Thats channel is 99Times better than anything that ever ran on TV to this day....
Cheers mate glad you enjoy the vids!
truth - TV today is evil leftist globalists hypocritical and propaganda
Actually I would say 100 times… 😊
Well,,I think the dialogue on Hustler channel is better, so 98 would be my opinion. 😂
Do you still have a TV?
Old Yellow is just laughing at Fancy Franna lying there in bits and pieces!
Fancy Fenna is a Hollywood actress. Looks good, but doesn't do any meaningful work. 😅
One day the drift Franna shall rise as it's most fitting successor.
Tilleys have history - scenes of them pushing naval aircraft out of deck fires.
I really hate to think you would abandon Ol' Yeller when the Franna goes into service. Why not a littl TLC before you sell it?
@@paulpatti1681Wow! Now that you mention it! I had forgotten about those scenes.
Karen, your editing keeps getting slicker and more interesting with each video. Thanks for all the attention you pay this. It's a great parallel to the attention Kurtis pays his side of the jobs.
Wow, thank you!
Indeed! Fantastic cinematography.
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering Best close-in shots, seamless editing, and knowing what and when to capture the action makes Karen a true professional! She has been a talented, essential part of the CEE success story! Hats off from a lifetime design engineer and ex-military here in the USA.
Curtis' videos should be required viewing for EVERY student in EVERY mechanical trade and engineering program. They are case studies in practical repair and building practices for all kinds of machinery. These videos are doing the mechanical tradecrafts a huge favor! After having seen him repairing so many different kinds of machine parts, now I can look at most anything and envision how I might be able to fix it, if only I had a big forklift, a honking big lathe, a shop crane, and the various other highly efficient, effective tools Curtis has...plus the knowledge of how to run them right, which is of course the most important part.
That is "if" the local school districts allow vocational education. I was a voc. ed. teacher for over twenty years and the San Diego Unified School District decided voc. ed. was not a priority. My minors is academic subects kept me teaching for another 30 years but not in the shop. SAD. It will take people like you to force these districts to put voc ed back.
Watching Kurtis's welding techniques has improved my welding. Kurtis has phenomenal skill. I may be only 4 kg of wire in, a far cry from his Tons, but it's best to learn from a master.
@@user-fz6vs4de9m That's San Diego Unified for ya!
The very positive part of youtube. Everybody wins, including the student and teacher who will not have access to a shop with an expansive inventory of machines and tools + a master tradesman!
To zvládne každý len potrebuje skúsenosti a hlavne aby mal záujem a zvedavosť 😊
I love how careful Kurtis is with his tools! He treats them like they're expensive, precision equipment!
They are. Without precision you can't call yourself Cutting Edge Engineering. Very disciplined to care for one's tools.
Es que lo son!
Quality Tools and equipment are VERY expensive. I have all my tools and they look like they are on a Snap-On truck, because most came off a Snap-On truck. If you take care of your equipment, much of it will last your entire life. I laugh at the crap they sell on Craigs List as I take a look once in a while out of morbid curiosity. They try to sell a small tool box of miscellaneous rusted garbage for $100. Most people wouldn’t know nice quality tools if it slapped them in the face and knocked their front tooth out. I also appreciate the care Kurtis shows his belongings. Well taken care of tools and a clean shop says a lot about a person. As a retired professional mechanic, this is something I took pride in and notice. There are shops I wouldn’t take my Radio Flyer wagon to.
@@seaswirl79 have you noticed how Kurtis' shop has evolved? He's now got the corner devoted to welding. So organised and in order. Every tool imaginable at arms length. What an assortment. Being that organised and well supported by tools ... No wonder he can boldly tackle the most tasking jobs.
I have never seen forks on a lift truck adjust so effortlessly. He clearly has paid attention to the maintenance.
The main lesson learned by watching the first five minutes of this program is why the term “Young Guys” is used. This is a young man’s trade. Climbing up and down off of that bucket would wear a man out that wasn’t in good physical condition. I know that other parts surrounding the trade are brutal to the body. The buffing and cleaning side is always going to take a toll. Take care of yourself. I have a ton of respect for the sheer labor I am witnessing here. Nice work!
Was thinking exactly the same.
I'd still like to see one dedicated to old fogies......
Curtis is a machine. Precision engineering with an attitude to match!
Oh yeah I was thinking if this was me up there, I would have a stepladder a work platform with two fake knees and three hip replacements. Yeah, my ass isn’t doing that shit.
@@Peter-gi3re Definitely there are parts of the job that are best left to those who have no physical limitations, a good strong back, good knees, etc....but a great deal of the work can be done by older men with the skills. Plus it's the senior guy who makes sure the tools and supplies are maintained, spare parts ordered and in stock, and of course, making sure the young guys show up for work in the morning and are fit to work, not hung over or something.
You guys aren't the only engineering channel on KZhead but you are by far the best. Excellent as always both 😊
Glad you think so!
This episode really shows why regular maintenance and visual inspections is so important.
It amuses me to see Karen’s quiet, but formidable intellect operating in every video. Suggesting the ladder in the bloopers was subtle, yet her reasoning was a solid understanding of SIR mechanical advantage.
I have to say that I’m really enjoying hearing more of Karen’s comments and reactions. And now seeing even!! The videos keep getting better.
She can pull a bar out the socket like a welder on a Monday morning.
@Grant Wyness Was really hoping she would think to pull AND twist it, so reasoning is good but not that solid.
@@willtricks9432 lmao
The bar is locked in a keyway you can't twist it out 😘 @alro2434
It's about time to introduce us to the other hardworking machine in your shop. That little Yale forklift is all heart. She fires up and works without compaint. She's a beautiful beast too.
Planning on doing a video when we do service it next time
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering, I'm looking forward to it. Thanks 😊
Yes no bad backs either…..
Please do! It’s been along for the ride forever it seems and is a champ of a machine. You can tell Kurtis can drive it with his eyes closed lol 🥂
Watching this channel has given me the confidence to reseal the rams on my machine. They seem much more tricky than they really are. Thank you.
You can do it!
If 'something' was put together then it can be taken apart ... To lessen reassembly mistakes a video of the tear-down ensures a successful rebuild 😃👍
@@spangy8405 Yea, but if it is a cheap toy or appliance with a sonic welded plastic case, you may not be able to put it back together again :-).
A star is made,a guest appearance by karen showing off her guns💪
1:24 Very subtle but perfect demo of zeroing a swing load when moving off! ( The pause.., then moving forward when the bucket was at it's most forward part of the swing. )
Good observation.
The WS2 looks like it not only can do the jobs but make you able to do much bigger jobs, Thank you Kurtis, Karen, Homeless and George what a team.
The look on Kurtis' face when Karen asked "Do you want me to yank it out?", precious! 🤣
CONGRATULATIONS Kurtis, Karen & Homie for breaching three quarters of a MILLION subscribers 🥂
Good job the old yard crane still works! I could have done with it yesterday, I was cutting up a section of 90mm chrome bar 1200mm long on my tiny 4x6 bandsaw for making up feet for my lathe, mill and surface grinder. Got the idea of the chrome bar off Kurtis as he chucks old ones in the skip. Contacted my local hydraulics place who wouldn't sell direct, but told me which scrap yard they used. Picked up that lump for £20.00, which I considered a bargain, although I could hardly lift it in the car.
Karen insists the old yard crane's a keeper
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering seeing how the other one is in pieces.......I don't blame her! 😂
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering Does she say the same about you????????
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering good girl yes every yard needs a classic crane to help out
Awesome video Kurtis. 🍺🍺
Absolutely LOVE the bird features every week! Keep them coming! 😊
And the Doggo features!
Yes. My guess the hawk was a Black Kite. Maybe.
You are the best promo for Sir Mechanica. They only need to refer to your video's.
We've got machining, we got welding, we got interesting machines, huge work pieces, great craftmanship, great humor, great editing and dog and even bird content. Best channel on KZhead! Greetings from Germany, always love your videos!
Yesterday I watched a 2 year old video from you guys. And its amazing how far you've come in terms of production quality, while still saying the same channel we all know and love. Thanks for all the videos Karen!
Wow thank you so much I really appreciate this sort of feedback and glad to know the improvements are noticed 🥰
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering Its night and day different, they are still the same but so much more refined in the way camera position is and the extra bits of info etc, plus higher quality video resolution are amazing. But so is how its become second nature for you to be infront of the camera as the earlier ones you could see that uncomfortable stage of being on camera which I totally understand as I too once hated public speaking :)
I'm glad to see your Crane with the Ugly Face is still working good.
It even includes some plants to be more eco-friendly. ;-)
😂
That crane is visible on Google Earth!
I call it Snuffleupagus
For sure, the white one (new one) still needs 2 years of work.
I was a locomotive mechanic for 41 years. In this country we were called machinists . When steam engines went away most of the machine work went too. I did run some machines. Mostly wheel lathes, and wheel truing machines. I love watching you work on the big stuff. I am retired now and have a hobby machine shop. A small lathe made in the early 1940s and a Bridgeport mill. I enjoy making thing and doing small jobs for friends. Thanks for what you do on youtube. Love your dog and birds. Give Karon a hug for this Yank. :0)
That crane deserves the nickname Mad Lad since it was insane that it lifted the bucket with such ease..💪
The way it coughed into life sounded like the beginning of a bad joke. 🙄😎
One of only two channels I subscribe to where new video = drop everything and watch 😂 the other one is the project Binky series on bad obsession motorsport
Bit longer between episodes for binky
Cheers mate we really appreciate that!
@@alisterruss9818 yes. Their gap is measured in years 😂
I end up re watching Project Binky haha
@@alisterruss9818 Like we had pandemic and a f**king war between episodes…!
my wife and I really enjoy learning about your type of work. Also we liked when you set up the clock so we can get an idea just about how long that part of the job took. Karen, you do an absolutely wonderful job, love all the (around the shop shots) Thanks for all the extra time you put into editing.
Having recently discovered this KZhead channel I’m totally hooked. It’s better than any soap opera and Homey is just adorable. Kurtis your engineering is amazing and Karen’s video work and editing just brilliant. Thank you both for this channel.
Welcome to the channel! Glad you are enjoying it, cheers 😎👍
The WS2 is really impressive, especially in the hands of someone who knows his stuff as well as Curtis. Great video Karen! Be safe and well.
It’s pretty cool how you take the time to film these jobs, and make it look so easy. Keep up the good work guys, you’re both educating the younger generation of tradesmen
The new facing tool with that dog-clutch on the new heavy duty line borer is a great addition to your shop, it looks so much easier to operate for facing, and provides a really accurate finish compared with some other methods. Looking forward to part 2 :)
As a wise man once said, "clearance is clearance".
Curtis wasn't joking when he said there were bigger jobs coming through the workshop.
Hold my beer! 🍺😂
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering Can't wait 😁. Great video as always. Highlight of Friday morning in the UK.
New tool days are the best days!
That was an amazing effect around 30:20! Synchronizing separate segments so that rotation appeared smooth - wow!
That old yard crane is great
A guy tried to tell me about a tool that makes holes in hard materials, but I stopped him. I knew the drill.
😂 stop it
CEE don't play !One man one woman operation. *Line boring always impressive. No wonder you upgraded up in size with this machine. Wow !* Setting up seems to me you enjoy it just as much as it accomplishes.😊
Setups can be the worst or the most fun puzzle a machinist can have doing a job.
Karen is a master filmmaker getting better every day!
Thanks for 2 videos in one week!
No problem! Thanks for watching 🫶
That WS2 plus machine sure looks like it was a good investment. Well done! I think that pigs are Homeless's favourite.
That's not a bucket, THIS is a BUCKET :D
Thanks guys. The new boring machine is awesome. Looking forward to the next part! See you next week! Cheers.
man some of the things i see you put on those stands im like "oh boy thats gotta be their limits" then you go and do this. great shows, keep up the fantastic work you both do.
Bonjour 🇫🇷🧑🏭 I am a French Welders/Soudeur You are my favorite Channel 🤗 Tank you to show your work C'est très intéressant 👍
I had chills sent down my spine watching that crane firing up… 😂
Kurtis, your talent isn’t demonstrated simply by your technical prowess but by your CREATIVITY as well. So many jobs make one wonder, “Wow! How’s he going to get that accomplished?” Then you come up with an amazingly simple and creative solution. 🤦🏻♂️ Love you guys❣️
its amazing how the filming crew are becoming quite the apprentice all the ooes and R's are all in the right time and place and the advice is solid even tho sometimes the look says it all LOL keep them come guys
Good morning from California's beautiful wine country! It's been another long week! IT'S good thing I set my alarm. Otherwise, I would have slept all night and missed this wonderful episode!
I was literally sitting and watching the last video when you guys got the WS2 and I wished for some more lineboring content and VOILA! Prayers answered 🤩 Perfect morning to start my day; Cup of coffee and CEE content!
I have mixed feelings being at work, at my desk, watching somebody else work for entertainment....but it sure does inspire me to go home, get in the shop and get my hands dirty!
This was not a boring job - it was quite interesting to watch! 😁🤟
And now my Friday is complete. Time for some Engineering Zen.
Hey Curtis, i wish i could of worked with a guy of your caliber.. When you start a job my mind goes right into motion, and i gotta tell you, the opposite of what i was thinking, you complete it.. Either you have had some great teachers, or your quite the knowledgable guy..
The way you're using the arm as a welding table is just great, just thinking outside the box brings you so far!
Between your channel and C&C Equipment's channel I get my weekly fix on quality heavy equipment repairs. Thanks for filming this Karen.
Boy, you don't get the small ones! Any day now I expect to see one of the propellers from the Titanic being dragged into your shop. Well done, as always!
Best thing about Friday
1:08 - Amazing! Whoever lead the engineering team on that bucket had a hell of a meeting to make sure it balanced on the 'wrist'. 1:33 - Looking at the sky; autumn approaching. 10:54 - Beautiful piece of kit. Always pleasing when a design does what it should and looks good also.
I have binge watched all of your videos, and can't wait for new ones. I love the outtakes, and I really LOVE HOMELESS!! I had a female staffy built just like him, and she acted just like him. Lost her to congestive heart failure 6 months ago, she was only 8. I miss her dearly, and seeing Homey just makes my day.
So sorry to read that 😢 They are the best dogs!
I love your channel, being a farmer I appreciate the skill it takes to repair heavy equipment. Long time subscriber and I'm going to keep watching!
Old Yellow fellow strikes again, and Franna can only day dream as he went by..
Curtis is one of those guys that could fix anything. Toilet? Done. Roofing? Done. Excavator? Done. I am not handy or mechanically inclined, but watching all the contraptions in this place makes me smile. This is a great channel.
Line boring has to be one of the most interesting processes. The amount of things that one machine can do is amazing
Nice to see the new machine running, definitely a plus to the workshop. Have a great weekend
The outtakes at the end. Classic. Job well done. Glad the WS2 worked out
The new device appears to work well!!
Sunshine, coffee and CEE what a great start on Friday morning. Thank you from Kansas
Karen is just so good at knowing just where to point the camera to show what we need to see. We are all now waiting for Kurtis to dream up some new shop made attachments for it, although I suspect he's already done the dreaming bit and assembling the materials, you're both stars xxxx
Nothing phases old betsy lifting that humungous bucket😮, new WS2 is exceptional Kurtis 👍, assessment of wear and tear always interesting and spot on. Karen's concentration always watching out👍. Great watch guy's. Homey and the birds💕.
Italian tools, Kurtis skills…perfect combination!
The way this channel is produced is just amazing,Curtis is clearly a super experienced expert I could listen to him all day including the outtakes 👍who a thought watching metal being machined again and again could be so addictive. I might need therapy 😂😂
What ever that is that you are fixing, that is big! Love your videos. My little boy loves to snuggle up with and watch these videos. Good memories!
That crane makes me kind off laugh every time i see it... Its like a farmers tractor went out one night and ran into a actual crane and the result was this weird looking thing! haha Love all your videos! Great craftmanship and looking forward to them every friday!
The beauty of being good at what you do is priceless.
Those aligned stop starts on the bosses on the bucket boils my blood hahaha
as a 1st year fitter , this is amazing to watch. One day hope to have the knowledge and skills that you do
10 seconds in and my first thought is "HOLY SH*T that thing's huge!!" Looks like another fun night with heavy metal!
The use of flat bar was very clever - I didn't see that coming.
Curtis is a machine. Precision engineering with an attitude to match!
The new tools are working well, those parts are so massive. Thanks guys! 👍💪✌
Coffee and maching. Perfect. Good morning!
Simple yet interesting job. And elegant execution, both in terms of machining and filming.
I found your channel a few days ago and I love it. I'm a stainless steel welder in the U.S. and we build the vessels that Daisy makes cottage cheese in in my department. Through the last 47 years I've helped build equipment for everything from pharmaceuticals to dog food. I greatly admire your dedication to quality. You are extremely talented. The out takes may be funny to many people but I feel your pain. I've been in many a tight spot and things go wrong at the worst possible time and I'd eat a spool of flux core if it would do any good. Again, I have great admiration for your work.
Another great insight in how hard these machines work. Loved the new line borer.
Hey Kurtis and Karen, thanx for letting us see PT 1 of your WS2 Plus in action - I cannot wait for PT 2 - " PS: Hommey has not killed that orange pig yet" 😀
It's still so interesting to watch you at work , thanks
I sometimes think that whoever was mostly responsible for showing Kurtis his craft should get a credit. i officially had a couple of brow-furrowing moments back there. No matter, it's late, I'll pour another whisky, stick another log on the fire, sit back and just enjoy watching a wizard at work. cheers guys.
Professional equipment = Professional work. Good job K&K!
Thank you, it's good to see how you fix big things and you apply it to fix smaller things. Cheers
Nice shout out to CEE from C & C Equipment in that States who did some line boring recently. You're teaching the pro's as well as us amateurs.
Nice debut for the new tool and home made mounts, great job without a hitch, enjoyed!
Such great video editing Karen. Kurtis, you have done it again - wowed us all again. I was incredulous at the technique you used to remove those bushings. You are the MAN. I think I know how that works but going to look further into this wizardry so I can understand it - but will never use it, as I am a retired Electronics Engineer.
I bet there's some dude out there "Oh why do I need one of those little line borer tools, you could just set it up on the mill!" 😂😂
Lol yup, KZhead brings out some interesting comments 😂
while you're at it, may as well get that 25 ton overhead crane in there you always 'wanted' lol. for the big jobs. yeah.
Watching him pull that pin out with the yard crane, Curtis is like a heavy machinery ninja
Was cool to see your new equipment in use, sure makes life easier having the right tool for the job.....Javi G.
That crane truck looks so convenient. I gotta find one of those to fix up someday.
You going to retire the old crane truck when the new one is done? Seems that old truck does not owe you anything. Its been a great workhorse. And its nice being able to look in the direction you are lifting in. Should def restore it.
What a cherry on top the Birds are... Ol' George and the bunch. Good stuff.
The new crane will be great, but I love the old one❤️
