Scott, you're a real badass for making it through all this, and Mr. Ballistics Sr., you're just as badass for being as supportive and vital in your son's life and the saving of it as you are. • 6:58 If you're wondering why, you have to remember the 4-bore was designed as a black powder cartridge and modern rounds are loaded to mimic the pressure created by that black powder charge. The .950 JDJ was designed for smokeless powder, which is _three times_ more potent than black powder.

It was weird rifles and rounds that nearly killed him, and here he is firing the biggest and baddest of them all and geeking out instead of freaking out. Hearing the pure excitement out of Scott’s voice when he fired the .950 JDJ proves that he doesn’t just enjoy making the videos, but he enjoys making the content the videos are focused on. which I think is something that many KZheadrs don’t have, and wish they did.

  • It's 2AM and you hear a window break in your living room. This is the worst day this could happen, as every single one of your guns was lost in a tragic boating accident this morning. All were lost except for one. You look across your room in dread at your anti-kaiju rifle. You know what you have to do, but you don't know if you have the strength to do it, both literally and figuratively. Heaving the rifle into your arms, you load a .950 cartridge and begin to waddle towards the door. Your feet make a loud “thud” as you take each 6″ step. You know the intruders hear you. You hope they do, for perhaps they will run and spare the world the suffering that is about to befall it. You try to set the rifle down, but end up clipping your bedroom door and it is immediately knocked off its hinges by this battering ram in your hands. You attempt to round the corner, bonking the muzzle against the doorframe and adjacent wall across the hall at least 4 times. To your horror, two invaders stand there at the end of the hall. With a heavy heart, you raise the rifle to your shoulder while making inhuman grunting noises from the strain of attempting some semblance of a shooting position. The burglars simply stare in disbelief, unable to process the situation they are witnessing, as if in a dream. You cannot aim the rifle, as the last time you fired the gun, it turned your $3000 Leupold into a kaleidoscope. You simply hold it at an angle that appears correct and fire. You are immediately knocked to the floor as if hit by a semi truck going 20 MPH. The shot connected with one of the criminals and it erased him from existence. Even the memories of him have been destroyed and you're wondering why you just shot into an empty hallway. The shot continues to travel through at least 4 houses, a car, and a 10 ton boulder before lodging itself 20 feet into a nearby hill, never to be seen again. It is at this point, you realize you cannot hear. The surviving burglar can't hear either but he's also on fire from the muzzle blast and is currently vacating your home. You don't care. Your shoulder is dislocated and there is a hole in your brand new AR500 refrigerator. You're crying now. The police arrive and, upon seeing the scene, start laughing. You start crying harder.

  • Of all the things that surprise me about you shooting these monster rifles as often as you do, what is absolutely astonishing to me is you don’t flinch or anticipate the recoil at all. Just totally calm, both eyes open and loose. As a (former) competitive shooter I’m beyond impressed. It took me years of training to be able to shoot a 308 out of a 12lb rifle and consistently just let it happen without anticipating the recoil and noise. Even now, 4-5 rounds from a hunting weight 300 win mag and I’m flinching like a complete novice. The win mag might be 30lbs of recoil? Amateur numbers I know. You’re an absolute unit to know it’s coming and just let it happen anyway. Hats off to you sir.

    • It is impressive, though he's also huge. Its the sound more than recoil I think that people recoil from. Grandad used to load our guns with our own loads. Well, as we shot, 1 shell wouldn't have any powder,, and we would recoil when pulling the trigger. That got us a verbal wholloping for being so weak and gun shy that we recoil when there wasn't a sound. It taught us better shooting discipline.

  • i just want to say that, the accident that happened 3 years ago, they of course left scars. but here you are, still soldiering on and making incredibly entertaining and educational content like you never even had that accident, and i have to say, the mental strength it takes to do that isnt exactly something to scoff at! thank you for being such an incredible content creator. you have a heart of gold, and shoulders strong enough to carry those memories and scars onwards to a bright future filled with great content, educational information about firearms and ballistics and most importantly, strong enough to tank any recoil that comes your way, as you were'nt nicknamed the Recoil King for no reason! here's to an amazing future with and for you Scott! CHEERS!

  • All hail Scott, UNDISPUTED KING OF RECOIL!!! Him who was cast into the Valley of the shadow of Death and clawed his way back to the mountaintop through sheer force of will. His physical powers are only matched by his mental toughness and dedication to his craft. LONG LIVE THE KING!!! 👑💪😎👍

    • All I heard was I almost died and learnt nothing from it. Life is precious and to treat it with such disregard is offensive to his family and those that love him. I also strongly object to the king of recoil statement. A true king would never make such a mistake.

    • @@Mu7eD-Stream I disagree on all counts. Part of loving someone is to know who they are. Scott wouldn't be the same if he retreated from what he loves to do because of that horrible accident. I almost drowned years ago and I didn't quit swimming. I was almost killed in a car accident and I didn't give up driving. Even if Scott did quit shooting the biggest and most powerful firearms that is no guarantee of safety. Life is precious because life is also dangerous and fleeting. We don't know how we will go or when. I see Scott takes many precautions these days and I believe he has learned from his experience. He has faced his pain and trauma head on and continued to do what he loves for himself, his family, and for us fans. He is a Warrior, a Champion and a King.

  • After what you endured after the .50 mishap, you are a huge inspiration to me in my life. I have had to endure 4 spinal surgeries on my neck and back the most recent on February 1st of this year. When it all began I didn’t think I’d ever walk again but now I am. Thank you for showing me me the way and giving me me hope and inspiration to keep fighting
