  • Hello from Korea! 🇰🇷 I've been a ninja since 2016, I think :p Haha I couldn't help but leave a comment as it was the first time to be mentioned Korea (properly!), which made me delighted. Your pronunciation was absolutely correct - Bibimbab. FYI, 1)Bibim comes from a verb, bibida, which means to mix in Korean and 2) bab means rice in Korea. ALSO, I saw you on the tube when I was in London last year.Haha I should've said hi and thank you for hard work :) Thank you, Luke!

    • @@LukesEnglishPodcast Hi Luke, I’m listening to the podcast halfway through now. Haha I’m impressed that she can say “happy new year” in Korean! I’d say she was quite good as everyone would understand her for sure! Also, I do agree with her about the term, Lunar New year. We celebrate it as a big national holiday; but we are not Chinese, you see. The fun fact, the date of birth for our parents generation (let alone grandparents) is based on lunar calendar, which means the date is changed every year on the “normal” calendar. Haha you might find it interesting! Hmm can’t remember exactly when, but probably before the lockdown, March 2020? You were wearing headphones haha Thank you for your reply :) And CONGRATS on your big number on KZhead!

  • Hello luke!! How's it going mate!? Hopefully you're doing well mid this pandemic situation. I will try not to be longer here. I just wanted to suggest you a podcast idea. I am english learner. I've been learning english for 2 years. I currently live in Dublin - Ireland. Basically I have learnt English by myself throughout this time. Reading has been the most important tool for my improvement, I'd say. Anyway, I have really nice experience in this journey of learning English. I decided to mensage you because I really want to teach English in the near future and then it just pop up in mind to suggest you that you could do a podcast with me. You know, you can lead me throughout the conversation, I mean, a English learning who wants to be a teacher. There are lots of things that I would talk about. I'm native Portuguese speaker. We may through this language issues, I don't know, I'm just wondering, I'd say, it seems to be a really good idea. Perhaps you may add more followers on your KZhead channel. I appreciate your work teaching English. I might be going far with this, but if you feel like do something like, I would appreciate so much do it with you. I wish all the best for you mate. Keep sharing your knowledge with others, I'm hundred percent sure that you've helped a lot of people. Cheers man!! Have a good one!!

  • Jason Statham accent in Snatch (Guy RItchie movie which I totally recommend you) was one of my first encounter with a proper English accent. I think that it's not a bad source ;) Talking about cancel culture in comedy industry I'd like just to quote what Ricky Gervais says "You can joke about whatever the fuck you like. And some people won't like it and they will tell you they don't like it. And then it's up to you whether you give a fuck or not. And so on. It's a good system." People don't get the difference between what a comedian thinks and what he or she says on the stage. They don't understand that Cavani didn't do anything wrong when he said to his friend "gracias negrito". Personally I like such comedians like Bill Burr or Ricky. It's a stand up. Nobody thinks that Christoph Waltz who played SS colonel Hans Landa is a psychopath right? :) Cheers!!

I was imagining you and Paul Taylor in the same vídeo with her and I started to laugh already. Could be crazy! You can count millions of views! Luke, I watch all of your podcasts because of your accent and because you are very good but also I watch her because I am living in Edinburgh and I can't understand these people at all. Fucking accent! I am from Brazil and speak Portuguese because no one British wanted to go there to discover that fucking country. Now I speak a language that nobody cares about. @trevorbin@trevorbin3 жыл бұрын
    • “Make it snappy” means “do it quickly”. “Get me a drink and make it snappy!” = “get me a drink and do it quickly!” A crocodile is also snappy because it bites quickly, or snaps. So, “get me a crocodile and make it snappy” hahahaha etc. 🐸

  • Hi, I hope you're doing well. I was only listening to your podcast to study English, and it really helps. I didn't know where to share my opinion on this episode and decided to come here. First of all, I am a big fan of both of you guys really, and I appreciate for you guys' time and effort in creating this. I could not finish this episode as it was really uncomfortable to listen to what you mentioned about cancel culture. I cannot remember the name of an American comedian but Paul said he makes a misogynic joke. However, you both said it is tolerable as we are aware that he treats "his wife" very reasonably and does not beat her up. Do you really think that is it? As comedians and writers or creators, do you not think what influence you guys have on other people out there? Because you guys said that, some may think those types of behaviours and jokes are fine to do, which is clearly not and intolerable. You guys have shown the same status towards race issues several times already as well. I don't really understand why people cannot make a joke without putting some people in a vulnerable position. As Paul said, in Britain, people are exposed to so many other cultures and different types of people, which means you should be able to know how to respect them, not make a joke about them by saying "it is a joke". I wish you guys had more consideration of your influence at this stage. Oh well, if you read this, thank you for reading this it was a really disappointing one.

    • Hi Sara, I’m very glad you normally enjoy episodes I do with Paul and I’m sorry you found this one disappointing. I’m afraid we didn’t spend enough time talking properly about the issue of cancel culture and the comedian Bill Burr, and so we gave quite a simplistic account of what happened. I hope you didn’t get the wrong impression of our overall view of this issue. Of course it’s not as simple as we described here and there are many other facets and aspects relating to the treatment of women in relationships and in society, and we didn’t talk about those things in enough detail. So, I’m sorry about that.
