Paying Bombers member here. I've been to every home game in the last 5 years and at this point, I just want to give a good account on Anzac day and beat Carlton and Richmond. Could litteraly care less about finals, my 'finals footy soul' left my body years ago 😂
You and your supporter base having that mindset is the exact reason you havnt won a final in 20 years, if the supporters don’t even hold the club to account, how could you expect success?

I'm also a payed up member and have been for over 10 years but I couldn't completely disagree with your sentiment. You disgust me as a so called supporter if you care more about winning a few rivalry games more than winning in finals and pushing for a flag.

Ridley went down last year and the team went with him. The backline looks a lot better and deeper this year..
Just seems like there hasn't been any direction at all to Essendon's list build since the mid 2000s.

@@jonniezodiacThere is no real reason why it needs to take a few seasons to correct when we have the most top 10 picks in the League, quite a few All-Australians and were sitting 5th on the ladder after Round 17 having been in the 8 most of last season. Realistically we only need a another medium intercept defender, a solid big bodied midfielder and a 35-40 goal a season small forward to legitimately become pretty good. Much of which is very gettable with the plethora of cap space the club still has its disposal. With those 4 significant additions of experience in the off-season, the list has gotten older in both in average age (currently ranked 12th oldest) and experience (currently ranked 7th oldest). All of that strongly indicates the trajectory should be going up and not down in the next few seasons and ultimately the words 'patience' and 'time' can no longer be preached or used as an excuse.

Essendon play really well against good teams then play really bad against teams they should beat 🤷♂️

The main indicator of where a team is at each year is their ladder % more than their ladder position. Bombers had a bottom 4 % last year.
Sure, it takes time to build a successful side. But surely you can't keep peddling the same line as a club and give players an out. If your club and coach keeps pushing the idea of it takes time you're not pushing the list.

Essendon can make the 8 this year , they are in a large group of teams that success will rely on the health of their better players. With injuries already to parish Draper and most importantly Ridley that’s not looking in great shape so far. Essendon can’t win it though because they don’t have any top 20 players. They will hope a top 20 player comes from their recent drafts.
Lloyd is spot on. It's all Mental with Essendon, and they are mentally soft

Punters just talk and talk but after 2 rounds and for the Bombers just 1 game, you cant tell anything at this time. Look at the Bombers or any team after 10 games and then have a good discussion. Load of TV crap.
If the essendon club loses it patience by end of 2025 Brad to West Coast.
Darcy parish is the main reason why Essendon mediocrity team,just look at some of the games he played in, one game come to mind was the Fremantle game ,when Darcy parish just walked around, and did even Chase his Fremantle opponent, Essendon have a lot of players, that are softest by the butter,afraid to break a fingernail, we don't have many tough players ,who can bang and crash against other opposition players, player like Dean Wallis

‘Tough’ players are recruited. ‘Skillful’ players are recruited. ‘Big body’ players are recruited. We could have the best coach, program in the world and still won’t have a balanced list.
Bartel is a real man. brad Scott is weak.

Tony I watched the practise match and if that is what Essendon has been working on during the off-season they will be second last. It was chip, chip and just spineless football. Horrendous to watch!

Replaced Rutten after a bad year with a coach who has a 50% win rate. Go figure as you need to win in the vicinity of 60% of a seasons games to make the finals. OK Scott did get Nth Melbourne the finals but not much more than average performances. Comments from Scott re an 8 year program starts to sound like a bloke looking to secure a new contract for that time and with no regard to successfully becoming a side regularly pushing for a spot in the September action. The Bombers have bombed out !! T T
