Baby buffalo fights hard but loses the battle to crocodiles in Chobe River Botswana
Chobe River, Botswana.
A herd of Cape buffalo were crossing between two islands.
I could see a young one was struggling (not in the video)...it looked like he was maybe getting stuck in the mud under the water. 2 adult buffalo went in towards the baby and quickly turned around to go back to shore. The baby made progress towards the shore and I thought everything was ok.
Then the guide said that a crocodile had the baby. We got closer and I started to film.
We could see the crocodile had the baby by a front leg. The baby fought so hard for over 14 minutes.
He would get close to shore and we thought we was free and then the croc would swim him out more into the river. It was a difficult 14 minutes watching the baby fighting with all its might to survive.
A second crocodile came from behind us and that was the end for the baby Cape buffalo.
2 buffalo - an adult and another young one stood watching from the shore line. I'm guessing the adult was the mama. It's always hard to watch animals struggling to survive. It is nature but it doesn't make it any easier to witness.
The Chobe River is a great location for wildlife interactions.

The one croc reminds me of my grandpa at the dinner table. Sounds like him too.
I like how this One of those wildlife video captured by Quiet, not Nosy talk a lot commenters but with good subtitles brief shortly to the Point clearly and Can’t STOP crying type of Tourists ❤😂😊
The parents were just like "meh, we'll make others"
Nature is indifferent
Thank you for sharing. It is rare to see crocs taking buffaloes.
you are welcome. I love sharing videos about wildlife
great vid Lisa sad for the calf yes but my respect for these amazing prehistoric predators is huge
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am so glad you enjoyed the video - and yes, sad for the buffalo.
Poor little Calf!😢
Mother Nature isn't always kind. However there ARE some people who think animals can choose to be vegan. Those are the people who wouldn't survive too well on their own without someone else watching out for them. 😅
glad someone told her, "I know, I know"...cant stand "know it all" people especially on tour.
Nice 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The buffalo was almost out of the water. Crocodile had to have lunch unfortunate for the buffalo. Lovely footage in Botswana✌
so many times, we thought the buffalo was going to make it (not filmed). and so true the croc has to eat too - just sad to watch. Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting.
baby?
Thank you Jesus! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Graphic? Where? You didn’t even see blood or flesh getting torn off?

Hi
Mano q bixo sinistro
Where momma 🐃 buffalo?
She was at the shoreline, moving back and forth. She knew there were crocs in the water. And despite her being there was unable to save her baby. Crocs have had millions of years to evolve into the predators they are.
❤
my heart too . Thank you for stopping by
hi
People travel to Africa, doin' a safari trip and get completely mad watching this...?
I don't know about everyone - for me and the group - we weren't mad - we were sad for the buffalo. Happy for the croc - sad for the buffalo, it's ok to be both
I personally know two unrelated wealthy people that have both been to Africa, but neither one got mad at the animals, because they were armed and neither of the two returned home empty handed. 👍
Happy for the crocs, my azz. I didn't hear one cheer for the crocs, lol...@@LisaMRoberti

The damn English tourists were pleased.
no - it may have come across that way - but no one was happy about what happened.
crocs been around 95 million years longer than jesus. for a reason!
they are great hunters
Mentira, vc não sabe de nada e não apresenta evidências.
Haha, are you sure, or did you just read that somewhere? I bet the latter.

This is easy and lazy hunt for the crocs. They once hunted dinosaurs...
not too difficult for sure -- but for the buffalo - it was hard.
Lies
😢I just had Buffalo wings for lunch.
My god
yes - even though it is nature and has to happen - it's still hard to watch.
Look buffalos are the least intelligent animals of all animal kingdoms. Instead of draging the crocodile to the near edge of the water rather he choose to drag to the center shallow .
Not true. That's why they are intelligent enough to come running and help other buffalo if they are in trouble, plenty of videos showing that. Also, this was a baby and not full grown. Btw, you can't see underwater, there might have been a few crocs below with the baby's legs in its mouth so it couldn't move. RIP 🙏
please, search another video and tell me your reaction.... i am sure you will come with entirely different idea...even adult buffalos did same mistake. Good luck@@grievousmink3889
@@grievousmink3889there are so many videos, where a horde of full grown buffalos run away from a lion pride, that way they expose young ones etc… if they would their ground the lions could do nothing…they are really dumb
the crocodile was dragging the buffalo - not the other way around. The baby fought very hard. I did not capture it all on video unfortunately.
there was one croc until the end...but it was definitely the croc pulling the baby -- he fought really hard and many times almost made it back to the shoreline. I didn't capture everything on video

I don’t know if my translation in incorrect but have no idea why you think we people are cruel. This is nature. Crocodiles kill. We simply witnessed nature. We did not intervene in any way. Our presence there did not change anything in the balance of life.
@@LisaMRoberti on top of all that, im pretty sure it wouldve been illegal to do anything anyway. What could anyone do, right? Intervene and become another meal?
No one can help. You're having fun watching. These people just set these things up for tourists.
Horrible
so hard to watch, but the crocodiles are just doing what they need to do to survive.
