  • Art ... that is so good. Pushing yourself and experimenting to the detriment of perfection is the way to go I believe. I recently started a 3 day project that was simply making a mask for my grandaughter with papier-mache. It went out of control and three months later it's finished as a resin casting from a silicon mould. A simple project for a child became like something from a Hollywood props department.

  • In Miniature Painting, we know these problems. Your problem is with your primer. Try using a rattlecan primer next time. When you use the airbrush to prime your models, the prime layers are too thin to stick to the model. I hope your next model will not have the same issues. And by the way, this artwork is amazing!

  • This is wonderful. Not only is it a fantastic tribute to this legendary player but it's a perfect mimic to his journey from pretty exceptionally bad at the game to becoming a god at that fight. Slow progress, issues and errors and problems and attempt after attempt. It mirrors the player so very much.

    @Alucia0@Alucia010 ай бұрын
    • Thank you :) That "struggle" is why I also didn't want to put the model in a particularly heroic pose. I didn't have a place for this thought in the video, but in my mind, this is earlier on in his "career" and he had just taken a hit or narrowly avoided one with a dodge, and is just now getting up on his feet, ready to fight again.

Only recently have I been able to just sculpt a piece and say "it's good enough" so I can learn from it and take those new skills to the next piece. Prior to that it had been almost 2 years since I had finished my last sculpt and my workspace was just littered with incomplete sculpts I never finished, only now have I started working through my 'backlog' essentially. • Hey love, I noticed that you’re quite harsh on yourself and your art. As someone who sculpted for about 20ish years and has been doing art since I could hold a brush (so about 40+ years), you’re doing very well. Something I learnt along the way was that you will always make mistakes, sometimes it’s so minor you can barely notice it and other times you have to redo the entire thing. Sculpting will always test your patience but you will gain such a great perseverance that you can apply to pretty much anywhere in your life. I understand how being an artist it’s very easy to nitpick your own art and see all the flaws but if you look back to where you started or even a year ago, you will see such a major improvement that you should be so proud of yourself for. Making mistakes is so intrinsic to being a great artist and gaining those skills but please be kinder to yourself, it breaks my heart to see someone with so much talent and artistry be so negative about their own ability.

  • Wonderful to see your experiences, both the frustrating and successful ones. Considering some of the materials used are relatively new to you the end result still appears masterful.

  • Great work my friend. Cos clay once you get use to it is one of the best materials I have ever used. Glad to see you enjoyed it.

  • Very honestly, the flaws from experimentation or stepping into the unknown, even from lack of patience and rushing the process all deliver a story and contribute to the personality of your work. Something does not even need to be technically impressive to appear fantastic. You are an artist, and everything you touch or create by extension will be some form of art when held to your personal standards. The commentary is really helpful and enlightening.

  • Thank you for including all the flaws, mistakes, failed experiments, and pain in your video. These are all important steps in the creative process that people WILL encounter in their own sculpts.

  • Jarnished, this video is so good. What you were talking about at the end with the idea of how the process of making this piece was like Elden Ring itself is what I was thinking about the whole video. That it's about the journey, and how in the face of your own mistakes you used that as a learning opportunity and rose up to the challenge, and about the importance and beauty of imperfection. That's what Let Me Solo Her is all about too! They're a great living example of that very concept taken to it's logical conclusion, of the ethos of Soulslike games; that making mistakes is an *essential* part of the process, and that if you take those mistakes and learn from them and continue pushing forward anyway, you can do *anything* (This is a sentiment that playing Geometry Dash and watching Into the Spiderverse also instilled in me. I think this is also where people who talk about how Dark Souls saved their life or changed them for the better are coming from. Awesome stuff :3)

  • It looks great. As a artist I get your pain from the events not going as planned. That's a huge portion of being a artist, fixing mistakes and turning them into something.

  • Jarnished :) congrats to you for an amazing piece of art and a great learning curve. It really is a tribute to a very difficult game (not my cup of tea, but I enjoy watching an occasional vid of it). Congrats also to LMSH for inspiring this, and OMG you must be good! When a game and a player inspires a piece of art ... what a compliment! I felt the same about your Hollow Knight piece, I'm a bit attached to that game, despite not being very good at it.
