NEW VIDEO: Sculpting Willem Dafoe as the Joker | 300+ hours in 11 minutes
► • Sculpting Willem Dafoe...
This is a tribute to Arthur Morgan, one of the greatest characters in video game history. Hope you'll enjoy it, I gave it all I had. If you want to see more of my works follow me on:
► / craftyartsculpture ► / craftyartsculpture
This video shows how to sculpt a horse, a human figure and a portrait likeness. You'll see the process of making a sculpture in clay from start to finish. It's a true honor for me to share my passion with you, and I want to thank you all so much for the overwhelmingly positive feedback.
If you enjoy my videos and want to support this channel, you can do that by signing up my Patreon.
► / craftyart
You can get exclusive rewards like shout-outs at the end of my videos, behind the scenes videos with my complete sculpting process, tips and tricks on sculpting, private lessons and more.
The complete sculpting process of this piece is now available on Patreon.
For business inquiries e-mail me at: craftyart2017@gmail.com
FAQ's:
1. What clay are you using?
I'm using Monster Clay medium and hard grade.
It is an oil based clay that changes its consistency with temperature. It becomes soft when heated and hard when cold. It's doesn't harden over time, it will keep the same consistency overall so you can either stock it on a shelf or reuse the clay.
You can find Monster Clay at www.monstermakers.com/monster-clay , on Amazon or at your local art stores.
2. Can I buy this sculpture?
Unfortunately not, it's not for sale.
3. Will you paint it?
I'm not going to paint it. In order to do that it would have to be cast in a more durable material. Honestly I don't have the experience to mold a sculpture like this. It would take a professional mold maker to do it and there's no one like that in my area. This was just intended to be a one off and it will be kept in clay form. It would be possible to paint over the clay but it would be difficult to get in some areas and it's very likely to damage the sculpture in the process especially when it comes to smaller details, so it will remain like this.
4. What is the liquid you're applying and what is it for?
The liquid is Zippo lighter fluid, you can see the container throughout the video. Its purpose is to soften the surface of the clay, make it uniform and remove tool marks.
5. How long did this take you to make?
It took me about a month to finish the sculpture and probably another month to go through all the process videos and edit the final video.
If anyone is interested in seeing the whole process there are 20 videos available on my Patreon with every step in the creation of this sculpture. You can access all of them for $5 if you go to / craftyart
6. Do you take commissions?
I'm not taking commissions at the moment.

    @Renatinho12ful@Renatinho12ful Жыл бұрын
    • Atleast one thing you have with clay I would think would be depth, as you can stack clay to raise or lower areas or to create shadows, whereas with drawing it's often difficult to correctly shade to show something thats meant to have depth.

    @silvia2057@silvia20573 жыл бұрын
    • thats because they do mass production.

      @JPeeee@JPeeee3 жыл бұрын
    • J P theyre still able to do this level of detail, but they choose not to as it would take more workers (which means more pay) more time (they want their product out asap) and no matter the detail, toy companies target children and they wouldnt know the difference anyways. with the amount of extra work that would be put in they would have to at least double the price to keep their profit margin. so they can, but they dont. and its better imo that they dont. companies that work specifically on figurines though... they could take some notes. the target isnt kids and the consumers would know the difference.

      @toshinouu3306@toshinouu33063 жыл бұрын
    • Toshinouu I remember as a kid the gi jo figurines used to be pretty detailed & so were the Star Wars ones. The reason would be the sculptors are making it out of clay, while toys are plastic. It’s probably much harder to get significant small details like this guy would be able too with plastic. You’re right though they could but but it’s not necessary to put too much extra work into a toy that’s going to possibly get smashed, thrown & broken

      @Caleb-hd3qs@Caleb-hd3qs3 жыл бұрын

Like his frown lines under his hat, or the design on the saddle, which he did on top of, and many more. You've put so much more detail in than was necessary, but I really appreciate that level of commitment, because even if nobody else ever saw it, you'd still know it's there.
