  • War Paint for Men is a fantastic brand. After watching and reading many great reviews, including yours, I recently purchased the Ultimate Set last week, arriving in time just before my trip to Paris with my brother. It was so easy and quick to apply with no fuss. And it made my complexion a nice even colour that looked natural and fantastic. No one would know you're wearing makeup and that further gave me an added boost of confidence while looking good. Because I wasn't sure of finding your shade and as recommended on their website, I sent an email with a self-photo to get a quick response saying we think fair will best suit you. It turned out to be the right shade for me and works great with my favourite Gatineau skincare products.

  • So I've just started using the tinted moisturizer & concealer and ohh I absolutely love it! I've had massive confidence issues and anxiety all my life especially about the way I look. This product helps so much and I've not had 1 person ask if I'm wearing make up. It really has done wonders for me I feel much more comfortable and confident in myself. The stigma around men's make up needs to be removed. I'm a straight guy not that it matters one bit but I'm just curious, are there other straight guys out there using this? I don't know what your sexual preference is so apologies if I've caused any offence. None intended. Great video too 👍

    • I had a lot of acne during puberty, which made me socially withdrawn, I thought I was being judged by everybody. My gf at the time introduced me to woman's make up and it really changed my life. I don't have any acne anymore but I use concealer under my eyes sometimes when I didn't sleep enough. Anyway, it's great to see a company introducing those products to men :) but once you got to know them don't hesitate to try products destined to women it's pretty much the same and you can find them for much cheaper

    • Hey mate I have red cheeks also and im a 25 year old male. I’ve always hated my red cheeks but honestly I’m still sort of trying different things out but a green tea dash wash is good as green tea is calming for redness. And then a good moisturiser is key! Follow that up with something simple to start with maybe a light foundation or a light bb cream and just get a feel for how it sits on your skin and if you like the coverage or want more coverage! All trial and error but defiantly plenty of ways to get around the redness!:) I hope that helps!

  • Soooo as a beauty content creater I have a few opinions on this brand and video First my opinion is not personal towards Carl just the review 1. He stated he paid for the products to ensure he can do a honest review 😳 2 . I’m shocked that he seems to think 5 shades is acceptable ... it makes no sense at all 3 . The price point is very expensive 4 . The brand in my opinion is a bad image for men ,,, typical toxic masculinity that we don’t need in 2020 ... at the end if the day makeup is makeup 5 . If they are marketing towards masculine men ( and they are I’ve seen their Instagram ) I think the men should just grow a pair , go to sephora or boots and see exactly what is out there in terms of makeup ... I can name 100 drug store brands that would give a better finish As a male who wears makeup and reviews makeup I’m offended when makeup brands aim towards men and women separately ... as I’ve said many times before makeup is makeup And this is no shade to Carl just my opinion

    • HEF By David I completely understand where your coming from and of course it’s your opinion. Yes makeup is for all but to help some people find the courage to actually wear it I don’t think making a brand specifically for men is bad. It took me a while myself and some people not like us might never find that confidence. I agree the shade range is minimal but i understand a new makeup brand starting out with minimal budgets compared to huge global brands it can be hard to release 100s or shades. I feel with there 5 shades they are still given an option to all types of skin tones. I appreciate you watching and of course these are your views and everyone is entitled to their own opinion :)

    • Carl Cunard of course 100% ... literally nothing to do with you I’ve been watching your videos for a few years now And I get men not having the courage starting out I was 1 of those men 3 years ago haha and I feel like I had a negative image of men in makeup at that time but also wasted my money on the wrong products that don’t work just because they are aimed towards men I’m in the middle of starting my own cosmetic line atm so I get budget ... but I do also see they are paying love island contestants to promote the brand so I wudda just spent the extra few pounds on a few more shades lol ... But good review , as I said have been watching for years and no personal opinion toward you 👌

      @dbydavid3028@dbydavid30283 жыл бұрын
    • @@dbydavid3028 Thanks for sharing your thoughts. 1. We can confirm Carl definitely purchased these products and we haven't paid or gifted anything for this review. We only just found out Carl has created a review. 2. We understand for some men a lower shade range is not suitable. Different guys apply makeup differently, and a lot of the feedback we received is regarding guys not wanting shade ranges to be complicated. We often get messages from men finding it hard to choose from the 5. We are working on expanding our shade range, however as a start up with so many exciting new opportunities, these things can take time. 3. We produce our own formula in the UK, we don't repackage already made formula's with our branding. This is important to us and naturally will increase the cost. That won’t suit everyone and some people will prefer to spend more money on different items, whether it’s accessories, makeup, clothing, cars, etc.

      @WarPaintForMen@WarPaintForMen3 жыл бұрын
    • 4. Our brand focuses on bringing men to the forefront. Most makeup brands only use and feature women, creating products that primarily suit that market. There are many beauty brands out there and some will cater to different kinds of customers and needs. Makeup is makeup like you said. But likewise, this could be said with clothing, skin care, shoes and more, there are dedicated collections and brands for men and women. Why do we have razor brands targeted at women? Razors are razors, but they’re packaged in lighter colours with a woman on the front and are more expensive. If makeup was for everyone all the major brands would be using a range of men on their marketing campaigns and making it more gender neutral. A lot of people commenting on this won't bring this to the major makeup brands not featuring men. 5. Our founder, Danny, struggled massively with body dysmorphia and that affected his mental health. Makeup helped him regain confidence. It is so easy to tell a guy ‘grow a pair’, and forget the stigma and backlash people face daily for simply talking about their insecurities. You may have the confidence to walk into a store, and we applaud you for that. In a day and age where people talk about Mental Health and want to raise awareness around the rise in male suicide, it’s strange to see phrases like ‘grow a pair’. Let’s be kinder. To clarify, War Paint is the brand name, and came from a popular term ‘putting my War Paint on’ that was used by women, and nothing to do with making makeup sound masculine. We also personally respond to everyone asking questions or reaching out for support. We are always open to collaborations, answering any questions or thoughts, so please feel free to reach out to us via our social channels.

  • This is just for insecure straight men that are scared to go into a Sephora or Ulta, it’s still makeup the shade range was horrible, and who wears a tinted moisturizer and a foundation? I’m confused by that part, no shade I love Carl’s content I just expected him to mention something about the shade range and instead he acted as if 5 shades is enough for everybody that’s insane. If your a straight guy and you don’t want to go into Sephora or a ulta then just order online this brand is just playing on the fears that straight men have when it comes to makeup. In my opinion this is over priced and had no coverage, imagine If Becca or too faced came out with 5 foundation shades they would dragged, fenty has a gentleman’s package which is cheaper and a lot better. But to each their own I guess.

    • I agree with you. The brand’s very idea to break the norm just shows they are the ones who believe makeup is genderized, which is so not the case. It’s sad that men needs to have a specific brand just so they can buy and use it. While I am all for men wearing makeup, I don’t think there should be a brand created just for them. I haven’t heard a woman say that makeup is genderized, so ig that’s a men’s problem? They created the stigma and now they’re trying to break it. How ironic.

    • We wish all the major brands marketing towards women felt the same way, representing men on campaigns and creating products to suit their needs. It's hard for one brand to suit everyone. The same could be said for clothing, accessories, shoes and so much more, other than sizing and colours that are personal to each individual, why do we have collections dedicated to men or women and different brands. A lot of male makeup brands get this comment, but the sad reality is the lack of representation and normalising of all men using makeup by all the major brands has created this stigma. Many guys would purchase skinny jeans from women's sections in stores before they started bringing in collections for men including skinny jeans, just like women purchasing razors for men before brands started creating women's razors. Brands do this to make people more comfortable with purchasing a product that traditionally seen as for either women or men. We want to make makeup acceptable for everyone, give people a choice.

  • That legit looks cakey and chalky. The moisturizer shade is better than the foundation, but neither are good. 10/10 this was a sponsored vid becaus no human with working eyes would do this product review and determine this is good.

    • I paid for all the products myself 😁 So no sponsor here hunny. This video is all in my opinion and I thought the products were good. Each to their own opinion

  • Being lucky enough to be a nice guy, you can't say the products are hurting you. You are the same as before. No, sorry. The setting powder was clearly white and not "transparent" and thanks to the lights I suppose that the direct application of powder (setting powder) on other powder (bronzer) hid the "natural" "dusty" effect. Certainly, for those who love the "natural" matte look .... (because a healthy and healthy skin looks dull, right? Or maybe not ...) and maybe 25 years old like you ... the result It's guaranteed.

  • Nice guy but wonder if he had any education in regard to the beauty industry. It seems he is just giving comment on products he just buys out of intrest to use himself. Some rules of applying make-up are completely ignored. For an example I noticed he does not know how to draw eyebrows. As I said nice guy but his advise is purely based on his own experience and not on his knowledge as a professional make-up artist. Stil good to look at his video’s though.

    • Ah…he’s a guy! Not a women. Of course you have more experience and knowledge…you’ve been using makeup since you were 8yrs old 😂. Chill out. I think it looks natural and onpoint for a guy.

    • I understand your point, although I actually like the way he reviews it. I'm his target audience: a guy who wishes to conceal some spots, maybe on occasion look a bit healthier and less tired. By no means any formal or informal make-up education. So with regard to your example: if he would have demonstrated a product by drawing and eyebrow first that would be an immediate disqualifier for me, as I don't know how to do this either and if he test the products in a too 'professional' way, I will never know how they compare when used/applied in my less-than-professional way. With regards to the products themselves (not the application), yes a formal education could be e plus but to me he comes across is someone who spends wayyyy more time on this subject than I do, making him an expert for me by default.

  • Bronze did get taken away. 5 colour shades is not enough. You have a lot of potential but need to work on your editing and presenting. A little more humour or entertainment would be nice. Glad you did this review as not enough out there about men's only makeup lines. No hate just support in what I say.
