Ontricus and Connoire recently pulled off two top runs in Minecraft's most exciting speedrun category, including a new world record. In this video I break down how they were pulled off, and why 1.15 is Minecraft's most exciting speedrun category right now.

  • Personally I think Connor’s run is super impressive. Didn’t have a great computer, didn’t use a calculator, was on world record pace, skillfully played through an unfamiliar seed. So close!

    • If Connor’s run was an instant nav with the same instant perch, suddenly sub 13 doesn’t seem that impossible (still definitely not reasonable bc Connor had godly rng throughout and simply didn’t have the hardware to preemptive)

  • Connoire was like an extremely good soldier gifted with terrain advantage on a battlefield... but his weapon failed him(to some extent), still undeniably he's extremely good, but also it's such a shame

  • Well, this is so painfully that some strategies depends on computer setup... Connoire not ony capable of reload much lesser amount of seeds per iteration, but also just cannot use pie navigation only because of bad PC setup... True segregation...

    • he could run a 4th easily with the CPU he has idk why he doesn't. And preemptive could absolutely work on his computer, I'd honestly consider reinstalling Windows and everything then try it again. But yes a laptop is generally bad for speedrunning and even desktop users aren't all equal.

    • A better PC is an obvious step for a top Speedrunner. Minecraft does not need a fancy GPU, and recently some awesome CPUs have become extremely cheap.

    • @@AlessioSangalli but still it's a segregation. Folks who born in really poor country, who born in really poor family and honestly, there's thousands of other circumstances when you just cannot afford better PC for MC speedrunning but still doing runs. As you can see, Connoire is not a top runner, and he is not streamer or smth. He just got insane luck and lost that opportunity because of bad PC.

  • I wish the title couldve been more honest about the category. imo, a game version isnt a category.. its just a different version of the game. But I can understand why they'd have it as its own cat. At the same time it should be titled Any% along with game ver. Categories in my opinion could be like village% house% farm% full diamond armor% stuff like that instead of just saying oh hey 1. whatever is now a full on category. Maybe this conclusion is dumb but idk I think it makes sense at least a little

    • ninjabrain bot is just a really complicated calculator that uses in-game information and combines it with some math theory (it has something to do with cosinus if i remember correctly), so In theory u can count it without the program but it would take a lot of time, but there isn't any know way on how to calculate other things like spawners. Maybe in future

    • The mods have a clause that requires them to explicitly allow any new external tools. In addition calculators were only unbanned for triangulation in the vote, they are still not allowed for other things like nav.

    • @@mmikolaj you can in fact calibrate your PC to know exactly how much block entity a spawner generates in pie chart just like you calibrate the ninjabrain bot. Then you can make a tool that when you aim with 30 FOV and the proper settings tells you how likely the pr is to be in the direction you are looking towards
