remake as can be, I’m going to hard skip it-if the only purpose of this “remake” was to reimagine it with better graphics/in 3D/what have you...shouldn’t it at least look a bit more visually appealing? If you like how it looks so far, I’m happy for you. But you have (to some extent) understand the controversy surrounding the remakes. The whole “you’re never happy” argument is a bit dumb, it’s like asking for the glorified burger advertised in a commercial and you get a half-hearted recreation of it, then telling the disappointed customer “shut up and eat your food, this is what you asked for” Gen 4 remakes were highly anticipated. Even if what they did is different, it doesn’t always necessarily mean it’s good, from a subjective standpoint anyway. 4th gen was the generation that really stuck with me as a kid, and I’ve been hoping for years that it’d look a little more like the fan trailer here. I’m just sad that BDSP feels like it’s getting shafted so that they can invest more time into Legends: Arceus

Tbh I actually don’t mind the chibi style since I know they were trying to do something different but they could’ve at least made it look more like Link’s Awakening, the textures in the trailer looked so off and too bright But this fan made trailer is pretty amazing

FRLG had dark and steel types, ORAS had the physical special split and fairy types... So when looking at a remake that should’ve been easy and sold well which is Warcraft 3 Reforged, it ended up tanking and Blizzard didn’t work on that either. THIS! it is exactly what I thought/hoped the game was going to be. A remake of an older game is supposed to be a step up from what it used to be but the actual brilliant diamond/shiny pearl look old-fashioned. It is not appealing at all. It should at least be in the same style as sun and moon or something but they actually took a step back design-wise. This has so much more feeling. It has room for actual suspension and storytelling. absolutely stunning work!

I love the way they made Cyrus' model, it shows just how intimidating and cold he is, meanwhile in the actual games he probably looks two feet tall with anime eyes.

@@noprz exactly. SwSh was the 2nd highest selling Pokemon game despite the attempted boycott, and being the literal worst pokemon game ever made (at least pre DLC). Didn't teach TPC, Game Freak, or Nintendo a lesson whatsoever. If anything it just showed them they can continue putting in absolute minimal effort and still make top dollar.

Nah this looks even more janky than Game Freak's games, and thats a high bar to set. Sure the art style is appealing to those who wanted a more SM/SwSh style, but that's all it has going for it is the art style.

The ending is actually perfection, the music and legendary Pokémon flying around Dawn right after the rewind of the whole trailer, all accumulating into the statue then the card drop. Holy heck this is insane bro, you’re one hell of a designer. 👍🏻

I literally just played platinum this morning, sinnoh was amazing and deserves an amazing update, not something so mediocre many people who love sinnoh aren't even going to buy it, myself included, it would be better off not existing if it's going to be that disapointing. Sinnoh remakes were inevitable, so there's no luck to be grateful for that they're happening, just bad luck that they finally got made and now don't even look worth buying.

I love this. The only other thing I wish they had done is go with alliteration for the titles to make them pop more. Something like Dazzling Diamond/Polished Pearl, that way the ROM hackers can get behind that and use Daunting Diamond and Perilous Pearl afterward when they make harder versions of these games too. It's almost as if Game Freak doesn't care and it's saddening
